There is a long tradition of arranging piano music for guitar. This edition reverses that tradition. This set of music for piano is based my Twenty Etudes For Guitar. The guitar and the piano are certainly cousins so I believe the essence of works for one instrument can be expressed on the other, in either direction. While these pieces may in fact work as etudes for piano I have purposefully renamed them. Whether or not they work as etudes I will leave up to each individual pianist and piano teacher the extent of their didactic usefulness. Ultimately though all music can be used for study and my wish is these pieces can be used for study and performance. They are relatively brief and ideally played in sets, the number and selections being determined by the performer. Despite the misleading title, Bach's French Suites are a testament to his compositional genius and continue to be cherished by musicians and audiences alike. The history behind Bach's French Suites is intertwined with a bittersweet period in Bach's life. In May 1720, Bach embarked on a trip, leaving his wife, Maria Barbara, and four children. Tragically, upon his return, he discovered that Maria Barbara had passed away. This loss led to a significant change in Bach's personal life as he became a single father mourning his wife. Despite this tragedy, Bach found love again with Anna Magdalena Wülcken, whom he married. As a gesture of affection and to cultivate her musical skills, Bach composed music for Anna Magdalena, including what would later become the French Suites. These suites were likely performed at court and reflected the couple's intimate musical companionship. The French Suites were not published during Bach's lifetime, possibly because he did not deem it challenging enough. Today, these suites offer an accessible path to Bach's music and are cherished for their stylized dance movements inspired by French and Italian forms.

The Idealistic: Skamos Levenbrand portrays the naivete of a young hero - one who wants nothing more than to save the world and protect everyone. A lofty and laudable goal, but one that our monk may soon realize may not actually be possible  The Wandering: Skamos' faith has been shaken. Though he anticipated life in Aknir was rough, he never considered that the real monsters in life may actually be the 'civilized' beings he swore to protect. This leaves Skamos shaken, unsure if his path in life is still righteous. The Virtuous: Skamos has overcome many of his uncertainties and has become self actualized. He has meditated on the concepts of life, death, and love and discovers there is more to life than simple heroism, and accepts that the simple pleasures in life are best shared.

Morgengruss (Morning Greetings) Die Schone Mullerin was Schubert’s first song cycle and an essential cornerstone in the genre of art songs. It tells the story of a young miller who is on a journey in search of work after completing his apprenticeship. He follows a brook flowing through the countryside, which leads him to a mill where he can seek employment. However, upon meeting the daughter of the mill’s owner, he quickly falls in love with her. This is the eighth song in the cycle and serves as an interlude. It shows the protagonist serenading the miller’s daughter, but he is concerned that his greetings might disturb her because she turns away from him. The narrative does not make clear if this exchange between the two characters is real, or if it all takes place inside the protagonist’s head. Despite his misgivings, the mood of this song is serene and fairly joyful. The triplets at the end of each verse represent the brook, which is present throughout the entire song cycle.This classic Schubert song has been arranged for voice and acoustic guitar in order to provide an alternative accompaniment option for singers who want to perform Schubert’s lieder with guitar instead of piano.
