Instrumental Duet Bassoon,English Horn,Instrumental Duet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.845047 Composed by Franz Liszt. Arranged by Phil Beaman. Romantic Period,Sacred,Wedding. Score and parts. 7 pages. Phil Beaman #6104057. Published by Phil Beaman (A0.845047). L'Hymne du Pape was written in 1864 by the great Hungarian composer Franz Liszt. It was written in honor of Pope Pius IX who was the Pope at that time. Liszt himself was then living in a monastery outside of Rome and had recently take Orders. For about 10 years he was in the religious phase of his life where he wrote sacred music. This piece was written for piano solo, but Liszt liked it so much that he did a version for pipe organ and soon thereafter a version for piano duet and then for chorus and orchestra.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.895228 By Ray Parker Jr. By Ray Parker Jr. Arranged by Fernando Ramos. Contemporary. Score. 4 pages. Fernando Ramos #6587947. Published by Fernando Ramos (A0.895228). Hear it on YouTube:https://youtu.be/TznAa_pqMdEI make piano solo arrangements for my students of songs that they love! My goal is to create something that sounds beautiful as a standalone piece of music, but most importantly, that it actually makes pianistic sense. Sometimes I even hide exercises in the arrangements that I want a student to work on. All of my arrangements are usually made for a specific student, so the results will always vary. This arrangement was made for a late intermediate student, Moderately Difficult III, working on Level 5 of the Alfred's Masterwork Classics series. Timing is everything on this piece. I recommend experimenting with the pedal to bring a little more fun and contrast. In other words, less pedal throughout the performance except for adding color and texture. My student chose this piece on a whim for our Halloween event, but as soon as he started learning it, he became addicted and couldn't stop practicing it until he had it down! It really is super fun to play!Pedal and fingering suggestions are included.

String Ensemble Cello,Viola,Violin - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1386270 Composed by Georg Schwenk and Georges (Dp) Bizet. Arranged by The Fluffy Hat Music Co. Classical. 49 pages. The Fluffy Hat Music Co. #970191. Published by The Fluffy Hat Music Co. (A0.1386270). Carmen Fantasie is a virtuoso showpiece for violin and orchestra. The piece is part of Franz Waxman's score to the 1946 movie Humoresque for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Music, Scoring of a Dramatic or Comedy Picture. The music, based on various themes from Georges Bizet's opera Carmen, was initially meant to be played by Jascha Heifetz. However, he was replaced by a young Isaac Stern for the film's recording of the score. Stern's hands can be seen in the close-up shots from the movie. After seeing the film, Heifetz asked Waxman to expand the work because he wanted to play it on the radio program, The Bell Telephone Hour, where it premiered on 9 September 1946. The work has been played since by many virtuoso violinists in concerts. This adaption, by The Fluffy Hat Music Co. is for Solo Violin and string ensemble (2 1st Violins, 2 2nd violins, 2 Viola and 2 Cellos).

