Composed by Aaron Robinson. 20th Century,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Score. 34 pages. Music at Immanuel #6213245. Published by Music at Immanuel (A0.876610).

VARIATIONS ON A THEME BY HANDEL for piano by American composer Aaron Robinson, based on a theme by George Frederic Handel: Suite in D Minor (HVW 437) IV: Sarabande. These set of variations not only reflect the style, nuance and voice of the composer; overall, they reference, and even borrow at times the unique characteristics found within the standard literature of such composers as Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Schumann, Liszt, Kabalevsky, Ives, Copland, etc. All the while displaying a quality of humorous air throughout the demanding pianistic virtuosity.

Composed by Elizabeth Raum. Chamber,Contemporary. 36 pages. Gordon Cherry #804638. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.1206435).

Below are the program notes for Illusion for Trumpet, Bass Trombone & Piano by Elizabeth Raum.

Illusion, is a general commentary to the fact that life is mysterious and generally, uncertain, constantly shifting. We try to influence what happens but usually, outside forces determine the direction of our lives. Sometimes it’s hard to distinguish between illusion and reality, and, in fact, often people much prefer illusion to reality.

Mv. 1 - Illusion starts out with an obscure time signature and is constantly shifting tonalities so for a while, you aren’t quite sure where you are. Life is full of such deceptions.

Mv. 2 - Fill the Wine Cup is a series of drinking songs with a lot of gayety and rollocking humour as the party gets more raucous, but eventually things get a little blurry and bombastic and the party winds down. The trombone, due to its ability to imitate drunken reeling with glissandos, is often cast in this role.

M. 3 - Destiny seems to march on and on, with mankind hoping to control their future, but the implication is that fate is more powerful than one can control.

M. 4 - The ultimate illusion: a Political Debate. The trombone starts out as the first candidate, and the saxophone is the other. The music is circus-like as befits many heated debates.

Illusion was commissioned by Lucas Kaspar and JD Little. The original version was written for Alto Sax and Bass Trombone

The work of about 10 minutes in length is appropriate for advanced performers and may also be performed on a Trombone with an f-attachment.

This work can be performed on a Trombone with an f-attachment and is appropriate for advanced performers.

Composed by Frederic Chopin. Arranged by Raymond Fenech. Christmas,Classical,Easter,Holiday,Standards. Score. 2 pages. Raymond Fenech #4625559. Published by Raymond Fenech (A0.760547).

Waltz in A minor, often designated as No. 19, is a waltz for solo piano composed by Frédéric Chopin. The waltz was written sometime between 1843 and 1848, but was not published until 1860, after the composer's death. The piece shows great sadness, while enclosing some episodes that hint at happiness and hope. The first theme of the piece uses a simple but effective melody, conveying a sad portrait, with decorative ornaments used throughout. The second theme is more interesting and lively, although it still has a certain sadness. About halfway through the piece, there is a modulation into A major, featuring a happy and joyful melody. The piece concludes with the main theme, followed by a short coda.

The Level is Intermediate/Advanced Intermediate and the duration is approximately 2.40 minutes. It could be played in any type of recital/concert.

By Keith Terrett. By Giacomo Puccini. Arranged by Keith Terrett. Classical,Opera,Romantic Period. Score and part. 5 pages. Keith Terrett #651276. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.1046936).

An arrangement of one of Puccini’s greatest arias for Eb Alto Saxophone & Piano. Great piece to improve your bell canto style of playing. Take a listen to Conrad Gozzo’s playing on the Tutti Trumpet CD for a fine example! Quando me'n vo', also known as Musetta's Waltz, is a soprano aria, a waltz in act two of Puccini's 1896 opera La bohème. It is sung by Musetta, in the presence of her bohemian friends, hoping to reclaim the attention of her occasional boyfriend Marcello. This scene takes place at the Café Momus [fr]. Shortly after Mimì, Rodolfo, and their friends have taken seats for a drink, Marcello's former girlfriend, Musetta, shows up with her current patron, the elderly Alcindoro. They quarrel for a bit, then the episode begins as Musetta initiates her move on Marcello. She grabs the spotlight, musically speaking, for a short self-promoting aria (Quando me'n vo'). It is a song directed at the people in the café as much as at the audience in the theater. Popular renditions of the melody were produced during the 1950s, including an American Top 40 hit by Sammy Kaye (You) and a version by Della Reese (Don't You Know?), which reached number two on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. You will find more Italian arias and Neapolitan songs in my Sibelius & ArrangeMe stores.
