Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.650930 Composed by Maurice Ravel. Arranged by Ray Thompson. 20th Century,Baroque. 22 pages. RayThompsonMusic #260018. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.650930). Le Tombeau de Couperin is a suite for solo piano by Maurice Ravel, composed between 1914 and 1917. The piece is in six movements, based on those of a traditional Baroque suite. Each movement is dedicated to the memory of a friend of the composer (or in one case, two brothers) who had died fighting in World War I. Ravel also produced an orchestral version of the work in 1919, although this omitted two of the original movements. The word tombeau in the title is a musical term popular from the 17th century, meaning a piece written as a memorial. The specific Couperin, among a family noted as musicians for about two centuries, that Ravel intended to evoke is thought to be François Couperin the Great (1668–1733). Ravel stated that his intention was to pay homage more generally to the sensibilities of the Baroque French keyboard suite, not necessarily to imitate or pay tribute to Couperin himself in particular. This is reflected in the piece's structure, which imitates a Baroque dance suite.Arranged Double wind quintet/Bass 2nd Oboe has some bars of Cor Anglais .!st Clarinet in Bb has a section for Clarinet in A. This is my arrangement of No.IV Rigaudon in the orchestral suite for wind dectet.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1324534 Composed by Cecile Chaminade. Arranged by Music for a While. 20th Century,Romantic Period. Score. 3 pages. Music for a While #912733. Published by Music for a While (A0.1324534). CeÌcile Chaminade (1857-1944) was born in Paris and began studying piano at an early age with her mother, she later studied violin and composition privately and became hugely popular in France, the UK and USA. She was the first female composer to receive the LeÌgion d’Honneur and often performed for Queen Victoria at Windsor Castle. Her US debut was with the Philadelphia Orchestra in 1908 where she performed her own Concertstück op. 40 for piano and orchestra. Despite the fact that most of her 400+ works were published during her lifetime her music fell into obscurity after her death; though in recent years there has been much renewed interest.Rigaudon was first published by Enoch & Cie, Paris in a collection of twelve short pieces called Album des Enfants vol. 2, op. 126 and many of the works in both volumes 1 and 2 are on the syllabuses of the major music examination boards.
