Saxophone quartet Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Soprano Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.764652 Composed by Cecile Chaminade. Arranged by James Pybus. 20th Century,Contest,Festival. 26 pages. James Pybus #35431. Published by James Pybus (A0.764652). Cécile Louise Stéphanie Chaminade (8 August 1857 – 13 April 1944) was a French composer and pianist. Born in Paris, she studied at first with her mother, then with Félix Le Couppey on piano, Marie Gabrie Augustin Savard, Martin Pierre Marsick on violin, and Benjamin Godard in music composition, but not officially, since her father disapproved of her musical education. Her teacher, Benjamin Goddard gave her an assignment to complete, a ballet symphonique, Callirhoë, Op. 37 (1888) that enjoyed many performances which added to its success. Movements from this work were extracted and fashioned for solo piano, namely Pas des écharpes, (Scarf Dance) and Pas des amphores, (Amphora Dance), both of which became popular staples of the piano repertory. This arrangement written in 2014 is playable by either SATB or AATB saxophone quartet. The original key has been changed to a more saxophone-friendly key. Thank you to my friend Mr. Freddy Gruenebaum, leader of the Saxophonia Quartet, based in Huntington Beach, California, for suggesting this wonderful composer’s work to me. Duration 4:13 contact me at james.pybus56@gmail.com.

Piano - intermediate to advanced - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q6759 Composed by Charles Marie Widor. This edition: Sheet music. Downloadable. Op. 1 und 29. Schott Music - Digital #Q6759. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q6759). Key: E minor.Whereas the organ works by Widor have secured a solid position in the repertoire, his no less elaborate and artistic piano works are known to only a small circle of pianists, probably because the piano works by Debussy and Ravel outdid him in this field. 'Variations de Concert sur un thème original' carried by profound melancholy were published in 1867 for the first time and have remained his non-verifiable opus 1 to this day. They show that the young composer takes the tonal language of J. S. Bach as a starting point, yet gives his cycle of variations, which is reminiscent of the 'Goldberg Variations', its own romantic expression. In 1876 he revised the variations and published them under the slightly modified title of 'Variations sur un Thème original pour piano' Op. 29. Our carefully edited new edition contains both versions (Op. 1 and Op. 29) about which one may say without exaggeration that they should be in the possession of every concert pianist.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1029473 Composed by Anne M. H. Patterson. Contemporary. Score. 5 pages. A. Patterson #4984267. Published by A. Patterson (A0.1029473). This wistfully melancholy piano solo is inspired by Penelope from Homer's Odyssey.  Penelope is the portrait of desperate longing, as she waits for her husband Odysseus to return for twenty years.  This piece is the perfect musical companion for those times you long for the return of a loved one. This piece is challenging with a portion in E-flat minor (six flats), many heavy chords, and arpeggios (I am still brushing it up myself!).  I would say, however, that if one can handle Debussy's Claire de Lune, he can handle this piece.  I suggest using the sustain pedal to your advantage so as to be able to take different portions of the arpeggios with different hands.  Despite the rhythmic and technical challenges, this entire piece ought to be expressive from start to finish.  A rather cathartic piece in nature, this is the piece to let your emotions guide.Hopefully, there will be a YouTube channel with recordings of this piece and all my future pieces.  Stay tuned for more information!  For any comments, questions, and other constructive feedback, contact me at amhpatterson.music@gmail.com.

Violin Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.970720 Composed by Mike Strand. Concert,Jazz. 3 pages. Michael M. Strand #4830627. Published by Michael M. Strand (A0.970720). By Mike Strand, ASCAP This is a lead sheet for a jazz combo or ensemble, a good basis for a variety of arrangements, improvisations, or contrafacts. The audio sample is my melody from Finale PrintMusic, combined with an iReal Pro swing accompaniment. I’ve designated the melody for solo violin, an instrument that I would like to see and hear more often in jazz ensembles.  You will hear a violin carry the melody in the audio sample. Playing the solo on violin solves a possible difficulty in performance. Problem:  This piece may be too challenging for many wind instrument players (brass, woodwind). Solution:  This piece is well suited to a non-wind instrument player!  Violin springs to mind. Violin is especially appropriate here:  This tune has lots of notes; similar to a solo violin partita prelude or up-tempo dance movement by J. S. Bach.  A wind instrument player told me that finding spots for taking a breath was a challenge. This is not to discourage wind players from experimenting with the piece, adjusting it in places if necessary.  A wind player may include more breathing spots for relief in his or her improvisation! Note for composers:  I adapted this piece from the 5th (swing) movement of my Partita II, for solo violin, also for sale on this site.

