Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet - Level 3 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.814532

Composed by Franz Xaver Gruber. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Christmas,Instructional,Multicultural,World. Score and parts. 12 pages. Regis Bookshar #6636621. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.814532).

Brass Octet - Intermediate - Digital Download. This arrangement of Silent Night, or in German, Stille Nacht, would be a wonderful addition to any music library and could be performed for Christmas concerts, recitals, and, especially, church services. It is equally suitable for junior and senior high school students and even older musicians. Depending on their ability, younger musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (12 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time.

Silent Night is probably the most popular Christmas carol ever written. It was composed in 1818 by Franz Xaver Gruber to lyrics by Joseph Mohr and was first performed on Christmas Eve at St. Nicholas parish church in Oberndorf, a small village in present-day Austria. A young Catholic priest, Father Joseph Mohr, had written the poem, Stille Nacht, in 1816 and had gone to Oberndorf in 1817. The melody was composed by Franz Xaver Gruber, schoolmaster and organist in the nearby village of Arnsdorf. On Christmas Eve, 1818, Mohr brought the words to Gruber and asked him to compose a melody and guitar accompaniment for that night's mass, after river flooding had possibly damaged the church organ. The church was eventually destroyed by repeated flooding and has since been replaced with the Silent-Night-Chapel.

According to Gruber, Karl Mauracher, an organ builder who serviced the instrument at the Oberndorf church, was enamored with the song, and took the composition home with him to the Ziller Valley in Tyrol, Austria. From there, two traveling families of folk singers, the Strassers and the Rainers, included the tune in their shows. The Rainers were already singing it around Christmas, 1819, and once performed it for an audience that included Franz I of Austria and Alexander I of Russia. They also gave the first performance of the song in the United States in New York City in 1839. By the 1840's, the song was well known and was reported to be a favorite of Frederick William IV of Prussia. During this period, the melody changed slightly to become the version that is commonly heard today. The version of the melody that is generally used today is a slow, meditative lullaby, or pastoral, differing slightly from Gruber's original which has a moderate tempo. The song has been translated into about 140 languages and has been recorded by many singers across many music genres. The version sung by Bing Crosby in 1935, has sold over 10 million copies as a single.

In this arrangement of Silent Night, Regis Bookshar has kept the basic form of this familiar Christmas carol, but has also included a descant during the third verse. Also, in addition to this version for a Brass Octet, consisting of 4 Trumpets, 2 French Horns and 2 Trombones, there are other arrangements of Silent Night available for a variety of instrumental ensembles. There are Quintets and Octets readily available for purchase. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may find something else that might also suit your needs.

I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar, as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a wide variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are being added as often as possible. I'm certain that this wonderful arrangement of Silent Night will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come.

Back in Ancient Egypt, Mimi always turned heads with her blonde hair and fashion sense. She made her fortune in a pyramid selling scheme and acquired Joseph’s Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat at a charity auction. When she choked on a locust her friends tore up the coat and used it in the mummification process instead of the usual white bandages. So three thousand years later Mimi still dresses in style.

With a playing-time of around four minutes, Mimi the Multicoloured Mummy is a perfect upbeat addition to any performance program, formal or informal. SKU: A0.752458

By Various. By Hildur Gudnadottir. Arranged by Rob Bushnell. Contemporary,Film/TV,Folk,Religious,Sacred. 17 pages. RBMusic #6506025. Published by RBMusic (A0.752458).

In 1982, the Vladimir Ilyich Lenin Nuclear Power Plant started a series of tests to simulate an electrical power outage to help create procedures for maintaining the circulation of the reactor coolant for the 60-75 seconds needed until the back-up generators got to full power. This was key to ensure that the coolant pumps did not stop working; otherwise, it could lead to the core overheating or, worse, the core melting down. The first test was unsuccessful, and, after some modifications, the test was repeated in 1984 and 1985.

