Full Orchestra - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.534554 Composed by Thierry Pélicant. 20th Century,Contemporary,Standards. Score and parts. 136 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #4283537. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.534554). In 2004, the Orchestre Philharmonique de l’Oise commissioned its musical director, t Thierry Pélicant, this concerto for the late Claude Caens, the principal contrabass of this orchestra. This great artist, who was friends with everyone in this ensemble, wanted everyone to have a part in the festivities, not only the strings, but also the winds, the horns, the trumpets and the percussion, and also that they all should be heard ! Thierry Pélicant wrote therefore a concerto which is at once very symphonic – and for this reason, it is strongly advised that the contrabass be amplified – but also a piece which would express the friendship between the orchestra and the soloist. This concerto strives to be both warm and lyrical : it is not a virtuoso showpiece, inspite of the real technical that it offers to the soloist and which he would do well to try to hid them from the audience. It is also not a battle between the orchestra and this gentle giant : they stroll together, sometimes joyously, sometimes with nostalgia and go through the strong storms which do not fail to present themselves, smiling together and finding them to be envigorating. The work is scored for (2(Pic)2(EH)22/2200/Timp/2perc/strings) and lasts aproximately 23 minutes. The orchestral parts are on rental from the pubilsher.  The piano reduction with the solo part is available for sale on this site.Thierry Pélicant was born in 1957 at Sainte-Adresse, France. After studying the organ and the horn, his meeting with Jean-Claude Hartemann, the Musical Director of the Opéra Comique in Paris lead him to decide to explore conducting. He was the student of Haremann for fifteen years. He is the Musical Director of the André Messager Orchestre and has also directed the Orchestre Philharmonique de l’Oise since 1980, one of the oldest French orchestras, since it was founded in 1750. A passionate ssupporter of French music, Pélicant reconstructed the Messe solennelle of L.V.A Boïeldieu and Te Deum of 1792 by Philidor and premièred and recorded the Suite Parnassienne, Massenet’s last work. At the same time, he has also served the music of our time in premièring or recording the works of Dazzi, Marchand, Braconnier, Bénard, Drouin, Preschez, etc. As a composer, musical grammar and stylistic debates only interest him from afar. As a true gourmet (since cooking is another of his passions), he strives to write the music that pleases him, that would be enjoyable to play and which would be enjoyable to hear, hopefully with real pleasure and in which he tries to express the emotions and the pleasant or surprising states of being which, to hime, these works are tied. Through this process, he has created concertos (for oboe, for bassoon, for organ, for contrabass), Escales & paysages, ma monumental literary concerto for narrator, piano and orchestra, written for his friend Dominique Preschez, Operas (Histoires comme ça, Ribouldingue, Élise et le fantôme) ; With the poet Luis Porquet, he wrote the song cycle Ombre légère (for soprano, harp and orchestre), Rhapsodie du Havre (for tenor and chamber orchestra, a commission from the Forum de Normandie to commemorate the 500 years of the founding of the city Le Havre), Et de toi, Bethleem, Christmas oratorio for baritone, chorus and orchestra and, finally, commissioned by the Orchestre de l’Oise in honor of the centennial of the First World War 14, fresque de la Grande Guerre, for the tenor Daniel Gàlvez-Vallejo, children’s chorus and orchestra. In the area of chamber music, he has written a sonata for horn and piano, for the Festival de Giverny, Borée (quintet for oboe and strings), Sextuor d’été, and Milonga (septet inspired by the World of Tango Music). Published in 2005, his novel Carnets de Walter Crane, explores the sufferings of a composer who has the obligation to write a string quartet ...

