Marimba Solo - Digital Download SKU: A0.499204 By Pat Metheny. By Pat Metheny. Arranged by Gregory Beyer. Folk,Jazz,Standards. Individual part. 9 pages. Published by Gregory Beyer (A0.499204). This is a 5.0 marimba arrangement of Pat Metheny's solo baritone guitar rendition of Last Train Home as recorded on the album, One Quiet Night. It is transposed up a minor third (to the key of Ab major from F major) in order to accommodate the lowest notes of the baritone guitar (A1) on the 5.0 marimba (C2). Perhaps someday someone will make a 5.3 octave version of this in Metheny's original key. During the pandemic, I have deliberately chosen to take a deeper look at some of the music that moves me deeply. When I was a kid my next neighbor, Bob Holt, happened to be the local college music professor. He introduced me to a lot of wonderful music, including Pat Metheny’s album “Still Life Talking,†which features the song, “Last Train Home.†In 2003, Metheny released a solo baritone guitar album, “One Quiet Night,†on which “Last Train Home†makes a re-appearance. I’ve always thought that this version of the tune would make a great marimba project.

Piano Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1041003 By Isadar. By Isadar. Classical,Contemporary,Jazz,New Age. Score. 9 pages. Mainya Music Publishing (BMI) #645734. Published by Mainya Music Publishing (BMI) (A0.1041003). Contains:End Of The Line - taken from the Isadar solo piano collection, The Journey (available soon on SheetMusicDirect and SheetMusicPlus) Sounds like: Liz Story, George Winston, early Windham Hill solo piano artists Transcribed by: David Shenton ( https://www.shentonmusic.com/ ) verbatim to the sound recording Album & Songbook review by:Kathy Parsons (MainlyPiano.com): Isadar’s fourth solo piano album is a blend of smooth jazz and new age, showing both his impressive technique and sensitivity to melody. Several of the eight selections are free-form and improvisational, revealing some of Liz Story’s influence on his music. Some of Isadar’s earlier recordings have very dark, moody sections, but this one stays fairly upbeat and optimistic without being ear candy. The music is complex enough to sink your teeth into, and yet is accessible enough to enjoy as a backdrop to a quiet dinner or an evening with a good book. Joyful Running begins the journey with an exuberant and uplifting piece that reminds me a little of some of Spencer Brewer’s bouncier compositions. Fountain of Life is a beautiful piece with a water-like flow that never stops in its 10 1/2 minutes. I listened to this CD several times without realizing that this song was that long. It flows and meanders so effortlessly that it seemed no longer than the other seven selections, most of which are between four and five minutes in length. Unstructured and free, this is one of my favorite tracks. I also really like the title track, which is even more abstract and unstructured. The tone is of searching and moving forward. End of the Line is my favorite on this album. Very introspective and contemplative, this seems to be a very personal piece. It is the most somber track, but one still senses hope despite the ending of something dear and important. Or maybe it’s simply the end of the journey and the dread of returning to real life - I feel this way on the last day of my vacations! It is a wonderful and moving closing to an excellent album. The companion songbook is expertly transcribed and engraved by David Shenton of New York Music Publishing. The layout of the music is clear and uncluttered, and the notation includes pedal markings and dynamics that allow the pianist to express the music as closely as possible to how Isadar played it on the recording. A few of the pieces are quite long and require a more advanced pianist who is able to express the nuances that keep the recording so interesting, but several of the pieces are well within the capabilities of upper intermediate players. Some of the rhythms are a little bit tricky, but the majority of the left hand parts are running eighth notes, which make it easier. None of the key signatures are difficult, and none of the chords have a reach of more than an octave, making this music very playable for smaller hands. My favorite pieces to play in this book are Joyful Running, Voice of God (Thanksgiving), Smoke Signals, and End of the Line. Isadar is an artist on both Enlightened Piano Radio & Whisperings Solo Piano Radio, the latter featuring some of today's biggest names in solo piano music, including Ludovico Einaudi, David Nevue, Brian Crain, Kevin Kern, Robin Spielberg, Michele McLaughlin, Philip Wesley and over 300 more... Concert Band - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1024060 Composed by John Dorhauer. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and Parts. 126 pages. John J Dorhauer #59173. Published by John J Dorhauer (A0.1024060). Back to School 2015 This standalone movement balances chaotic, breakneck ensemble writing with placid, luscious quieter moments. Inspired by the fifth chapter of the Book of Revelation, the music vividly depicts the duality of the lion/lamb character (hence the plurality of the title), and the ample use of mixed meter and solo opportunities (particularly for flute and percussion) will offer an engaging challenge to most high school ensembles. Although this is the middle movement of a three-movement work, it works in its own self-contained world. Contact information: johnjdorhauer@gmail.com PRO: ASCAP Social Media: https://www.facebook.com/JohnDorhauer?fref=ts / https://twitter.com/JohnDorhauer Duration: 9 minutes Year of Release: 2011 Program Notes: This composition is intended to function on two different levels: it is simultaneously a programmatic depiction of the events that unfold in Revelation 5 and a musical representation of the duality found in the scripture. It was this sense of duality that persuaded me to keep the s at the end of Revelation in the title – it is as if there are multiple revelations to be found within both the scripture and my musical interpretation of it. In the book of Revelation, the prophet John is sharing an apocalyptic vision to a group of churches in Asia as a means of hope – even though these people were being persecuted for their beliefs, John promises the rapture in which God will save the believers and destroy the nonbelievers. The fifth chapter begins with John’s ascension to heaven, and it concludes just before the Christ-like Lion of Judah breaks the seals of the scroll that will unleash the rapture. While this is intended to be a message of hope, it will also bring about cataclysmic death and destruction. Herein lies the duality – how can a message of hope come as the result of such a violent outcome? Movement II (of three) corresponds with only verse 6, and it is more of a character study than a programmatic narrative. It examines the Lion of Judah character, which is portrayed at first as an overwhelming and aggressive figure after it approaches from the distance in the hazy beginning section. This character is also depicted in the scripture as a lamb, though, and this is reflected in the piece’s latter half, which is a softer reimagining of the Lion character’s material. The Lion and the Lamb are not two different characters but, rather, different sides of the same character. It is this duality that drives the movement, and it explains the connections between these otherwise distinct sections. This movement was originally performed by the CCPA Wind Ensemble in April 2010 when it received first place in CCPA’s wind ensemble composition contest.

Christian,Holiday,Religious,Sacred,Traditional. Score. 29 pages. Amanda Tero #957915. Published by Amanda Tero (A0.1373611). Do you need Valentine's Hymns for church services in February? These 5 hymns cover God's love to us, Jesus's love to us, and our love to Him.Written in the key of C, these 5 early intermediate piano solos have simple patterns that are easy for the intermediate pianist to sightread. These early intermediate hymn solos are equivalent to most Level 2 and 3 curricula.Ideal for church services (especially in February), Valentine’s banquets, conferences, recitals, and more!Arranged to be simple yet tasteful in style. Here is all the information you’ll need to decide if this collection of early intermediate sheet music is the level you’re looking for:·         All in the Key of C (What Wondrous Love is This? is in A Dorian—no accidentals in key signature)·         No key changes·         Basic format: intro, verse/chorus, interlude, verse/chorus, ending·         2 verses each·         Single-note melody in the right hand (brief LH melody in The Love of God)·         Mostly broken 5ths and triads in the left hand·         Repetitive patterns for easy learning·         Similar chords between verses·         Note reading up to 2 ledger lines·         Rhythm not faster than eighth notes·         Just 1 page turn each (exception: Oh, How I Love Jesus has 2) Jesus Loves Me is an old favorite, often seen as a “children’s song.†However, the words to this hymn of love are just as important for adults as for children. While a simple arrangement, this is not a childish sounding arrangement.