Published by Michael Butkus-Bomier (A0.862541). Have A Good One is a track from the bop quartet CD Guided Tour. WINNER of the 2014 SMP/ Hal Leonard Publishing Contest for Best Jazz Combo submission. Each soloist's part is included without the sample as well, for the experienced player. All charts are straight through, with no D.S.'s back to the top or awkward pageturns. A rhythm section Uni-Part comes with each chart, which the optional guitar, bass, piano and even drums can play from! Drumset parts are fully notated versions of the MIDI audio clips. Piano voicings AND chord symbols are provided. Running time without additional soloists is approx. 5 mins 30 secs. Brass ranges are conservative at both the high and low ends. A low-A baritone sax is NEVER required for any GateWay Editions Jazz Ensemble Series chart. MBB  2014 Labor of Love Contest Winner.

Piano Quartet - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.548636 Composed by Mueller. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Christmas. 7 pages. Jmsgu3 #3405937. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.548636). Arranged with a re-harmonized final verse. Away in a Manger is a popular Christmas song published in the late 19th century and performed worldwide. In England, it is considered one of the two most popular carols of all time; a 1996 poll ranked it as a tie for second place. To begin with, many thought Martin Luther wrote it, but now the song is considered to be American. The most common musical arrangements are by William Kirkpatrick (1895) and James R. Murray (1887). The melody was first published as Luther's Cradle Hymn by James R. Murray. Then came a confusing series of explanations about how Martin Luther wrote the song. Murray even went so far as to suggest that Luther wrote it for his children. As a result, the song has become known as “Mueller.†Nobody knows who this “Mueller†is, but the name stuck. PopularityBy the 1880’s the cradle song was being performed in church. By the 1990’s the song was becoming the most popular Christmas song ever. Nearly everyone sang it in school, in church, and at home.Other musical settingsThe first musical setting published with the lyrics appeared in the Little Children's Book for Schools and Families (1885). The title was Away in a Manger. This edition is the first one not attributing the song to Martin Luther. Charles H. Gabriel was the first arranger to present the third verse. He also composed and published many different arrangements of the song. In one of his settings, he supplies a chorus for each verse with asleep sung in canon. Another prevalent preparation uses the lyrics to the melody Flow Gently, Sweet Afton. Yet another arrangement dating uses the lyrics to an old Normandy Carol.

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.958455 Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Joseph Dillon Ford. 20th Century. Score. 2 pages. David Warin Solomons2 #3689621. Published by David Warin Solomons2 (A0.958455). The Cadenza to the First Movement of W. A. Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 24 in C Minor, K. 491, was composed in 1975 for Dillon Ford's personal use as soloist in performances at Florida International University. Since no Mozart cadenza survives for this, perhaps the most romantic of all the Mozart concertos, he consciously set out to create his own cadenza in a kind of hybrid style that is as much redolent of the Viennese Ländler as it is of the Brahms waltzes. Nor did he hesitate to introduce such stylistically advanced features as the concluding double trills, which are virtually unknown in Mozart's keyboard compositions. He believes the result is a concise but effective classico-romantic cadenza in quasi-improvisatory style well suited to its original purpose. He offers it to the pianist who is seeking musically engaging material that has as yet been little heard during public performances of what is perhaps Mozart's greatest contribution to the piano concerto genre.

Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.862560 Composed by Michael Bomier. Contemporary,Instructional,Jazz,Standards. Score and parts. 48 pages. Michael Butkus-Bomier #2034503. Published by Michael Butkus-Bomier (A0.862560). The pianist Bill Evans made a speciality out of haunting minor-key compositions. Here is a tune in that genre, with the fluegelhorn as the main voice for both the melody and the solo. The alto saxophone has a short solo, and the saxophone section has a segment of the melody as a soli. Fm6 and Gm6 in the A section alternate with E Maj7, D Maj7, and C Maj7 at the bridge to create some nicely contrasting colors and feelings. As always with GateWay Editions Jazz Ensemble music, SampleSolos are provided for each soloist. Chord symbols AND written-out voicings are provided for ALL the piano parts in the GEJES book. The rhythm section Uni-Part can be played by an optional guitar, piano, bass, and even the drums! Approx running time is just under 5 mins. MBB.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.862465 Composed by Michael Bomier. Contemporary,Instructional,Jazz,Standards. Score. 2 pages. Michael Butkus-Bomier #2008591. Published by Michael Butkus-Bomier (A0.862465). The jazz piano style known as three-handed swing was made famous, if not actually invented, by Boston pianist Dave McKenna. Here is a written-out, non-improvisational, original piece using that approach. The melody is either a single treble note or the top note of each right-hand chord, sometimes sustained through a change of the underlying harmony. The left hand plays a quarter-note bass line throughout, just as Mr. McKenna could do for hours on end! The piece is in an ambiguous key, using F# and F natural, C# and C natural, D# and D natural, for a sound that moves between E minor, C major and G major. Pedaling is optional. Approx duration 2 mins.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.862589 Composed by Traditional English Carol. Arranged by Michael Bomier. 20th Century,Christmas,Contemporary,Instructional. Score. 2 pages. Michael Butkus-Bomier #442883. Published by Michael Butkus-Bomier (A0.862589). 2015 Piano Contest This arrangement is the most multi-layered of the pieces in the set. It has the melody tucked away in the middle voice treble, and that tune is supported throughout by a 4th underneath, that travels right along. The bass is a hemiola ostinato figure. To Top things off the root or the 5th of the key is added to each treble sonority. It makes for Minimalism with a maximum of interesting features. Intervals of a 9th in some places for the right hand. Short duration. Pedal throughout. MP3 MIDI audio. A solidly Intermediate-level piece. MBB.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.862479 Composed by Michael Bomier. Contemporary,Jazz,Latin,Pop,Standards. Score. 3 pages. Michael Butkus-Bomier #2009263. Published by Michael Butkus-Bomier (A0.862479). This cheerful and breezy lil' tune is designated as Intermediate because it has fewer large chords and a consistent rhythmic and melodic theme throughout. A typical bassline accompanies the motif as it winds its way through the basic progression of jazz, and Latin jazz, the IIm7- V7 -I Maj7 progression. The melody is harmonized in thirds throughout. Approx duration is just under 3 mins. at suggested tempo. Faster is fine if you are able and so inclined to play it that way! Pedal for smoothness and sustain, or play it dry for definition and a stronger rhythmic drive.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.862464 Composed by Michael Bomier. 20th Century,Instructional,Jazz,Latin,Standards. Score. 2 pages. Michael Butkus-Bomier #2008569. Published by Michael Butkus-Bomier (A0.862464). The use of cut-time in Latin jazz is commonplace. Here is a fun and colorful example. The key of 6 flats is used, so that the player or student can get the feel of being somewhat percussive on the black keys. The white keys used are Cb, Fb and Abb! The melody is stated in thirds, with larger sonorities at the cadence points. The chords Fb Maj7 and Abb Maj9 are used, so that the sudden shock of seeing chords in sharps juxtaposed against the 6 flats is avoided. It really is easier to play than to read. The piece repeats, with a vamp intro and coda. Approx duration 1 and a half mins. Left hand is half-note bassline throughout.

Choral Choir (SAB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.862598 Composed by Michael Bomier. 20th Century,Christian,Christmas. Octavo. 8 pages. Michael Butkus-Bomier #493381. Published by Michael Butkus-Bomier (A0.862598). A three-part choral anthem for the Nativity season that can be used by any denomination that celebrates Christmas. The lyric sheet on the inside shows the content, which is meant to reflect on the abundance Western societies have, and how that abundance is not shared elsewhere, and perhaps even in our own countries. Our task, as compassionate people, is to enable that sharing, during the gift-giving season, and far beyond. As the babe in that manger had so little, we can help others have more comfort and security, as the Wise Men, the Three Kings from the Orient did for That Boy-King. SAB, piano accomp. sheet available as a separate item, so your accompanist does NOT have to read from an octavo. Modest ranges throughout, accomp. has many, if not all, of the choral parts covered for note-cues and flow. Lots of richness from a three-part texture, ideal for smaller choirs or youth groups. Just under 4 mins. MP3 MIDI audio. MBB.
