It would be nominated for an Oscar for best original song, which subsequent history would indicate it should have won. The honor went to It Goes Like It Goes from the soundtrack of Norma Rae, which hasn't been heard since. The Rainbow Connection, meanwhile, has been covered by just about every singer and group in the universe, just short of the metal rockers. This arrangement is a challenge, although the parts are not technically difficult. I've used stairstep constructions throughout, so a quintet has to be tight and precise to maintain a steady tempo. Now, really. Who writes for THAT combination?!  Since I am also a composer (who often finds herself writing for similarly odd instrumentation), I would simply arrange music for that combination. But not every teacher or student is comfortable with doing that or has the time to. Finally, I am sharing with you all the fruits of my labor. Let friends play with friends! Or maybe a private resort island in Fiji, but that was probably named after the song. And the music video for Kokomo was filmed at the Grand Floridian Hotel at Disney World in inland Central Florida, where the surf is also never quite up.
