Concert Band - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1446801 Composed by Jennifer Lucy Cook. Arranged by John Ivor Holland. 21st Century,Classical,Contemporary,Contest,Festival. 76 pages. John Ivor Holland #1026566. Published by John Ivor Holland (A0.1446801). Jennifer Lucy Cook is a composer and lyricist based in Los Angeles, specialising in music for the stage and screen, choral work, and pop songwriting. Of 'Mystery', she writes: Nothing has brought me nearer to the brink of insanity more than my futile grip on life. Controlling, planning, and carefully crafting the next step continues to be virtually pointless, and yet I persist. *sigh* Letting go is beautiful but elusive, like hanging onto smoke, and impatience is always at my heels. 'Mystery' is the musical ravings of a slightly deranged person reminding themselves to trust the process – after all, what good is a life without surprises? “Once you tell a secret, there’s no secret left to tell”, and thus, life keeps her mystery guarded. This arrangement has been created as part of an ongoing project to bring more music by women into the worldwide concert band repertoire.

Small Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.784814 Composed by McCorkle, Dennis F. Broadway,Christian,Jewish,Musical/Show,Rock. Score and parts. 90 pages. DF McCorkle Music and eBook Publications #11627. Published by DF McCorkle Music and eBook Publications (A0.784814). Contemporary pop rock musical by Dennis McCorkle. SUMMARY Saul, a charismatic individual from a prominent family, would become the first king over the nation of Israel. Lacking a relationship with God and insecure of his own worth and ability to govern, he consistently bends to the whims of the people and his troops. Plagued with bouts of depression and manic behavior, Saul consistently disregards direction from his mentor, Samuel the Prophet; eventually leading to his downfall, removal as king, and ultimate suicide. Conversely David, from humble and modest beginnings as a shepherd, rises to become one of the most revered and powerful rulers in Hebrew literature uniting the twelve families of Israel and establishing a central capital in Jerusalem, Israel. Although making many inappropriate choices along the way, his ongoing faith and trust in his God enables him to weather the consequences of his own actions and the trials that were placed before him.

Choral Choir,Choral,SATB Chorus divisi - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1503412 Composed by Iain Cook, Lauren Mayberry, and Martin Doherty. Arranged by Andrew Montano. A Cappella,Pop. 15 pages. Andrew Montano #1078860. Published by Andrew Montano (A0.1503412). He Said She Said was the first song CHVRCHES composed for their fourth album after the COVID-19 pandemic. The meaning behind the track focuses on the pressures of being true to oneself and living up to expectations, especially in the ongoing age of social media. The verses describe a hypocrisy and controlling, manipulative struggle with the singer's physicality and mental state. The quotes tell her to act a certain way or mold into a specific shape, but also mention to not go too far in either category. Not having a clear direction and attempting to please others makes the singer feel like they're losing their mind.Lauren Mayberry, the lead vocalist, said The barebones of thesong were there in about an hour and the opening line of thesong was the first lyric that came out.The song released with a music video following Mayberry trapped inside a transparent revolving door with no way ofescaping. She's seen bashing against the glass attempting to break out with shots of her spinning around.Martin Doherty, the synthesist and producer of the band, said The chords felt like they had this eternal tension in them—they never actually release, even though they get really big. Itfeels to me like a panic attack. The lyrics enhance this tense suffocation with Mayberry's build up in the pre chorus followed by her highest range in the chorus. She switches between a false voice/autotune into her natural voice after breaking free from the silence. Almost as if her falsified persona is begging for release but no one responds to her cry for help.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.533554 Composed by Carson Cooman. Concert,Contemporary,Standards. Score. 37 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #3018601. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.533554). I. (Flowing)II. (Fast, nimble)III. (Funereal) (in memoriam Donald Martino)IV. (Dancing)V. (Distant, echoing) (for Richard and Dee Wilson)VI. (Moderate, singing, with humor) (for Michael Finnissy)VII. (Slow, very lyrical)VIII. (March)IX. (Envoi: Very slow, from afar)Nine Preludes (2007) for piano was written for and is dedicated to pianist Marilyn Nonken; it was commissioned byRichard Mason.Although the work is composed as a set of discrete movements, the preludes are very much interconnected, as motivicand developmental ideas run throughout the entire set. The basic musical material (founded upon collections of minorand major thirds) is shared among all nine movements. An elegiac quality runs throughout the work. The first prelude (Flowing) is inspired by the piano music of Johannes Brahms, whose contributions to the instrument’sliterature have been a significant and ongoing influence on my work. The second prelude is fast and bright. Consistent staccato textures are maintained as the two hands intertwine. The third prelude (Funereal) is dedicated to the memory of American composer Donald Martino (1931–2005). The musicrefers very obliquely to Martino’s setting of Robert Herrick’s poems of death and eternity in The White Island (1985).The fourth prelude (Dancing) is light and buoyant. After a melodic middle section, the opening music reverses itself to theend. The fifth prelude (Distant, echoing) is dedicated to Richard and Dee Wilson. Through large blocks of sustained sound (bothquiet and loud), the movement explores certain harmonic colors of the piano. The sixth prelude (Moderate, singing, with humor) is dedicated to English composer Michael Finnissy. The opening ismarked “like an ‘off-kilter’ folk song,†and this original melody is subjected to a variety of transformations and textures. The rhythmic patterns are constantly in flux. The seventh prelude (Slow, very lyrical) is melodic and passionate, with a nocturnal character. The middle builds to anintense climax before dying away. The eighth prelude (March) is spiky and crisp. In the trio, the march theme is turned first into a tonal ballad beforegradually transforming back into the language of the march. A faster reprise of the opening music follows. The ninth prelude (Envoi: Very slow, from afar) is an elegaic “farewell.†Romantic gestures and harmonies try to assertthemselves before the music dies away.Performance Note: Although it is preferred that the entire set of nine preludes be played in concert, individual preludes (or smallerassembled groupings) may be performed when necessary for programming needs. If the entire set is played, however, the order of thepreludes should not be changed. The movements should be listed in the program in the format shown at the top of this page.Recorded by Donna Amato on Carson Cooman: Piano works  ALTARUS AIR-CD-9015

Concert Band - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1472832 Composed by Dora Peja?evi?. Arranged by John Ivor Holland. 20th Century,Classical,Romantic Period. 39 pages. John Ivor Holland #1050464. Published by John Ivor Holland (A0.1472832). Countess Maria Theodora Paulina Dora Peja?evi? (10 September 1885 – 5 March 1923) was a Croatian composer, pianist and violinist and one of the first composers to introduce the orchestral song to Croatian music. Her Symphony in F-sharp minor is considered by scholars to be the first modern symphony in Croatian music. Peja?evi? is noted for her vocal compositions, piano miniatures, and string quartets, which were heavily influenced by the expressionist and modernist trends of the time. In her early career, Peja?evi?’s primary themes were highly representative of the Romantic period, but this would change after her experience working as a paramedic in the First World War after which her works reflected the philosophic movement of nihilism and discussed motifs of death, isolation, and futility of war. This wonderful 'Elegie', originally composed for violin and piano, dates from 1913, just before the outbreak of war and is dedicated to Johannes Nádherny-Borutin, an important Czech politician. This arrangement has been made as part of an ongoing project to bring more music by women composers into the worldwide concert band repertoire.
