The piece begins out as a timid, careful melody that slowly creeps around. Then the piece takes a turn into a vibrant and cheerful melody with a constantly moving accompaniment that reflects Whiskers’ energetic and vibrant nature.There are a some points where the melody goes off on a tangent which reflects Whiskers’ sporadic nature but he eventually returns back to his usual self. Halfway through the composition, the piece takes a turn and becomes much more active and tense. The loud dynamics as well as the foreign key reflect what Whiskers the Squirrel is known for, his curiosity to venture into dangerous and unknown places.Luckily however, he returns back to his safe and usual self which is reflected by the return of the original melody that we heard at the beginning. Like ‘Once Upon A Time’, this piece is a foreshadowing of what is to come in the rest of the album.

A Doge (Chief Magistrate or Duke) willing to spend, and spend big, on musical pomp and ceremony. A dearth of wealth and money to fund the grandest celebrations. He was the leading Italian composer and organist in Venice at its greatest heights at the chasm between the end of the Renaissance and the beginning of the Baroque period in music. Presented here is an early Canzona published around 1615 for 6 brass. A variety of substitute parts are also included to handle the trumpet and trombone parts with French horns and tubas. The piece starts with a short song-like melody and rhythm that is then repeated with many variations throughout. A nice early introduction to the Gabrieli instrumental ensemble works, published shortly after his death, for a smaller single ensemble.
