Shades of Paisano is a transcription, by the composer, of four movements from Paisano Suite, an eight-movement work for orchestra.

Paisano is the name of a ranch, located in the central Texas hill country west of Austin,once the private retreat of Texas folklorist and writer J. Frank Dobie. Now owned by the University of Texas, the ranch has for many years been used as a residence for recipients of the prized Dobie Paisano Fellowship, awardedtwice annually to promising Texas writers.
Paisano Suite, originally scored for a small pit orchestra, was composed there in the fall of 1982 on a grant from the City of Austin for the Austin Ballet Theatre. The resulting ballet was produced in February, 1983 under the title Ballabile, with choreography by ABT artistic director Stanley Hall. The music was revised and re-orchestrated as a concert suite for full
orchestra in 2012 and renamed after the ranch where it was written. Four movements were chosen for this concert band transcription. 1. Scherzo  2. Fugue  3. Romanza   4. Finale

Back in Ancient Egypt, Mimi always turned heads with her blonde hair and fashion sense. She made her fortune in a pyramid selling scheme and acquired Joseph’s Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat at a charity auction. When she choked on a locust her friends tore up the coat and used it in the mummification process instead of the usual white bandages. So three thousand years later Mimi still dresses in style. 

Mimi the Multicoloured Mummy is suitable for players at an intermediate level and above, with the accessible keys and range balanced by some fast passages. With a playing-time of around four minutes, Mimi the Multicoloured Mummy is a perfect upbeat addition to any performance program, formal or informal. Johann Sebastian Bach is widely considered one of the greatest composers of all time. He was born in Eisenach, Thuringia, Germany in 1685 and is best known for his mastery of the Baroque era of musical composition. One of Bach's most beloved works is the set of French Suites, which he composed in the years between 1722 and 1725. These suites consist of six movements, usually in the forms of allemandes, courantes, sarabandes, gigues, and minuets, which Bach filled with intricate ornamentation.

The French Suites were highly influential to later composers, particularly those of the Classical and Romantic periods. Bach's inventiveness in the suites marked a new level of finesse and virtuosity in composition. He also demonstrated his ability to work with preexisting forms and conventions to create a unified and well-crafted whole. The French Suites continue to be performed around the world today, and they remain some of the best-known and most appreciated works.

Tim now orchestrates and conducts, working with orchestras including Manchester Camerata, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, RTÉ Concert Orchestra and the Philharmonia.

Larry Schacher is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, arranger and composer. Larry is fluent on piano, sax, clarinet, flute, guitar and bass. While in college, Larry also learned the violin, viola, trumpet, trombone, bassoon, banjo,drums and percussion.
Larry taught public school music, and gifted classes in music for high schoolers at Eastern Oregon University, and Montana State; Larry also taught adult classical and folk guitar classes at Mt. Hood Community College.
Larry also developed a rock and roll boot camp for middle schoolers that ran for several years during spring breaks at the Overlake School in Redmond, Wa. Larry was commissioned to to write the Overlake School anthem.
Larry’s students have earned scholarships to the Berkeley School of music; attended the Thornton School of music; New York University and many others.
Larry is a recording studio musician and besides the 5 albums he has published on CDbaby, he has appeared on many other albums, produced jingles for commercials that received air play in the Seattle market, and was the pianist for a syndicated gospel TV show.
Larry has performed from Hawaii to New York city.
One of Larry’s fondest memories is writing and conducting an arrangement of our national anthem that was sung by Seattle Opera at a Sonics/Sun basketball game.

Mouret’s Rondeau, written in the 1600s, was brought used for several years as the theme music for PBS “Masterpiece Theatre.” It is an upbeat and inspiring tune that works well as a processional or recessional for any occasion. This arrangement for piano is in the key of Bb major, and is easily accessible for any advanced level pianist.
