I was asked to sing a solo in church when I was 9 or 10 years old, and boy was I prepared to do it. I had practiced it until it was perfect. I walked right up to that pulpit at church, nodded to my accompanist to start playing, and then I looked out at the audience. That's when I lost it. There must have been 1000 people there. I promptly forgot all of the words and started looking around for my Mom. Ah, there she was. Noticing the abject look of terror on my face she smiled at me and started mouthing the words to me. My knees trembling, my whole body shaking, I sang every word that she mouthed to me. By the time I sat down I had decided that I was never going to sing again. However, on the way back to my mother, so many people told me that I did a good job that I decided maybe I would sing again. I believe in myself. I also believe that God is my Father and that Jesus Christ , who is my elder brother, is the Savior of the world.

Amazing Grace is an short arrangement for piano of the traditional hymn, made by the composer when he was about 10 years old. It is his first arrangement.
Two versions are presented in this edition: the original 1980 arrangement, which presents only one verse, and an expanded arrangement, made in 2021. The original arrangement has an ornamented melody hovering over a flowing left-hand accompaniment. The 2021 expansion offers varying textures that creates a more satisfying journey.

The Danish flautist and composer Andersen was one of the founder members of the Berlin Philharmonic, and for 10 years was the orchestra's 1st flute. He toured extensively (including Russia and America) and shared a platform with artists like Hans von Bülow and Joseph Joachim. In addition to his performing career he also wrote studies for flute, instructive as well as musically attractive, which have become part of the standard works used in teaching. Further pieces by Andersen for flute and piano have been published by Schott in The Andersen Collection (EA 748).

I began to compose this piece unpretentiously with the intention of doing a prelude of 3 minutes. The beginning of the play, however, presents itself childish and naïve, as a child walking in a indolent way and ended up reminding me of video game or cartoon songs and a period of childhood between 8 and 10 years. I then structured the piece to show some pleasures of childhood: walking, running, flying, playing, swimming and dancing. For those who enjoy analyzing musical structures a short summary follows: The piece begins with the exposition of a rhythmic theme in B flat minor, followed by a small melodic theme constructed through the same motif presented at the beginning of the piece, but in D flat major. The piece then moves towards a moment of transition, a bridge between B flat minor and B minor. This transition is not only modulation, it is a transformation of the rhythmic aura to a melodic (B minor) episode . This episode is presented as a song A, B, with small variations. After the melodic episode, another moment of transition begins to return to the tonic (B flat minor) for reexposition of the rhythmic theme, but with another outfit. The piece then ends with a delicious codetta full of tenderness.