·         Features an “echo†melody written 8va·         Left hand in treble clef for portions·         Ends with hand crossing My Jesus, I Love Thee begins unexpectedly with colorful chords that finally release tension into a calm first verse. There are slight jazz textures in this arrangement but also classical elements with scales and Alberti bass.·         Rich chord textures (just a hint of jazz/dissonance)·         Accidentals·         Right hand scales (ascending & descending) Oh, How I Love Jesus is a cheerful arrangement with just a hint of cinematic-style melodies. The chords are very similar between verse 1 and 2 in this arrangement, making it especially easy for the pianist to learn.·         6/8 meter·         Cinematic elements·         Chords repeat: open 5ths and 6ths or filled in triads/chords The Love of God starts with left hand melody, making this different from all the other arrangements. The goal is for this to be a seamless melody transition between the hands while the non-melody hand supports at a slightly lower volume.·         Left hand melody for part·         Right hand chords for part·         Left hand repeats in different octaves for broader sound What Wondrous Love is This? is a haunting conclusion to the collection. It is predominantly arranged with open 5ths in the left hand and repeating patterns in the right hand. It ends with slow, four-note chords that are very hymn-like.·         A Dorian mode·         Very easy left hand (repeating open 5ths)·         Sounds harder than it really is.

Brass Quintet Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1377195 By Floyd Cramer. By Harry Warren and Mack Gordon. Arranged by Peet du Toit. Jazz. 18 pages. Peet du Toit #961811. Published by Peet du Toit (A0.1377195). Chattanooga Choo Choo is a 1941 song written by Mack Gordon and composed by Harry Warren. It was originally recorded as a big band/swing tune by Glenn Miller and His Orchestra and featured in the 1941 movie Sun Valley Serenade. It was the first song to receive a gold record, presented by RCA Victor in 1942, for sales of 1.2 million copies. The song opens up with the band, sounding like a train rolling out of the station, complete with the trumpets and trombones imitating a train whistle, before the instrumental portion comes in playing two parts of the main melody. This is followed by the vocal introduction of four lines before the main part of the song is heard. The main song opens with a dialog between a passenger and a shoeshine boy:Pardon me, boy, is that the Chattanooga Choo Choo?Yes, yes, Track 29!Boy, you can give me a shine. Can you afford to board the Chattanooga Choo Choo?I've got my fare, and just a trifle to spare. The singer describes the train's route, originating from Pennsylvania Station in New York and running through Baltimore to North Carolina before reaching Chattanooga. He mentions a woman he knew from an earlier time in his life, who will be waiting for him at the station and with whom he plans to settle down for good. After the entire song is sung, the band plays two parts of the main melody as an instrumental, with the instruments imitating the WHOO WHOO of the train as the song ends. Here's my representation thereof with Sam Harrill's nifty percussion score supporting it.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1014258 Composed by Yik Khai. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score. 5 pages. Yew Yik Khai #3036613. Published by Yew Yik Khai (A0.1014258). Looking Back by Yik Khai. This is my first ever composition for piano. Hope you find it enjoyable to listen and play. :)The piece depicts someone, who has gone through so much in life - be it happiness, sorrow, triumph or grief, stopping for a moment and looking back. Turning around and taking a good long look of the past and letting all sorts of memories gush into his mind, bringing back all those long forgotten nostalgia. The intro of the piece, is when he sits down, his mind slowly steps out from the present reality and starts to wander off in search of the past. Throughout the piece, he encounters fond memories which will always be a joy to think of, and also bad memories, which he is powerless to amend, and so lets them pass on like a flowing river. At the end, he steps back slowly into the present, after an amazing short trip through the life he has lived. The piece is generally played with pedal throughout with rubato at a relaxed tone. Don't rush the piece by following the tempo markings exactly, adjust to your own liking and the most important part is that I hope you can relax, enjoy the piece when you're playing it. ;)Enjoy the YouTube video : https://youtu.be/s41T1AYHXjQFeel free to contact me at yewyk@live.com.my , Follow me on Instagram @yikkhai
