Score and part. 15 pages. Jmsgu3 #3473699. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549256). Flight of the Bumblebee from Korsakov's Tale of Tsar Saltan Score: 9 pages, Solo part: 3 pages, Piano accompaniment part: 3 pages. Duration: ca. 1:15 Amaze your listeners with this short but stunning recital encore! Korsakov: Flight of the Bumblebee Flight of the Bumblebee is, to be sure, an orchestral interlude composed by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov for his opera The Tale of Tsar Saltan. Korsakov, of course, intended to musically portray the chaotic flying pattern of a bumblebee. Nowadays, this piece is one of the comparatively more famous classical works because it frequently appears from time to time in popular culture. In the opera, the piece appears notably at the close of Act III, Tableau 1. This is when the magic Swan-Bird, in fact, changes the Prince (the son of the Tsar) into a bee so he can fly away to visit his father. Interestingly, at this point in the drama, his father, in effect, does not know that he is alive.   Korsakov Background Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov (1844 –1908) was a uniquely famous composer from Russia. He was likewise a member of an infamous assembly of composers called The Five. Korsakov was furthermore an expert in orchestration. His correspondingly most famous orchestral compositions-Capriccio Espagnol, the Russian Easter Festival Overture, and the Scheherazade suite-are important monuments of the standard music repertoire.  Also, comparatively very important are his suites and excerpts from his 15 operas. Korsakov was moreover fond of using Russian folklore and fairy tales in his music, such as Scheherazade.  Nationalistic Style Korsakov believed, similarly to fellow outspoken composer Balakirev, in creating a nationalistic, Russia-centric style of classical music. The new style was in fact called Orientalism. It similarly relied on native Russian materials, exotic scales, and experimental harmonic, melodic and rhythmic procedures. This practice, conversely, ran counter to the developments in Western musical culture. Musical Developments Nevertheless, Korsakov developed an appreciation of Western musical techniques after he became a professor of musical composition, harmony, and orchestration at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory in 1871. Moreover, he undertook a rigorous three-year program of self-education and mastered Western methods, incorporating them in conjunction with the influences of Mikhail Glinka and other members of The Five. His techniques of composition and orchestration were additionally enriched by his exposure to the works of Richard Wagner. Naval Service Korsakov combined his music career accordingly with a career in the Russian military. He was in the first place an officer in the Russian Navy. In due time, he was appointed as a civilian Inspector of Naval Bands. As a result, Korsakov expanded his knowledge of woodwind and brass playing, which in turn heightened his capabilities in orchestration. Legacy Korsakov in due time contributed a significant number of Russian nationalist works. He also prepared, from time to time, compositions by The Five for presentation. This brought their works straightaway into the active classical repertoire as well. He also shaped an entire generation of younger composers during his time as a music educator. Therefore, music historians consider Korsakov as the foremost engineer of what the public considers to be the Russian style of composition. He served, all in all, as a transitional figure between The Five and the classically trained composers who became the norm over time. In addition to the Russians, he forthwith influenced non-Russian composers such as Ravel, Debussy, Dukas, and Respighi.

Small Ensemble Guitar,Piano,Ukulele,Voice - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.992357 Composed by Tim Fatchen, Flying Tadpole. Children,Contemporary,Folk. Score and parts. 44 pages. Flying Tadpole Productions #3467356. Published by Flying Tadpole Productions (A0.992357). TEN CHILDREN'S SONGS for adults and smarter kids: it's satire but ecologically, it's CORRECT! The Songes are a satirical counterpoint to the fluffy guff that's so often passed off as kids' songs. They're fun to sing, easy to play, sufficiently gross to satisfy the bloodthirsty urges of older children, entertaining and, seriously, quite scientifically correct. Honesty in children's songs, a new thing in the world! All the Songes have been tested on line and at public performance. ECOLOGICAL REALITY BYTES! It's not all sweetness and light and tree-hugs out there in the Wonderful Ecological World, oh no! So here's the start of a re-education in ecological reality for you! Explore the murderous wooden hearts of trees! Learn the real reason for the decline of Fairy Penguins! Find your place on the Food Chain! There's an architecturally-acclaimed how-to blend your house with nature! And there's more!LEAD SHEETS, LYRIC SHEETS WITH CHORDS, LINER NOTESEach of the Songes can be printed separately as a 4-page booklet, with the lead sheets on the central two pages, the title and liner notes on the front page, and the lyrics only + chords on the back page.PARENTAL ADVISORY! While there's no profanity or overt/covert sexual innuendo anywhere, some adults find the content challenging, because it's not the view of Nature they'd like to have. Kids find these Songes great, especially the grosser ones, and may be able to help such adults cope. There should be parental or other adult guidance in anything like this because it is satire and may need explaining, and it's not for young children. FLYING TADPOLE AND TIM FATCHENThe virtual band Flying Tadpole started as a boat and turned into a state of mind. Mainly the cutting satire, cruel humor, blue angst and general mayhem of the scurrilous and dark alter ego of Tim Fatchen, Flying Tadpole is occasionally joined by others unwise enough to cross to the Dark Side, but wise enough to remain on another Continent. Both lurk in the depths of Mr Dunn's 1844 Mill, in Mount Barker in the beautiful Adelaide Hills, South Australia, and try not to be a blight on the landscape.  Their website is at www.flyingtadpole.com

Published by Sandra Milliken (A0.774756). Khe Sanh (named after the Vietnam War's Battle of Khe Sanh) was written by Don Walker, the pianist for the Australian rock band Cold Chisel. It tells about an Australian Vietnam veteran trying to deal with his return to civilian life – womanising, post traumatic stress disorder, drug addiction, working on oil rigs and flying helicopters, travelling the world in search of answers. It is a life, he says, that only other vets (veterans) would understand.Released in May 1978, the song achieved only modest success on the national charts at the time, but did reach No. 4 in Cold Chisel's home town of Adelaide. In 2001, APRA, the Australasian music industry's peak body, listed Khe Sanh at number eight in a poll of all-time best Australian songs. In November 2014, the song was added to the National Film and Sound Archive's Sounds of Australia registry of historically, culturally and aesthetically significant sound recordings.Khe Sanh still receives strong airplay on Australian radio stations with a classic rock format. This arrangement for male choir (TTBB) features a piano accompaniment with guitar chords.

Handbells handbell choir (3-5 octaves) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: H1.2053DP Composed by William Harold Neidlinger. Arranged by Cynthia Dobrinski. Education, Christmas, Sacred. Handbell score. 8 pages. Hope Publishing - Digital #2053DP. Published by Hope Publishing - Digital (H1.2053DP). By William H. Neidlinger.Original CompositionThe favorite Christmas bell tune is combined with original music to create this fantasy. Lots of techniques and quick ringing will make this fun and challenging for ringers. Major and minor tonalities change hands throughout the work. It is a quick 152 measures long!Although this tune is often associated with Christmas, the original folk story related in the song was associated with the coming New Year, which, in pre-Christian Ukraine, was celebrated with the coming of spring in April. The original Ukrainian title translates to the generous one and tells a tale of a swallow flying into a household to proclaim the bountiful year that the family will have.
