This intermediate concert band piece, written in ¾ time, has a march like feel that is festive. It is the perfect piece to open a spring concert. The clarinet section plays over the bridge and the snare drum has multiple rolls. Trumpets play a large range going from low B to high D. Several mini themes are grouped by instrumentation with the main theme returning at the end. Specific articulation has been included along with trills in the upper woodwinds to provide a characteristic celebration to mark the end of winter and introduce spring.

This solo piano piece is inspired by the emotions one gets on their first few weeks in a new relationship. It starts with a pure yet mysterious melody played timidly. The melody grows as the relationship does. It goes into a lively feel and adds spirit and texture to the piece. It rolls into a moving section that adds chromaticism and texture to the piece that builds to a harsh yet powerful climax. This fades away back to our original melody, this time infused with the theme from the lively section. The piece ends on a major seventh, just the way it starts, with a sense of longing and anticipation.

Movin’ Thru is a fun, jazzy, bluessy shuffle tune; which is based on the 12 bar B-flat blues form. Movin' Thru could be a fun concert opener or closer! Depending on how many solos are taken the duration of this piece will vary. This piece is enjoyable for beginners as well as experience musicians. Beginners are encourage to just improvise off of the melody as well as the concert B-flat scale.
This piece focuses on unison playing and a bit of rhythmic independence. At the beginning, player II – does not need to play the rhythm exactly, but should focus on creating a round and strong sound! The director may choose to add piano tremolo’s, cymbal rolls or anything else during the �rst measure! Bars 12 and 13 need to be rhythmically accurate, chiefly for part I and part II. If part II are trumpet players they need to make sure that they take-out their harmon mute for those bars as it will give an extra punch!
