Soprano voice and piano - Medium - Digital Download SKU: MQ.8609D-2E Composed by Tom Cipullo. 21st Century. Secular. 5 pages. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #8609D-2E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.8609D-2E). Although these arias are sung by the character Alyce, in the production they represent the younger and older versions of herself and are played by two different singers. Young Alyce sings My Darling Jim, writing a letter to her husband prior to his being taken prisoner during the Vietnam War. The first aria captures emotions through a brief snapshot of everyday life. The second takes place after his return from captivity. Alyce has moved on with her life with another man. The aria is painful and moving as she suggests that, while he can see the kids, he certainly doesn't have to see her face ever again.Contents:1. My Darling Jim2. After You Hear Me Out.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quartet Flute - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.783052 Composed by P. I. Tchaikovsky. Arranged by Diego Marani. Classical,Contest,Festival,Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards. 17 pages. Diego Marani #390415. Published by Diego Marani (A0.783052). Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings in C Major was written with an ear towards one of his idols, a certain 18th century composer by the name of Mozart. The title and structure of the piece are taken from the serenades of the latter, though this is certainly Tchaikovsky's own particularly 19th century rendering of these older ideas. That it is a masterful work, is demonstrated by the fact that it still remains among the most performed and appreciated by the public alongside the serenades by Antonín Dvořák and Josef Suk. The third movement, entitled “Elegyâ€, is certainly the kind of direct, emotional and extremely lyrical writing for which Tchaikovsky is known. The harmony is robust and evocative, always the perfect underpinning for the melancholic melodies heard above. This arrangement for flute quartet (Flute1, Flute 2, Flute 3, Flute 4 or Alto Flute) reflects faithfully the original and is suitable for classroom, repertoire and recital.

Glockenspiel,Marimba,Vibraphone - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1168353 Composed by Mudiwa Williams. Chamber,Children,Classical. 7 pages. Mudiwa Music #768684. Published by Mudiwa Music (A0.1168353). EMAIL ME FOR PARTS: mudiwamusic@gmail.comThis piece also started as an assignment, but for my percussion methods class, rather than for my composition lessons. Our final was to play each other pieces with our knowledge we gained throughout the semester. As a composer, I wanted to consider the fact that everyone was going to be sightreading, so I wanted it to be as accessible as possible. This is an easy piece you give to a new group of middle school percussion students. The 2 students on the marimba share melodic ideas, and keep the tempo steady. The bells and vibraphone have a cute conversation throughout the piece, and it wraps up nicely with a ritardando, showing that the sun has finally set. I was inspired by watching the sunset as I drove through the mountains on my way back to Alamosa from Denver. The sky was a beautiful mix of purple, orange, and pink, while the sky was dark enough to make the trees look black against the bright white snow. Colorado is so gorgeous.

Handbell - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1308228 Composed by Antonio Vivaldi. Arranged by Cheryl (Sutton) Baker - Bronze:FX. Baroque,Chamber,Classical,Wedding. Score. 6 pages. Bronze:FX #897457. Published by Bronze:FX (A0.1308228). This delightful arrangement of the first movement of The Spring is perfect for any energetic moment, regardless of season.  Its charm comes from its quick tempo and dynamic contrasts, complete with the sounds of the spring season (perhaps add a bird whistle, rainstick, props, poem, or a nature slide show). The arrangement is for 4, 5, or 6 ringers using two or three octaves of handbells (or handchimes).  Complete assignments and performance notes are enclosed, and the piece is Level 3 when played with six ringers.  This piece may also be performed by four- or six-in-hand ensembles without tables. The piece is in rondeau form, which means that it has a recurring theme (similar to a refrain) and verses that extremely differ from one another.  Rondeau form is usually explained by letters, where A equals the recurring theme, and each other letter like B or C indicate completely differing verses.  The form then looks like this: ABACADAE etcetera. Because of its consistency, both audience and performers alike will look forward to the next time that the A theme appears. Performance time:• 3 minutes.

Piano,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1315952 Composed by Pietro Mascagni. Arranged by Rob Bushnell. Classical,Easter,Film/TV,Opera,Romantic Period. 8 pages. RBMusic #904730. Published by RBMusic (A0.1315952). In 1889, a struggling composer called Pietro Mascagni heard about a sponsored competition for one-act operas, specifically for young Italian composers who had not yet had an opera performed, only two months before the deadline. With little time, he selected the subject for his opera and asked his childhood friend, Giovanni Targioni-Tozzetti (who was helped by Guido Menasci), to write a libretto for him. Mascagni selected a story that he had seen as a play in Milan in early 1884 by realist writer Giovanni Verga, “Rustic Chivalryâ€, or Cavalleria rusticana. A passionate love tragedy featuring seduction, adultery, revenge and murder, it is surprising set on Easter morning.Mascagni received only a few verses at a time from his librettists, but he was not worried because he had the opera clear in his mind: “I identified with the drama to such an extent that I felt it within myself in terms of music.†After two months’ of work, the music for Cavalleria rusticana was finished but he feared the opera would fail and put the music in a draw. Fortunately, his wife sent it off, he unanimously won the competition and was soon the talk of Europe. (At the premiere in May 1890 in Rome, Mascagni received no fewer than 60 curtain calls.) Unfortunately, it was a one-hit wonder with Mascagni unable to repeat its success, saying towards the end of his life that “it is a pity I wrote Cavalleria first for I was crowned before I became king.†He died, penniless, in 1945.Today, few people have heard of Mascagni’s name, and, if they have, it is rarely in relation to anything but one piece from Cavalleria rusticana, the Intermezzo. A short piece of purely orchestral music that is uses to denote the passage of time, the orchestration is very simple but it is such an indulgently beautiful melody (based on a hymn heard earlier in the short opera) that perfectly captures the peace of country living in Sicily against the intense feelings of the main characters and the looming tragedy to come. The piece is so popular that (along with the “Easter Hymn†from the same opera), it is the only reason Mascagni features in the Classic FM’s Hall of Fame. The piece was used in the 1980 film Raging Bull and the 1990 film The Godfather Part III.A recording of the original song can be found on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kgr-I1y1_2M.Other searchable terms: Italy, Martin Scorsese, Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, Cathy Moriarty, Nicholas Colasanto, Theresa Saldana, Frank Vincent, Al Pacino, Diane Keaton, Talia Shire, Andy García, Eli Wallach, Joe Mantegna, Bridget Fonda, George Hamilton, Sofia Coppola.
