Saxophone Trio,Woodwind Ensemble Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Soprano Saxophone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1342330 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Chamber,Christian,Christmas,Holiday,Traditional. 3 pages. Jmsgu3 #927846. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1342330). Greensleeves is a traditional English folk song that has several interesting facts associated with it:Origin: The song's origin is uncertain, and there is no consensus on who composed it. It has been attributed to Henry VIII, the King of England, but this association is considered erroneous, and the song is more likely to be Elizabethan in origin.Christmas Carol: The tune of Greensleeves is used for the classic Christmas carol What Child Is This?Lyrics: The song's lyrics are about a painful romantic problem and include what some historians view as subtly salacious content. The lyrics deal with a spurned lover accusing Lady Greensleeves of casting him off discourteously despite his love for her. The song's scandalous twist is hidden in its title, and its exact meaning has been debated for centuries.Cultural References: The tune was used as the slow march of the London Trained Bands in the 16th and 17th centuries. It was adopted as the quick march of the 7th (City of London) Battalion London Regiment during World War I. Additionally, the tune has been referenced in literature, such as in Shakespeare's The Merry Wives of Windsor.Popularity: In some parts of the world, the Greensleeves tune is famous as a standard chime for ice cream vans. These facts make Greensleeves a fascinating and culturally significant piece of music with a rich history and diverse interpretations.

Concert Band - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1213587 Composed by Juan Guerra González. Classical. 64 pages. Juan Carlos Guerra Gonzalez #810780. Published by Juan Carlos Guerra Gonzalez (A0.1213587). “Ritual†(Rite) was kindly commissioned by Costarican Conductor and Composer Eddie Mora to be premiered by an ensemble from the “Banda de Conciertos de San José†in Costa Rica. The piece evokes a rite in the Pipil tradition in El Salvador, in which our ancestors presented offerings to the god of the water and rain (“Tlaloc.â€) The music starts with the trombone resembling a caracol doing a greeting to the 4 cardinal points. The main rhythmic idea combines different traditional rhythms from El Salvador (as investigated by Aracely Sánchez). For the melodic material, I wrote a theme that evokes the sound of the “pito flautaâ€, a traditional “flute†used in El Salvador. In the Ritual offered to Tlaloc, our ancestors asked for a good harvesting season and that Tlaloc grant them rain and enough water for the year. The central section of the piece starts with a glissando from the Vibraphone and represents the idea of water and rain. The piece finishes with a new exposition of the dance-like section presented in the beginning adding more elements at a slightly faster speed.

Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1490206 By Cascia Talbert. By Franz Schubert. Arranged by Cascia Talbert. Christian,Classical,Praise & Worship,Religious,Spiritual. Score. 7 pages. Cascia Talbert #1067042. Published by Cascia Talbert (A0.1490206). Ellens dritter Gesang (Ellen's Song III, D. 839, Op. 52, No. 6, 1825), known in English as Ellen's Third Song, was composed by Franz Schubert in 1825. It is part of his Op. 52, a collection of seven songs inspired by Walter Scott's 1810 narrative poem The Lady of the Lake, which was loosely translated into German. This piece is among Schubert's most beloved works. Although it was originally composed as a song, it is frequently performed and recorded under the title Ave Maria. This title references the Latin name of the prayer Hail Mary, which is also the opening phrase and refrain of Ellen's song—a prayer to the Virgin Mary. Performances often feature simplified musical arrangements and various lyrics that deviate from the original poem. Franz Liszt arranged the piece in three versions for piano.Schubert's composition is based on verse XXIX from Canto Three of Scott's poem, translated into German by Adam Storck (1780–1822). It is part of Schubert's Liederzyklus vom Fräulein vom See. In Scott's narrative, Ellen Douglas, the Lady of the Lake (Loch Katrine in the Scottish Highlands), seeks refuge with her exiled father in the Goblin's Cave, avoiding their previous host, Roderick Dhu, who has chosen to rebel against King James. As Roderick Dhu and his warriors ascend the mountain, he hears Ellen, accompanied by the harpist Allan-bane, singing a prayer to the Virgin Mary, pleading for help. Roderick Dhu pauses momentarily before heading into battle. The song is said to have been first performed at the castle of Countess Sophie Weissenwolff in Steyregg, Austria, and was dedicated to her, earning her the nickname the lady of the lake. The repeated use of Ave Maria in Ellen's song likely inspired the adaptation of Schubert's melody to fit the full text of the traditional Roman Catholic prayer Ave Maria. This adaptation has become so widespread that it often leads to the mistaken belief that Schubert originally composed the melody specifically for the Ave Maria prayer. This arrangement is for low voice and piano.

