WHAT IS THE LIMITED OR FULL BAND SERIES FROM C.DURIGG MUSIC?

Do you have intermediate or advanced performers in a very small band program? Are your performers ready for more intermediate or advanced band repertoire, yet the band’s limited instrumentation holds them back?

My Limited or Full series is geared toward the success of small bands with limited instrumentation. These pieces aim at giving small bands more advanced music within the framework of a young band arrangement. If you like the music, these pieces also sound great with a larger full instrumentation.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
Lo, How A Rose E’er Blooming (originally known as Es ist din Ros entsprungen) is a German Christmas Carol and Marian hymn in mixed meter. First sung in the 15th Century and first published int he 16th Century, this hymn is still popular in the 21st Century. In multiple different contexts, the hymn compares the beauty of Christmas to that of a lovely rose. The most common harmonization to this melody was composted by Michael Praetorius in 1609, and the original part-writing contains elements of the Renaissance madrigal. Although this band arrangement is rescored with different part-writing, it pays some homage to the musical traditions employed in the original carol. This theme and variations is a mixture of four different scoring methods: modern Christmas Carol; gently-applied lyrical contemporary; Renaissance imitation; and a bombastic, Romantic orchestral finish. This piece features multiple subtle musical sensibilities and a gentle introduction into the world of mixed meter. I sincerely hope you enjoy this arrangement!

Lorem ipsum
is an anonymous text that since the 15th century has been used by typographers to show the size and make of typefaces. The text distorts the original font found in Cicero’s De Finibus Bonorum et Malorum (1.10.32-33). There are various versions of the text, some comic, others absurd or even devoid of verbal sense. In that sense it is used here so as not to disturb the musical entertainment. It functions, therefore, as vocables without any message other than the purely musical.

The complex {4 [2, 2], 3 [2, 1]}, taken from the dedicatory’s name, organizes the whole work.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 1 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.886424

Composed by 15th-century German carol. Arranged by Frederic Bacon-Shone. Christian,Christmas,Sacred. Octavo. 4 pages. Heather Bacon-Shone #2329273. Published by Heather Bacon-Shone (A0.886424).

This lilting Christmas song, based on a 15th-century German carol, is arranged in call-and-response style for solo voice and harmonized SATB choir, with organ (or piano) accompaniment. The solo voice part is pitched at mid-range and could be sung by soprano, alto, tenor, or bass. For variety, the solo voice part could also be doubled or performed solo by instruments such as violin, clarinet, flute, etc. Alternatively, the solo part could be sung by the congregation in unison, with the church choir providing the responses in harmony. The carol and accompaniment are easy and accessible for any choir. With the words for 8 verses included, this carol works well when a song of variable length is needed, such as for communion, a processional, or congregational candle-lighting. Liturgical use: Christmas, Advent.

Choral Choir (SAB) - Level 2 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.719785

Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Curtis Hanson. Christian,Christmas,Sacred. Octavo. 12 pages. Curtis Hanson #6572763. Published by Curtis Hanson (A0.719785).

This setting of the traditional 15th century French carol is derived from the arranger's SATB settings but here with keyboard accompaniment and C instrument plus two optional handbells. The first three verses are simplified to mostly unison or in canon on the 3rd verse. An instrumental interlude features the C instrument and accompaniment in more expansive and contemporary treatment. In the final verse the choral writing and harmonies create a more contemporary feel to this 15th century classic. It then closes with the hollow open fifth harmony from the beginning of the piece.
