Dance of the Blessed Spirits is Baroque music but without counterpoint. It is famed for being a clear and early example of monody and homophony.
It has been recorded by many concert artists over the years, and exists in other piano solo arrangements. Our goal here is, as always, to make this repertoire easily readable and playable, whilst retaining the charm, grace, and serene elegance of the other more difficult or embellished settings.
The bassline is given here on the lower clef, but the chords which alternate above are given in the same treble staff the melody is written in. This gives the eye a chance to see the harmony without a swarm of bass clef ledgerlines. It is also preferable to a three-stave approach, which makes the eye move too often from clef to clef. Tempo given is a usual one for concert artists, such as Kissin. MBB
