In the service of the Prince of Cöthen, Bach composed not only the famous Brandenburg Concertos, but also several orchestral suites, from the third of which comes the Air on the G String. This curious title derives from a later arrangement of this piece for violin solo, in which the melody is played entirely on the lower, higher string of the instrument.

Londonderry Air is an Irish folk tune, it is also known as Danny Boy which is a song that uses the tune but has lyrics written by English lawyer Frederic Edward Weatherly in 1910, and set to the tune in 1913.This arrangement is written for 4 Bb clarinets. The arrangement is of intermediate level and would be great for a quartet looking to expand their performance repertoire.