Saxophone Ensemble,Woodwind Ensemble Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1110938 Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Chamber,Christian,Classical,Instructional,Religious. 28 pages. Regis Bookshar #713204. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.1110938). Recordare (from Requiem (K. 626) - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart/Franz Xaver Sussmayr - Saxophone Sextet - Advanced/Intermediate - Digital Download. Hauntingly beautiful is how the Recordare from Mozart's Requiem is often described. Originally written for an orchestra and four vocal soloists, it has now been transcribed by Regis Bookshar for a Saxophone Sextet, consisting of 5 Alto Saxophones and 1 Baritone Saxophone, and would be a wonderful addition to any music library. This arrangement will provide students with the opportunity to practice breath control because of its long, sustained phrases, This selection could be performed for concerts, recitals and church services and is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this arrangement. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (28 pages). The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble has performed the Trumpet Quintet version of the Recordare for funerals, providing beautiful, introspective music for the occasion. There is some controversy surrounding the circumstances of the Requiem's composition because Mozart died before he could complete it. Count Franz von Walsegg had commissioned a Requiem Mass but Mozart had received only half of the payment in advance. So, upon his death on December 5th, 1791, his widow, Constanze, wished to have the work completed secretly by someone else and submit it to the count as having been completed by Mozart to collect the final payment. Joseph von Eybler was one of the first composers to be asked to complete the score and had worked on a number of movements but felt unable to complete the remainder and gave the manuscript back to Constanze Mozart. The task was then given to another composer, Franz Xaver Sussmayr. Sussmayr borrowed some of Eybler's work in making his completion, added his own orchestration to other movements and added several new movements which a Requiem Mass would normally comprise. He then added a final section by adapting the opening two movements which Mozart had written to the different words which finish the Requiem Mass, which according to both Sussmayr and Mozart's wife, was done according to Mozart's directions. The completed score, initially by Mozart but largely finished by Sussmayr, was then dispatched to Count Walsegg complete with a counterfeited signature of Mozart dated 1792. Despite the controversy over how much of the music is actually Mozart's, the commonly performed Sussmayr version has become widely accepted by the public, and is considered one of Mozart's finest compositions. The Recordare is considered by many people to be one of the most beautiful compositions in Mozart's entire catalogue. Regis Bookshar, a trumpet player, has performed the Requiem in concert with a full orchestra, soloists and a chorus and felt that other musicians should have the opportunity to play the hauntingly beautiful Recordare as well. So, in addition to this arrangement for a Saxophone Sextet, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this beautiful composition. There are Quintets, Sextets, Septets and Octets readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may fine something else which may also suit your needs. I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are being added as often as possible. I'm certain that this beautiful arrangement of Mozart's Recordare, will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come.

String Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1298000 Composed by Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck. Arranged by James M.. Guthrie. Contest,Early Music,Festival,Historic,Renaissance,Traditional. Score and Parts. 23 pages. Jmsgu3 #887905. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1298000). Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck was a Dutch organist and composer who lived from April 1562 to October 16, 1621. He was born and died in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Sweelinck's first published works date from around 1592-94, and he composed a variety of music, including chansons and keyboard music. He was known for his keyboard playing and was a teacher to German composers Samuel Scheidt and Heinrich Scheidemann. Sweelinck's Echo Fantasias are significant for several reasons:Innovative composition: Echo Fantasias were a unique form of composition during Sweelinck's time, blending elements of traditional fantasias with passages dedicated to echo effects. This experimental approach showcased Sweelinck's creativity and willingness to push the boundaries of musical expression. Emphasis on the moment: Unlike Sweelinck's larger fantasias, the construction of Echo Fantasias was less strict, focusing more on the immediate musical experience rather than the overall design. This emphasis on the moment allowed for greater freedom and spontaneity in the performance of these pieces. Stylistic range: Echo Fantasias encompassed a wide range of styles, juxtaposing fantasia-like elements with passages dedicated to echo effects. This stylistic diversity added depth and complexity to Sweelinck's compositions, making them engaging and intriguing for both performers and listeners.

English • German. This Romance by Anton Rubinstein is in the same genre. He too was known both as a composer and performer, ranking as one of the greatest pianists of his time. Educated in Moscow, this child prodigy gave his first public performance at the age of nine and then embarked on his first foreign tour. He travelled to Paris, where he met Franz Liszt, who offered advice and encouragement. International appearances made Rubinstein increasingly well-known both as a pianist and composer. His musical legacy is vast, encompassing stage works, chamber music and symphonic works, vocal pieces and piano music. His Romance, originally for piano solo, comes from the collection Kamennoi-ostrow (‘Rocky Islands’) with the subtitle ‘Album of portraits for piano’, op. 10 dating from 1854. Like his more famous Melody in F, this Romance is a charming character piece. Edition based on plate nos. 02382 (piano part) and 02381 (violin part), first published in 1896 as plate no. 25957.

Aere R Greenway #860416. Published by Aere R Greenway (A0.1267868). As a life-long fan of the music of Brahms, I have wished there were more than his four symphonies to enjoy.  So I set about orchestrating his sonata for piano, opus 5, as a symphony.  I doing so, I've seen many things in his piano music, that suggest he was thinking orchestrally.  And this is a composition from his youth (1854).  In fact, I have been repeatedly amazed at how many simultaneous, independent parts, he has put into a piano solo.  I haven't needed to create anything.  It's all Brahms, coming through.  Perhaps, if Brahms weren't so overwhelmed by the genius of Beethoven, who came before, he might have made this his first symphony.  And your orchestra can perform it for your audiences to enjoy!Brahms has long been a staple of concert-going audiences, and with this piece, you can perform a new symphony of Brahms, created from his piano sonata in F-minor, orchestrated into a symphony by Aere.