Small Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1088415 Composed by Antonio Gervasoni. Classical,Contemporary,Multicultural,World. Score and parts. 32 pages. Antonio Gervasoni #692680. Published by Antonio Gervasoni (A0.1088415). Three-movement work for soprano, clarinet and piano. Eulogy is a piece dedicated to the memory of my dear friend Rafael Salazar. I met Rafael in 1994, when I was invited to take the position of guest pianist (I was already an alumnus) in my high school orchestra, where he played the violin. I was seven years his senior, but that didn't stop us from forging a great friendship. He played my music in many other occasions. He grew up and matured, became a loving husband, father, and successful attorney. He was always available, always ready to lend a hand, genuinely concerned for the well-being of other people and for the future of our country. He was always there for me and for all his friends and I have lost count of all the times he offered me his help, without expecting anything in return. In November 2019, at age 39, he was diagnosed with cancer. Despite all our hopes and his great will to live, he passed away on April 18, 2020. He now visits me in my dreams and sometimes, when I realize that I'm dreaming, I give him a big hug. Rest in peace my friend. I'll miss you a lot.

Brass Ensemble Trombone - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.575307 Composed by Hans Leo Hassler. Arranged by David Musgrove. Baroque,Classical,Renaissance. Score and parts. 17 pages. David Musgrove #182980. Published by David Musgrove (A0.575307). Born in Nuremberg, Hans Leo Hassler (1564-1612) went to Venice at the age of 20 where he studied with Andrea Gabrieli, along with Andrea's nephew Giovanni, with whom he became friends. The friendship lasted after Hassler returned to Germany the following year, and there is evidence of at least one collaborative composition with Gabrieli. His final post was as Kapellmeister in Dresden, and after his death he was replaced by Michael Praetorius and Heinrich Schütz. Hassler's four part motet 'Cantate Domino' is an exciting setting of the traditional Catholic text, taken from Psalm 96. It is well suited to being voiced by four trombones. Item number: DM 2976 MP3 sound file is produced from Sibelius.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1295715 Composed by Donald Ashwander. Ragtime. Score. 6 pages. The Donald Ashwander Estate #886012. Published by The Donald Ashwander Estate (A0.1295715). Perdido Bay Moon Rag is a heartfelt and evocative solo piano composition dedicated to the memory of an elegant lady whose love for dance and a chance suggestion led to the creation of this beautiful piece. The composition pays homage to the serene beauty and cherished memories of Bear Point, Alabama, a place rich in history and personal significance to the composer, Donald Ashwander. The story behind Perdido Bay Moon Rag begins on a summer day when Donald, along with friends Edith and Edwin Zelnicker, found themselves on the picturesque Bear Point, Alabama. This tranquil peninsula on the shores of Perdido Bay held a special place in their hearts, as it was a locale where they had spent countless hours as children. They reminisced about their youth, playing beneath the majestic magnolia trees adorned with Spanish Moss and exploring ancient Indian mounds in search of pottery shards. It was during this nostalgic conversation that Edith, the elegant lady in question, suggested the title for a piano composition: Perdido Bay Moon Rag. Enchanted by the idea, Donald was determined to bring this vision to life. Upon returning to New York, he began crafting the piece, but it somehow eluded his grasp. Despite this initial challenge, he designed an appropriate cover for the composition and sent it to Edith and Edwin in Mobile.Over the years, Perdido Bay Moon Rag remained a fixture on Edith and Edwin's piano, a symbol of a cherished memory and unfulfilled promise. Edith confessed to her friend that she had attempted to play the piece but found it too complex, and so it remained unplayed.Time passed, and sadly, Edith fell ill. On a poignant visit to Mobile after Edith's passing, the atmosphere in their home was filled with her spirit. There, prominently displayed on the piano, lay Perdido Bay Moon Rag. In that moment, Donald knew that he needed to fulfill his promise and honor Edith's memory properly. With newfound determination and inspiration, Donald embarked on a journey to create a completely new composition that would capture the essence of Bear Point, Perdido Bay, and the moonlit nights they had cherished. This time, the music flowed effortlessly from his fingertips, as if guided by the memories and love he held for his dear friend.Perdido Bay Moon Rag is a testament to the enduring power of memories, friendship, and the creative process. It reflects the tranquility of Bear Point, the gentle sway of Spanish Moss, and the serenity of moonlit nights on the bay. Through its delicate melodies and intricate rhythms, the composition invites listeners to share in the deep emotions and fond recollections that inspired its creation. The final page of the sheet music contains special program notes by Donald Ashwander.