Guitar,Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1126233 Composed by Paul Addison. Arranged by Paul Addison. Broadway,Children,Christian,Musical/Show. Score. 55 pages. Paul Addison #726936. Published by Paul Addison (A0.1126233). Seeds Along the Way is a musical about the life of the biblical King David, written by Paul Addison. David gets to see the major events of his life with the help of his guardian angel, Gabrielle. This manner of storytelling combines elements of It’s a Wonderful Life, A Christmas Carol, and the old TV show This Is Your Life. Each event in David’s life is told through a song. It was originally written as a VBS (Vacation Bible School) musical. Although everyone in Israel is singing his praises, David questions the purpose of his life. Gabrielle shows him that everyone’s life is important, and that the good things that we do are like seeds planted along the way, which may not sprout and grow until much later. After reviewing his past, David is given a glimpse of the future, and realizes that he is one of many who are preparing for the coming of Jesus Christ. The musical is based on the stories from the Bible, mainly from 1 and 2 Samuel, but also including a Psalm and a geneaology listing from Matthew. David throws in a couple of bad puns as he tries to understand what Gabrielle is trying to tell him. The accompaniment is written for piano, but is appropriate for a praise team or a small dance band. The styles are quite varied, including cha-cha, pop, bossa nova, ballad, dirge, blues, jazz, and waltz. The piano accompaniment could be supplemented by percussion instruments (tambourine, maracas, woodblock, cowbell, etc.), as well as guitar, saxophone, and drums. The songs are at an Easy Intermediate level. The only stage requirements are a small balcony or elevated level with a railing or fence, and a floor area for the chorus. The musical consists of 10 scenes, but the two narrator characters remain on the balcony, and the floor area only needs to be changed in case the chorus members use different costumes and/or props for the different scenes. I hope you enjoy this musical. Address any questions to me at paulhaddison@gmail.com.

String Quartet String Quartet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.749197 By Christina Perri. By Christina Perri and David Hodges. Arranged by HELEN MARPLE-HORVAT. Pop. Score and parts. 14 pages. I arrange songs for a wedding quartet and this is often chosen by the bride and groom for their special day. If you would like to watch a professional performance of this piece, visit my channel by typing Skinny Black Dogs, Capriccio Quartet, A Thousand Years, into Youtube. This arrangement is 4 mins long and in B flat major. It is not the easiest of keys for strings but neither is it the hardest. It needs lots of vibrato, especially for the first violin, and subtlety from the inner parts to make sure they are heard but do not overpower the melody. The excerpt is from the instrumental section in which I exercised a little creativity! I would think players would need to be ABRSM Grade 7 to be able to play this well, but I could be wrong! Send me a phone recording via Facebook. I would love to hear young people play this!

Woodwind Ensemble - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.996127 Composed by Modest Petrovich Mussorgsky. Arranged by Erik Cole. Romantic Period. 22 pages. Erik Cole #4793079. Published by Erik Cole (A0.996127). This is a transcription of the complete Pictures at an Exhibition for double reed choir. It is all in the original keys and based on the well-known Ravel orchestration, which is quite difficult. As a result, this arrangement is even more challenging. It is designed with at least 2 players per part in mind, and all of the oboe and bassoon parts are divisi throughout. The attached MP3 recordings are multi-track recordings of me playing all the parts. This was, by far, the most daunting recording I have put together for any of my arrangements, and I apologize for any minor imperfections in timing or pitch. In many places, this really stretched the limits of what I am capable of on bassoon. This is easily the most technically challenging of the movements, though I didn’t wind up having to add much more in difficulty over what Ravel already wrote in his orchestration.