Trumpet Duet Trumpet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.552416 Composed by Leo Delibes (1836-1891). Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Holiday,Romantic Period,Standards,Wedding. Score. 7 pages. Jmsgu3 #6342775. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.552416). Duo of the flowers from Lakme, Act I. A popular wedding selection. Leo Delibes (1836-1891) was a French composer of the Romantic period best known for his ballets and operas. He was a child prodigy and began composing music at the age of seven. He studied at the Paris Conservatoire, where he developed a mastery of the symphonic form and wrote several pieces for the orchestra. His works for the stage are among the most popular and beloved of the Romantic era, including the ballets Coppélia and Sylvia, and the opera Lakmé.Delibes was a pioneer in the use of orchestral color and instrumental effects to enhance the dramatic narrative of his works. His works are often praised for their lyricism, graceful melodies, and colorful orchestrations. His music is considered to be a bridge between the grandiose and romantic works of the French composers before him, such as Gounod and Berlioz, and the more intimate and melodic style of composers like Debussy and Ravel.Delibes’ influence can be heard in the works of later composers such as Stravinsky and Prokofiev, and his music continues to be performed and enjoyed today. His contributions to music history are significant, and his works remain beloved masterpieces of the Romantic era.Léo Delibes' opera Lakmé is an opera in three acts. It was first performed in 1883 at the Théâtre Lyrique in Paris. The libretto was written by Edmond Gondinet and Philippe Gille. The story is set in British-occupied India and tells the story of a young Indian girl, Lakmé, who is in love with a British officer, Gerald. The story follows the couple's romantic journey, as well as the obstacles they face from Lakmé's father and the British military. The opera is best known for its beautiful score, which includes the famous aria The Flower Duet as well as the duet Lakmé! The Bell Song. The opera has been performed in opera houses all over the world and is considered one of Delibes' most popular works. The Duo des Fleurs, composed by French composer Léo Delibes, is a ballet pas de deux from the ballet Lakme, Act I. It is a beloved masterpiece of the Romantic period and is often performed as a standalone piece in many ballet performances. The piece is typically danced by two female ballet dancers and is known for its playful and lighthearted nature. The music consists of a melody that alternates between the two dancers and is often accompanied by a lighthearted waltz. The music has a strong sense of unity and connection between the two dancers, which is enhanced by the use of the same melody. The piece also features a beautiful soaring coda that gives it a sense of grandeur and beauty. The Duo des Fleurs is an exquisite piece of music and an enduring classic of the ballet repertoire.

