Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1126715 Composed by Sir Arthur Seymour Sullivan and Sir William S. Gilbert. Arranged by Scott S. Stewart. 19th Century,Children,Opera,Pop,Standards. 18 pages. Scott S. Stewart #727363. Published by Scott S. Stewart (A0.1126715). W. S. Gilbert’s poem “I have a song to sing, O†set to music by Arthur Sullivan in ‘The Yeoman of the Guard’ or, The Merryman and His Maid’ (1888) is an example of a ‘cumulative’ song – where each verse gets progressively longer. It originally appears as a duet in the G&S opera, and gained popularity outside that world with Peter, Paul and Mary’s rendition, as recorded on their 1969 album “Peter, Paul and Mommy.†– introducing the world of G&S to a completely new audience. This arrangement is for 4-part SATB ensemble with piano accompaniment. It is an excellent introduction to the music of Gilbert & Sullivan, a teachable moment about form, and a perfect sing-a-long tune to include on any family oriented, community outreach program. Performance time: 3:35+-.

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1324224 Composed by John W. Fisher. A Cappella,Christian,Instructional,Praise & Worship,Spiritual. 3 pages. John Fisher #912420. Published by John Fisher (A0.1324224). WHAT HAPPENED ON THAT MOUNTAIN is a sermon song based on the sermon With Jesus on the Mountain delivered by Dr. Paul de Jong on November 12, 2023 at the First Presbyterian Church, Fort Myers, Florida using the text of Mark 8:31-9:29.  The tune is an SATB arrangement of the famous Christmas spiritual Go Tell it on the Mountain with original lyrics to teach about a very important event in the New Testament - Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguragtion.  The Chorus departs from the rhythm of the original spiritual when the name of Jesus is sung, emphasizing that He is on a different plane than Moses and Elijah. This and the second verse emphasize how Peter, as he often was, was in error of considering building temporal booths to celebrate the three transfigured beings.  What the voice from heaven says and what Jesus says are extremely important.  This may not overtake the popularity of the original Christmas spiritual, but I would hope that some congregations would consider using it as a teaching hymn.

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.890619 Composed by English Folk Song. Arranged by Stan Swim. Praise & Worship,Sacred. Score. 4 pages. Stanford Swim #5954761. Published by Stanford Swim (A0.890619). This arrangement tracks closely the text penned by William Clayton, describing the longing of the pioneers for their new gathering place, their determination to press on even if some would not make it, and the triumph of arrival.  Syncopations from the hymn treatment have been straightened, allowing for a more flowing and driving treatment of the melody.  The center of the arrangement is the transition from acknowledging the reality of death to exuberantly anticipating reunion with departed loved ones.

However, the first version was a song with piano accompaniment. Saint-Saëns himself later made two versions for violin and piano and for two pianos. Further transcriptions were added by other composers, e.g. for solo piano and organ etc. Giuseppe Gariboldi wrote a Fantaisie-Transcription for the flute. The composition is based on the poem by Henri Cazalis. In the 19th century, piano songs with dance of death stories had a special significance. (e.g. F. Schubert: The Death and the Maiden)According to legend, Death appears at midnight every year on Halloween. He calls forth the dead from their graves to dance for him. The skeletons dance for him until the cockerel crows at dawn, then they must return to their graves until the next year.
