Chamber Orchestra - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.931480 Arranged by N. Marasco. Christmas,Classical,Holiday,Sacred. Score and parts. 15 pages. Pubblicato da Nicola Marasco #6430229. Published by Pubblicato da Nicola Marasco (A0.931480). O du fröhliche is a German Christmas carol. The author of the original text was the prominent Weimar orphan father Johannes Daniel Falk (1768–1826).In late 1815, he dedicated this song to the children of the orphanage. The melody was taken from the anonymous Catholic hymn O Sanctissima (also known as Sicilian Mariners Hymn), which he found in the posthumous edition of J.G. Herder's Stimmen der Völker in Liedern after hearing it sung by Pietro Granucci, an Italian foundling under his care. In Falk's original text, the song was titled Allerdreifeiertagslied (A song for three holidays), highlighting the three major festivals of Christianity: Christmas, Easter and Pentecost.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.891939 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Stephen Davies. Baroque,Standards. 28 pages. Stephen Davies #5361315. Published by Stephen Davies (A0.891939). In this arrangement the key has been altered to suit the instruments range for the classic Wind Quintet combination of Flute, Oboe, Bb Clarinet, French Horn & Bassoon. Programme Notes: THE PRELUDE The solemn and expressive character of the melody line is somewhat reminiscent of much of Bach's passion music, and weaves between the players with utmost ease. The Preludes most prominent melodic feature is the octave leap heard on all parts throughout the music, which leads to a satisfying conclusion. THE FUGUE Coming in at a whopping 115 bars, this is one of Bach's longest and most complex fugues. With three themes woven through together in five voices as only Bach can, this fugue offers a competent group of instrumentalists with many technical and interpretive challenges! Also available here in Clarinet & Saxophone Quintet flavours!

Instrumental Duet Alto Saxophone,Instrumental Duet,Tenor Saxophone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.589322 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by David McKeown. Jewish,Wedding,World. Score and parts. 5 pages. David McKeown #6022259. Published by David McKeown (A0.589322). Silver Wedding, (Die Silberne Khasene in Yiddish), is a Jewish Folk tune, often performed by Klezmer musicians. This version is arranged as a duet for one Alto and one Tenor Saxophone. Jewish Wedding bands, prominent in early twentieth century New York, were well placed to take advantage of the phonograph recording revolution. Accordingly, we are fortunate to have a rich record of the musical style of the time. Silver Wedding first appeared in a 1915 recording by Abe Elenkrig’s Orchestra. Elenkrig was born in Ukraine, which may point to the origins of the tune. Silver Wedding is in a Bulgar style, a happy piece designed to escort the newly-weds from the ceremony to the feast. Silver Wedding is simply arranged in a key and range best suited to the instruments. The melody is in three sections; overall the tune is played twice with a short introduction and coda and with constant variations in the accompaniment. Silver Wedding is suitable for players at an intermediate level and above. With a performance time of around three minutes, this version of Silver Wedding is perfect for weddings, celebrations and concert performances, both formal and informal. Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.844244 By John Coltrane. By John Coltrane. Arranged by Gerhard Guter. Jazz. 10 pages. Gerhard Guter #4267419. Published by Gerhard Guter (A0.844244). If you’re looking for an up-tempo, minor blues swing with plenty of space for scatting and instrumental improvisation, then dig P.C.! This arrangement of the John Coltrane classic, which pays tribute to legendary jazz bassist and Miles Davis compatriot Paul Chambers, provides an exciting introduction, statement of the theme in varied textures, a challenging (optional) soli, and room for lots of energetic drum solos. Following an introductory figure reminiscent of Miles Davis and Victor Feldman’s well-known Seven Steps to Heaven collaboration, the arrangement features two optional background choruses to keep the blowing fresh and interesting. After the improvisation, the drums and piano drop out, sending off a challenging, optional soli (18 second mark in demo) featuring a doubled, walking vocal and acoustic bassline. As this section concludes, the acoustic bass drops out and the drums re-enter, propelling a fugal statement of the melody (25 second mark in demo). Following a return to the head, the arrangement modulates upward by whole step to its exciting conclusion. Piano, bass, and drums read off the included composite rhythm section part. The arrangement, which makes prominent use of sharp ninth chords during the head, is a great teaching tool for basses and altos in any vocal jazz ensemble! Demo performed by Christine Guter, Gerhard Guter, and Dina Humble Backing tracks available here: http://tiny.cc/mpnsuz
