A contemporary of the famous Heinrich Schütz, Andreas Hammerschmidt was a prolific composer of both German church and instrumental music in the mid-17th century. Taken from two of his instrumental collections written between 1636-1639, this eclectic Baroque Dance Suite (Paduan, Aria, Galliard, Courente, Mascharada) written in the tradition of English influenced suites from northern and central Germany provides plenty of solo lines for all of the players.
