David McKeown #6358909. Published by David McKeown (A0.592396). Walter the Weary Werewolf is a spooky and original duet written by David McKeown for one Trumpet and one Clarinet. Walter the Weary Werewolf is one in a series of ten Halloween-themed duets each presenting a portrait of a different Halloween character. All ten can be bought together in one collection by searching for 10 Spooky Halloween Duets for Trumpet and Clarinet.Walter has a young family and a responsible job as a vet, so he needs a good night’s sleep. When there’s a full moon he sprouts fangs, claws and body hair like all the other werewolves, but rather than howling, he scratches the back of his neck with his leg and goes back to sleep with a whimper. His wife was surprised the first time, but she’s used to it now.Walter the Weary Werewolf is suitable for players at an advanced intermediate level and above. The main melody has many accidentals and challenging timing, while the faster middle section features irregular metre. The range is accessible for both players. Full Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1130199 Composed by Anton Rubinstein. Arranged by Arkady Leytush. 19th Century. 107 pages. Arkady Leytush #730561. Published by Arkady Leytush (A0.1130199). Anton Rubinstein Concert Suite from “Bal costumeâ€, Op. 103 1. Polonais et polonaise 2. Toréador et andalouse 3. Pacha et almée 4. Pêcheur napolitain et napolitaine This concert suite was composed and orchestrated by me from 4 bright numbers “Bal costumeâ€, op. 103. Their strong contrasting imagery, theatricality and ingenuity provided an excellent opportunity for development in the orchestra and served as the impetus for this orchestral transcription. In addition to popularizing the work of A. Rubinstein as a composer, this music itself can become an adornment of many symphonic programs. The role and significance of Anton Rubinstein for the development of academic music in Russia is invaluable. His powerful and versatile talent manifested itself in everything he did. He remained in the history of music as an unsurpassed pianist and conductor, and as a great composer, and as the founder of the Russian Musical Society, and as the organizer of the First Russian Conservatory in St. Petersburg. Unfortunately, this all-encompassing contribution to Russian musical culture and his place in it have not yet been sufficiently appreciated by his descendants, and there are traditionally painful reasons for this. He still cannot be forgiven for his origin and some critical statements about his colleagues, which hang like a stone over the memory of this great maestro and man!

Horn Ensemble Horn - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1110895 Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Chamber,Christian,Classical,Instructional,Religious. 28 pages. Regis Bookshar #713190. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.1110895). Recordare (from Requiem (K. 626) - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart/Franz Xaver Sussmayr - French Horn Sextet - Advanced/Intermediate - Digital Download. Hauntingly beautiful is how the Recordare from Mozart's Requiem is often described. Originally written for an orchestra and four vocal soloists, it has now been transcribed by Regis Bookshar for a French Horn Sextet, and would be a wonderful addition to any music library. This arrangement will provide students with the opportunity to practice breath control because of its long, sustained phrases, and also to give them the chance to play this beautiful composition, something which they may not have had the opportunity to do, otherwise. This selection could be performed for concerts, recitals and church services and is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this arrangement. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (28 pages). The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble has performed the Trumpet Quintet version of the Recordare for funerals, providing beautiful, introspective music for the occasion. There is some controversy surrounding the circumstances of the Requiem's composition because Mozart died before he could complete it. Count Franz von Walsegg had commissioned a Requiem Mass but Mozart had received only half of the payment in advance. So, upon his death on December 5th, 1791, his widow, Constanze, wished to have the work completed secretly by someone else and submit it to the count as having been completed by Mozart to collect the final payment. Joseph von Eybler was one of the first composers to be asked to complete the score and had worked on a number of movements but felt unable to complete the remainder and gave the manuscript back to Constanze Mozart. The task was then given to another composer, Franz Xaver Sussmayr. Sussmayr borrowed some of Eybler's work in making his completion, added his own orchestration to other movements and added several new movements which a Requiem Mass would normally comprise. He then added a final section by adapting the opening two movements which Mozart had written to the different words which finish the Requiem Mass, which according to both Sussmayr and Mozart's wife, was done according to Mozart's directions. The completed score, initially by Mozart but largely finished by Sussmayr, was then dispatched to Count Walsegg complete with a counterfeited signature of Mozart dated 1792. Despite the controversy over how much of the music is actually Mozart's, the commonly performed Sussmayr version has become widely accepted by the public, and is considered one of Mozart's finest compositions. The Recordare is considered by many people to be one of the most beautiful compositions in Mozart's entire catalogue. Regis Bookshar, a trumpet player, has performed the Requiem in concert with a full orchestra, soloists and a chorus and felt that other musicians should have the opportunity to play the hauntingly beautiful Recordare as well. So, in addition to this arrangement for a French Horn Sextet, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this beautiful composition. There are Quintets, Sextets, Septets and Octets readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may fine something else which may also suit your needs. I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are being added as often as possible. I'm certain that this beautiful arrangement of Mozart's Recordare, will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come.