Clarinet in Bb and piano - easy - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q7306 Composed by Jose Fernandez Diaz. Arranged by Uwe Korn. This edition: Sheet music. Edition Schott - Single Edition. Downloadable. Schott Music - Digital #Q7306. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q7306). Is there anyone who does not know the song 'Guantanamera'? Going back to a melody of the Cuban music style Guajira and a text by the local national hero José Martí, it was used by José Fernández Díaz in the 1930s as a refrain for improvisations on topical daily news. In 1963 Peter Seeger took up Martí's original version at a concert at the New York Carnegie Hall – which then became a 'hymn' of the American Trade Union Movement. Since then the title has been sung in countless versions. The current edition offers the opportunity to play the worldwide hit in front of a 'home audience' – enjoy and have fun!

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1018000 Arranged by Thomas Stearn. 20th Century,Classical,Contemporary,Folk. Score. 4 pages. THOMAS STEARN #6402141. Published by THOMAS STEARN (A0.1018000). Folksongs are traditional songs of the people, that have been culturally ingrained into civilisation. This arrangement of Scarborough Fair, a well-known English folksong, is the first in my Folksong Echoes’ Series, which attempts to re-imagine traditional folksongs in a more fragmented, but still beautiful way. I use the term ‘fragmented’ because it is essentially the main approach to these arrangements. You will hear glimpses of the tune in the form of melodic motifs, clusters, and sustained resonances, which are beautifully imagined through the sustain pedal of the piano. Overall, these fragments make up ‘echoes’ which allude to the concept of something being there but also not quite being there, a bit like the pieces that make up a jigsaw puzzle.Duration: approximately 3’20’’Composition year: 2021

Tenor voice and piano - Moderately Easy - Digital Download SKU: MQ.8825-1E Composed by Gwyneth W. Walker. African American Heritage. 6 pages. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #8825-1E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.8825-1E). English.I’ve Known Rivers is a multi-movement work, comprised of songs based on four different poems by Langston Hughes (1902–1967). Though he lived much of his life in the Harlem neighborhood of New York City, Hughes was born in Missouri and raised in Kansas, Illinois, and Ohio. At age seventeen, he traveled to Mexico to live with his estranged father. As he crossed the Mississippi River, he was inspired to write The Negro Speaks of Rivers, which begins “I’ve known rivers….,†and is the text for the first movement, “My Soul Has Grown Deep.†It reflects upon rivers of historic and geographical importance—the Euphrates, Congo, Nile, and Mississippi. As the rivers have endured over time, so has the human soul. The waters—the blood—runs deep.In contrast to the universal message of the first song, “Troubled Water,†which uses the poetry of the same title, is contemporary and personal. Water becomes an image of the unsettled and uncertain nature of love. The journey of love is a journey of troubled water. There is no resolution.Undaunted by the elusive nature of love, the poet, heard via the chorus, turns flippant, displaying a persevering and humorous outlook in “Jump Right In!†(to the river) from Hughes’ poem Life is Fine. Romantic misadventures will not conquer the spirit. “I could’ve died for love, but for livin’ I was born.â€â€œIn time of silver rain,†once more using the poem of the same title, is a song of healing. With the regeneration of spring, the poet marvels at the wonder of life.Though intended to be performed as the complete multi-movement work I’ve Known Rivers, each song may be performed separately. (c) 2020 Schott Music GmbH & Co. KG, Mainz. Classical. Downloadable. Op. 73. 9 pages. Schott Music - Digital #Q53272. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q53272). German • Danish.Iwan Müller, clarinettist, composer and reformer of the clarinet, was born to German parents in Reval (Russia). One of his first jobs was in St. Petersburg. In 1809 he went to Paris where he worked as an instrument maker, amongst other things. In 1812 he presented his new clarinet with 13 round keys, the ‘clarinette omnitonique‘, which could be played in all keys, to a panel. Although the initial evaluation was negative, the innovation was implemented in the coming years. In 1820 Müller returned to Russia and then to Germany (Kassel, Berlin). He performed concerts in various countries and finally became a court musician in Bückeburg. Iwan Müller’s skill as a composer is revealed in both the melody and harmony of Le rêve (The Dream). The piece was published in 1845 (plate number 7855).