String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.534402 Composed by Jacques Leguerney. 20th Century,Standards. Score and parts. 125 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #3457403. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.534402). Jacques Leguerney (1906-1997) composed two string quartets. The Premier Quatuor à cordes was composed in 1925 during Leguerneyâ??s private piano and composition study with French pianist Thérèse Cahen. His second quartet, subject of this publication by Musik Fabrik, was written between November 1947 and September 1948.  The four movements are: I. Allegro moderato; II. Intermezzo; III. Scherzando; IV. Presto-Andantino. This work was, in part, Leguerneyâ??s response to the Premier Quatuor à cordes (inédit) by his colleague, Henri Sauguet. Leguerney stated in a personal interview with Patrick Choukroun (18 May 1989) that: â??I wrote it a bit in opposition to Sauguetâ??s Premier Quatuor. It seemed to me that his quartet was without interest: just scratchings! I wanted to express my way of looking at it from the classical viewpoint of the past: it is almost in the spirit of Mozart, except for the harmonic language, of course. In fact, I wanted to fight against everything that has been done to a quartet since Beethovenâ??s last ones.â? The premiere of the Quatuor à cordes en ré mineur was by the Quatuor Pro Arte at the Abbaye de Royaumont. Before this performance, Poulenc sent Leguerney the following note: â??Fortunate man for whom twelve strings are enough to charm people, I wish you good luck and respectfully embrace you.â? (Handwritten letter, Reims, 4 September 1959). Leguerney was appointed artistic director of the Lumen recording company in 1951, and remained in this position until 1959. He produced four recordings of his music, including the Quatuor Pro Arteâ??s recording of the Quatuor à cordes en ré mineur (1947-1948) (Lumen, LD 2.440, 1958). This disc won the Grand Prix du Disque de lâ??Académie Charles Cros on 13 March 1959. The Pro Arteâ??s members were Suzanne Plazonich, Violin I; Chantal Beylier, Violin II; Nicole Gendreau, Viola; and Micheline Burtin, Cello. Francis Poulenc wrote to Leguerney concerning this recording: â??It is very good Leguerney. Of course, frivolous as I am and shall always remain, it is the 2nd movement that I prefer. Between us, I am like you: I prefer the scherzos after the andantes; that way one is not forced to write a Finale allegro. Yours pleases me very much, in fact, so to my ears it is III-IV-I-II, in the order of pleasure.â? (Manuscript letter, Bagnols, 14 October 1959) The radio station France I broadcast the Quatuor with on 11 July 1959 on the program Schola of the series Concert de musique contemporaine, again with the Quatuor Pro Arte. An archive recording of this broadcast exists on magnetic tape. Critic Claude Rostand wrote: â??Jacques Leguerney does not seem to have looked for special innovations either in form or language. His basic thought seems especially to have written a quartet, that is to say on one hand to have used the four voices with elegance and originality, clarity and homogeneity (four-part writing seems to always have come naturally to him, even at the piano), and on the other hand to exploit all of the supple cushioning that can result from the caress of a bow on a string.â? Critic Emile Vuillermoz wrote: â??His only ambition is to expresses clear and affectionate melodic ideas, in a highly distinguished, elegant and refined language, meaning an homage, in the beginning of our century, to the trios of the greatest stylists of our time. In fact, it is from the vocabulary of Fauré, Debussy and Ravel that he takes his grammar and syntax and that with which he carries out with his this harmonic writing that is both supple and sparse, that is so congenial to the association of four string instruments. This quartet, whose first movement is of a rare perfection, is a delicate enchantment.â? The Musik Fabrik edition of the Quatuor à cordes en ré mineur is taken from a photocopy of the composerâ??s manuscript of the full score. We also had access to the quartet parts found in Leg.

Published by Mary Ann Joyce-Walter (A0.989229). A familiar 19th century Irish ballad by the Irish poet, Eugene Field.  The poem and the music are touching and sad:  there are toys in the attic covered with dust, and the little toy soldier is red with rust, and his musket molds in his hands.  There was a time when the toys were new and Little Boy Blue kissed them and put them there.  He told them not to leave until he came to get them, but - an angel song awakened Little Boy Blue, and the years past.  The faithful toys stayed in the place where he put them, but they wondered sorrowfully what happened to their Little Boy Blue..

Published by Guido Menestrina (A0.828693). Heinrich Nicolaus [Nikolaus, Nicholas] Gerber was a German organist and composer. He matriculated as a law student at the University of Leipzig on May 8, 1724, and towards the end of the same year became a pupil of J.S. Bach. In 1731 he was appointed court organist to the Prince of Schwarzburg at Sondershausen, a post in which, upon his death, he was succeeded by his son, the music lexicographer Ernst Ludwig Gerber (1746-1819). E.L. Gerber's dictionary of musicians (Leipzig, 1790-1792; revised edition, 1812-1814) contains a vivid account of his father's tuition under J.S. Bach. Numerous keyboard works by J.S. Bach survive in copies made by Heinrich Nicolaus Gerber during his Leipzig years (1724-1727), including the Inventions and Sinfonias (BWV 772-801), the French Suites (BWV 812-817), English Suites Nos. 1, 3, 5, and 6 (BWV 816, 818, 810, 811), the first two Preludes and Fugues from The Well-tempered Clavier Part 1 (BWV 846-847), and some miscellaneous works (BWV 818, BWV 819, BWV 914, and BWV 996).
