Just be careful with your printer settings if you don't want two versions!1. Impressionism French minimalist piece arranged for guitar in Drop D Tuning.2. The composer indications in text are not my recommendations, but the original composer's. 2. Guitar tablature added with circles for half notes and whole notes.3. Measures and time signatures removed to reflect the ethos of the original composer. 4. Engraved to fit on four pages. Many of the lines themselves represent a musical phrase, making my arrangement that much easier to perform musically.  5. Courtesy accidentals added but they just look like regular accidentals. I did this especially because the piece is one gigantic measure and accidental etiquette is hard to follow under those circumstances. 6. Some overly contrived ties removed.This one is a real challenge to engrave because the original composer didn't have bar lines or time signatures. Cool idea but that can cause even the best sheet music programs to glitch out a bit when you have 16/4 hidden time signatures! This especially causes problems with accidentals, and it also causes rhythm problems when multiple voices are happening. As always, I like to try to have notes with upward stems represent the main voice, and downward stems to represent background voices, even though this leads to a bit of messiness with stem collisions. Normally the sheet music shows the rhythm the best, but dare I say the tab actually keeps track of time pretty well since all the voices are condensed into one rhythm line.

We’re calling it a jam because both players get to play a solo over the repeated accompaniment line. First the trombone player jams, then the trumpet. Here is the first of what I hope to be many, many duets made possible by my Just Friends video series. In this series I am inviting one of my musician friends over to make music, do an interview and maybe follow it all up with a Q and A session. I wrote this duet for one of those videos and we had a good time recording it. I enjoy writing music for the people I work with. Does trumpet and trombone seem like an odd duet to write? Well, you may not believe this, but sometimes trumpet players have trombone player friends. :-) Thus, the purpose of the duet. Trumpet Pro Skill Level The highest note in the trumpet part is B natural. The rhythms are also just a little complicated. That’s why we put this at the Trumpet Pro level. We recorded it the same day when I wrote it, so it’s not like I was working on this for days. But there was a little bit of awkwardness in the trumpet part. Practice Recommendations My number one suggestion for practicing this piece is to learn the rhythms first. Notice the anticipation of the third beat. This happens in almost every measure. This rhythm grew on me during my trip to South Africa in 2016 when I performed with the Afrika Mkhize big band. There were lots of songs at the jazz festival in Grahamstown that had that twelve-eight groove with the anticipated third beat. I am NOT saying that this composition is South African. I would not presume to know how to write that kind of music. What I am saying is that the music in South Africa has influenced my writing. In much the same way as playing in all those salsa bands in the 90’s did. So, recognize that the rhythms in this composition are very important and learn those first. The rest of it should fall into place after that. About the Trumpet Pro Skill Level The Trumpet Pro skill level is the fifth skill level in our system. Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, Rory Kinnear, Jeffrey Wright, Léa Seydoux, and Christoph Waltz reprise their roles from previous films, with Rami Malek, Lashana Lynch, Dali Benssalah, Billy Magnussen, and Ana de Armas joining the cast.  The theme song is sung by the American singer Billie Eilish. In January 2019, Eilish told her management that she wanted to be involved if any Bond things come up…whatever we have to do we will do. When the opportunity did arise, the pair jumped into action to book a recording studio, but it left them intensely uninspired and suffering from writer's block. Following this lacklustre day in the studio and they ended up writing and recording the song in a tour bus in Texas, after Finneas came up with an initial chord progression; in just three days the song was written and recorded. Prior to this, the siblings had a meeting with Bond producer Barbara Broccoli, who sent them the script for the opening scene in order to give them a bit of inspiration, which Eilish said was so cool and really, really helpful.Finneas claimed it was useful to go back to listen to previous Bond themes to ensure they were on the right track and did not copy or recreate something which had already been done before, adding that there are few things in your career that are as desirable as doing a Bond song. We did not take the opportunity lightly and worked as hard as we could to prove ourselves.