The high trills are all doable, but are definitely a big challenge.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.719728 Composed by Various. Arranged by Curtis Hanson. Sacred. Octavo. 11 pages. Curtis Hanson #4573003. Published by Curtis Hanson (A0.719728). As years come and go, one increasingly recalls memories of earlier times. One of the most vivid and cherished memories I have while growing up is of Sunday mornings, going to church, sitting in the same pew each week with my grandmother, hearing and singing the beautiful hymns of our faith, and then returning home to the aroma of beef slowly roasting in the oven. My father directed the church choir, my mother and older brothers sang in the choir, so the wonderful music of our faith was instilled in me from an early age. This medley, and others in the series, are arrangements of many of my favorite hymns from those early years, many of which have been lost in more recent editions. For this series, I have elected to use the older texts as that is the way they were first written and the way I first learned them. There is a reverence and beauty in the language enriching the vocal/choral tone which, I believe, is lost in contemporary, conversational, or politically correct syntax. I shudder to think of the day when a penitential phrase such as Hear thou my prayer, O Lord is rendered as Hey, God-dude, listen up - I'm talkin' atcha! I have also opted not to include the many wonderful hymns and carols which are associated with the major festivals of Christmas and Easter as those are commonly found in other collections. A caveat: I have no delusions, and I offer no pretenses, that these settings are great art. They are simply expressions of faith which I hope may bring a small measure of joy to other church musicians. The general concept of each medley is to present the hymn, often in its original chorale form, and then vary its harmony or texture. The hymns in this set include This Is My Father's World, I Love to Tell the Story, and Faith of Our Fathers.

String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin,Voice - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.749224 By Sia. By Jesse Shatkin and Sia. Arranged by HELEN MARPLE-HORVAT. Pop. Score and parts. 20 pages. Helen Marple-Horvat #4968413. Published by Helen Marple-Horvat (A0.749224). I can remember the time when I first heard this beautiful song, with a dancer at a youth theatre production. I was totally blown away! Written by Sia Furler and Jesse Hatkin, it was nominated for four Grammys in 2014 and the music video is one of the most viewed Youtube videos ever posted! I have made a one minute video of this Voice and Quartet version of the song, plus the thirty second audio clip which features the introduction. My daughter, Alice Rose Wild, is singing the vocal part. This is one of my favourite arrangements and you can view a professional quartet play a live version of the Quartet but without the singer at my Youtube Channel, Helen Marple-Horvat Songwriter, Arranger, Composer, Capriccio Quartet, Chandelier. It is in a different key, and the first violin has the tune which entails more double stopping for the other players. Otherwise it is quite similar to the this version. The bowing is only a guide, so feel free to use lots of bow changes if it helps you to play it like a rock star! You can hear Capriccio Quartet play some of my other arrangements at my Youtube Channel. Most of them are available from Sheet Music Plus. Send me any recordings you do of the piece even if it is just on your phone. I can be reached on Facebook messenger very easily.

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1205290 By 2nd Chapter Of Acts. By Anne Herring. Arranged by Tracey Phillips. Christian,Easter,Praise & Worship,Religious,Sacred. Score. 5 pages. Tracey L Phillips #803462. Published by Tracey L Phillips (A0.1205290). Easter Medley for advanced piano. Easter Hymn Llanfair, Easter Song, Joy To The World, He Lives. Key of C, 2 min 45 seconds. Creative arrangement that includes part of a Christmas tune in an Easter arrangement. In the beginning, chimes ring out Christ the Lord is Risen Today! Hear the Bells Ringing, they're singing that Christ is risen from the dead! The time signature changes often, but rarely is slow. This arrangement is peppy, but also haunting and soft in the minor parts that build dynamically and chordally to He Is Risen! I end with a triumphant portion of He Lives, ending with the Easter Song again. This is a powerful, dramatic, fun, interesting arrangement for advanced piano soloists that is just right for Easter Sunday offertory, special solo, prelude, or postlude. Time signatures used are 4/4, 3/4 in 3, 3/4 in 1, and 2/4, with several tempo changes, arpeggions, two octave gliss into Joy To The World. If you want to celebrate on Easter Sunday, take a look at this piece. I included an mp3, and a video of me playing for you to hear what it sounds like. Thank you for considering this piece.

In many places, this really stretched the limits of what I am capable of on bassoon. Both of these movements are fairly short and unlikely to be performed unless the entire piece is being performed, so I bundled them together. Con Mortuis functions as the final Promenade for the whole piece, and features high tremolos and the harp, which made for some transcription challenges. The first oboe part is quite difficult, and the high octave can be omitted if necessary.