Brass Ensemble,Brass Quintet Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Digital Download SKU: A0.1495808 Composed by Richard John (Gb1) Thompson. Arranged by Peet du Toit. Traditional. 7 pages. Peet du Toit #1072337. Published by Peet du Toit (A0.1495808). BANKS AND BRAES (O' BONNY DOON). AKA and see “Bonnie Doon,” Lost is My Quiet, Caledonian Hunt's Delight (The), Ye Banks and Braes. Scottish, Air and Waltz (6/8 or 3/4 time). The antiquarian William Chappell claims the tune is English on the strength of its being included in a Collection of English Songs by Dale (who published about 1780-1794) under the title Lost is my quiet. However, the collector John Glen (1891) relates a delightful story of the tune's origins involving the famous Scots poet, Robert Burns (1759-1796), who wrote to publisher George Thomson in 1794:Do you known the history of the air? It is curious enough. A good many years ago, Mr. James Miller, writer in your good own (Edinburgh), a gentleman whom, possibly, you know, was in company with our good friend Clarke; and taling of Scottish music, Miller expressed an ardent ambition to be able to compose a Scots air. Mr. Clarke, partly by way of a joke, told him to keep to the black keys of the harpsichord, and preserve some kind of rhythm, and he would infallibly compose a Scots air. Certain it is, that, in a few days, Mr. Miller produced the rudiments of an air which Mr. Clarke, with some touches and corrections, fashioned into the tune in question. Ritson, you know, has the same story of the black keys; but this account which I have just given you, Mr. Clarke informed me of several years ago.Miller's tune was first published under the title Caledonian Hunt's Delight (The) in Gow's 2nd Collection (1788), but Glen concludes that it is more likely that Lost is my quiet is a poor adaptation and nothing else. He also notes there is a tune having a supposed resemblance in Playford's Appollo's Banquet (1690) entitled Scotch Tune (A) (No. 68), but in the end he believes that neither Chappell's arguments nor facts are strong enough to deprive Mr. Miller of his claim. The Caledonian Hunt's Delight appears also in George Thomson's A Select Collection of Original Scottish Airs for the Voice (Edinburgh, 1793-1797), arranged by Kozeluch. A rondo on the air was composed by Domenico Corri (1746-1825) under the title Favourite Irish Air (which, of course, it is not).

Piano,Violin - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.548495 Composed by Gruber. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Christmas. 3 pages. Jmsgu3 #3387261. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.548495). Silent Night arranged for Violin & Piano with new harmony for the final verse. Score: 2 pg. Part: 1 pg. Silent Night Origins Father Joseph Mohr wrote the lyrics for a new Christmas Carol. He wanted the new carol for his Christmas Eve Mass. With only a couple of hours until the service, He asked organist and schoolteacher Franz Gruber to write a melody and simple accompaniment to go with the lyrics. The result is probably the most famous of all Christmas carols – Silent Night. First Performance Perhaps because the organ was undergoing repairs, or to make sure the accompaniment was easy enough, Mohr asked Gruber to write it for the guitar. Mohr played the guitar, and both Mohr and Gruber gave the world premiere performance at the Christmas Eve Mass in 1818 at St. Nicholas Church in Oberndorf in Salzburg. Original Score Eventually, the original score became lost, and consequently, Mohr's name was largely forgotten.  Though the public originally recognized Gruber as the composer, many people over time began rumors that a more famous composer was responsible. Thus, they floated the names of Haydn, Mozart, and even Beethoven. Authorities eventually settled the matter when a manuscript in Mohr’s handwriting turned up in 1820. Consequently, we learn that Mohr wrote the lyrics in 1816, and Gruber composed the melody in 1818. Popularity Nonetheless, Silent Night is still very popular. Singers have performed this song in nearly every genre and in multiple languages. Perhaps the most famous version is the one Bing Crosby crafted. This version is the third best-selling physical single recording in the history of recorded music. This particular recording was released in 1935 and sold at least 30 million copies. Only two songs have ever sold more. Elton John released Candle in the Wind in 1997 and sold 33 million copies. The record for most copies ever sold goes to Bing Crosby. He released White Christmas in 1942 and sold 50 million physical copies.

Voice (female choir, men's choir, mixed choir), strings and other instruments ad libitum - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q19878 (In Praise of Music). Composed by Paul Hindemith. This edition: score. Downloadable, Score. Duration 7 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q19878. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q19878). We owe it to Paul Hindemith's interest in education, which, in turn, was owed not only to the professional musicians and composers, that he composed for children and amateur musicians as well. Dame Music stands for this dialogue to make contemporary music for amateurs accessible not only in theory but also in practice. Dame Music was composed during his stay in the USA after he had been asked for an American edition of his composition Frau Musica. Musik zum Singen und Spielen auf Instrumenten nach einem Text von Luther, Op. 45 No. 1 from 1928. In 1942 he wrote the successful American version Dame Music for which Hindemith also revised some instrumental parts. The vocal setting was adopted without any changes and its text translated into English. With great success: Within just a few years, Dame Music had been included in the repertoire of amateur musicians in the United States.

String Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1296514 Composed by Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Contest,Early Music,Festival,Historic,Renaissance,Traditional. 21 pages. Jmsgu3 #886692. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1296514). Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck was a Dutch organist and composer who lived from April 1562 to October 16, 1621. He was born and died in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Sweelinck's first published works date from around 1592-94, and he composed various music, including chansons and keyboard music. He was known for his keyboard playing and was a teacher to German composers Samuel Scheidt and Heinrich Scheidemann. Sweelinck's Echo Fantasias are significant for several reasons:Innovative composition: Echo Fantasias were a unique form of composition during Sweelinck's time, blending elements of traditional fantasias with passages dedicated to echo effects. This experimental approach showcased Sweelinck's creativity and willingness to push the boundaries of musical expression. Emphasis on the moment: Unlike Sweelinck's larger fantasias, the construction of Echo Fantasias was less strict, focusing more on the immediate musical experience than the overall design. This emphasis on the moment allowed for greater freedom and spontaneity in the performance of these pieces. Stylistic range: Echo Fantasias encompassed various styles, juxtaposing fantasia-like elements with passages dedicated to echo effects. This stylistic diversity added depth and complexity to Sweelinck's compositions, making them engaging and intriguing for both performers and listeners.