On 25 April 1986, a fourth test was scheduled to take place at 1415hrs during a controlled power-down of one of the reactors. However, at 1400hrs, another regional power station went offline, causing the test to be delayed by 10-hours. With the well-prepared day and evening crews’ shifts over, the test was left to the unprepared night crew. Unbeknownst to them, safety systems and protocols had been disabled or ignored earlier in the day, power-output issues had left the reactor in an unstable condition and there were basic design flaws with the reactor when it was constructed. All of this led to an uncontrolled chain reaction and, at some point around 01:23:45 in the morning of 26 April 1986, explosions and a fire destroyed a reactor building of reactor number 4 at Chernobyl. Radioactive contamination was released into the surrounding areas, 100,000s of people were evacuated, a 30-kilometre exclusion zone was put in place and whilst, officially, only 31 people died from this disaster, it has been estimated that between 4,000 and 16,000 fatalities are related to the events of that day. The area is likely to be unsafe for the next 20,000 years.

The soundtrack to the TV mini-series Chernobyl is by the Icelandic composer, Hildur Guðnadóttir. The music is made, almost entirely, from sounds that she recorded at a decommissioned Nuclear power plant in Lithuania, giving it a very raw quality. She says the show itself portrays the disaster with respect and realism, and I was adamant the score reflects this. I wanted to show the viewer how it would feel to be there, and to tell this story of fear, loss and, ultimately, human error.

Vichnaya Pamyat translated to Memory Eternal in Ukrainian, but a better English equivalent would be Rest in Peace. It is a hymn used during Ukrainian Orthodox Christian church funerals and memorial services.  Guðnadóttir’s arrangement is heard at the end of the final episode of the series.

This arrangement is not in the original key and has been transposed to make it easier to play. A version in the original key is available, item number H0.1099667-SC004126925. The arrangement also includes alternative parts for tenor horn, treble-clef trombone/euphonium and tuba. A recording of the music from the original soundtrack can be found on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Poc3MF8GFk.

Composed by Mike Lyons. Concert,Contemporary. Score and parts. 22 pages. Lyons Music Services #4265183. Published by Lyons Music Services (A0.767447).

This is an original flute trio, arranged for Horns in F. The music is entirely derived from the opening motif, which occurred to me on the date of my civil partnership anniversary (11 years).

It's a simple ditty, but I wanted to try to test the strengths of the players. The parts all cover a wide range, and the players need to be able to sustain the rhythmic pulse in 6/8.

Although the tempo is marked <dotted q>=110, it can be played up to 10 BPM faster or slower, depending on the skill of the ensemble.

This would make a great addition to a recital programme or a spring or summer concert.

Have you ever been frustrated by trying to play Bach’s Prelude in C (from the well tempered clavier) on the guitar? As he wrote it for keyboard, it’s not surprising that it doesn’t quite work, I suppose. Well, after many years of wanting to play it on my guitar, I have realised that unless I learn to play the lute or get a 10 string guitar, it’s not going to happen. The keyboard version is so beautiful that it doesn’t need any alteration, but I have always felt that it should work on guitar, somehow or other.

After teaching for over 25 years I can tell you this- Violinists are never too young or too inexperienced to play with style and expression! The Espressione Primer etudes are to educate and encourage students to do just that!  They feel proud and eager to practice when they like what they hear from their own playing! No's 1 through 5 are on strings E and A only; 6-10 on D and G; 11-14 add the use of the fourth finger; 15-20 use the low 1 and low 2 fingerings. Basic dynamic and articulation markings are used and definitions are given for expression terms!
Thank you in advance for your purchase and Best Wishes!

By Dusty Springfield. By John Hurley and Ronnie Wilkins. Arranged by Will Corbin. Country,Pop. 22 pages. Will Corbin #1042016. Published by Will Corbin (A0.1463325).

Dusty Springfield recorded this tune -- written by John Hurley and Ronnie Wilkins with Aretha Franklin in mind (she would also record it later) -- in 1968. It reached No. 10 on the Billboard chart (and she wouldn't chart another tune for 19 years). The song was used in 1995 in the soundtrack of Pulp Fiction and rereleased as a single, which reached No. 1 in -- wait for it -- Iceland. This arrangement loosely tracks her version of the song.

The St. Luke's church choir performed an anthem I wrote, inspired by a poem from a choir friend. She gave the poem to me in November. Though I started working on the music then, life got busy and it was sitting there on my desktop waiting to be finished. Around March I felt the need to get it done - little did I know it would provide such comfort and direction as I watched my brother pass. I was able to Listen for the voice of God and the message was that I had a remarkable person in my life for 55 years. How grateful I am for every bit of that.â¤ï¸.
