The 2nd Edition became widely popular and used by clarinetists around the world, and this new 3rd Edition adds 127 fingerings for a total offering of over 300 fingerings through four and a half octaves in quarter-tones for clarinet, from written E3 to A7.Author's Notes:Ten years have passed since releasing the 2nd Edition of my Bass Clarinet Quarter-Tone Fingering Charts, which coincided with the first release of a chart for soprano clarinet. I’m now already on the 3rd Edition of both the clarinet and bass clarinet charts, which are being released simultaneously, following the recent release of a compilation of three separate charts for Leblanc, Selmer, and Eppelsheim contrabass clarinets.The first obvious change in the 3rd Edition is to the title. I have added Altissimo to better reflect that these charts are not only useful for their quarter-tones, but also for their stratospheric range. The quotes tell her to act a certain way or mold into a specific shape, but also mention to not go too far in either category. Not having a clear direction and attempting to please others makes the singer feel like they're losing their mind.Lauren Mayberry, the lead vocalist, said The barebones of thesong were there in about an hour and the opening line of thesong was the first lyric that came out.The song released with a music video following Mayberry trapped inside a transparent revolving door with no way ofescaping. After hearing a version of Laughter in the Rain by singer Lea Roberts on the radio several weeks before the planned release of his single, Sedaka phoned Elton John to have MCA Records rush the Sedaka version to release within five days. The opening chord of the chorus was based on that used by John in Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, which Sedaka has described as a drop-dead chord. He combined that with a pentatonic melody inspired by Aaron Copland. Cody claims to have written the lyrics in about five minutes after smoking marijuana and falling asleep under a tree for a couple of hours.
