Alto Saxophone Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1024147 Composed by Jennifer Mitchell Griffin. 20th Century,Contemporary. Individual part. 10 pages. Jennifer L Griffin #1777315. Published by Jennifer L Griffin (A0.1024147). You Surpass Them All - Proverbs 31:29 (Performed at the 2016 NASA Conference) for Alto Saxophone I. Elizabeth II. Hannah III. Jael Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all. – Proverbs 31:29 You Surpass Them All is a brief glimpse into the lives of three extraordinary lesser- known women of the Bible. Each movement portrays a life changing and important time in each woman’s life. Elizabeth portrays her first meeting of pregnant Mary carrying Jesus, Hannah expresses her prayer to the Lord to have a child, and Jael portrays her victory over Sisera, the leader of the army of Canaan, an oppressor of Israel. In each of the women’s circumstances, she had a choice to act negatively but chose to respond positively. Elizabeth could have shunned Mary for being pregnant out of wedlock, Hannah could have gotten angry with the Lord and refused to talk to Him, and Jael could have let Sisera live. These women chose the good and did excellently...surpass[ing] them all..

Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1411001 Composed by Joseph Walden. 20th Century,Jazz. 50 pages. Songburd Music #993371. Published by Songburd Music (A0.1411001). Me? D’oh! is as much about word play as it is about the rhythmic melody that uses the solfeggio syllables “mi†and “do†to create a clever musical pun and a tongue-in-cheek expression that reflects a disgruntled response to a sharp and accusative question.  Molded to the swing era this work echoes the style of Glenn Miller as it highlights the good-natured jazzy banter between these musical syllables, emphasizing the different features inherent in each section of the ensemble at different times in the music.  With its compelling momentum, Me? D’oh! is a snappy and light-hearted jazz piece that affords a great opportunity for young ensembles to play more individualized parts and build confidence in playing in the style of the great swing era bands of the 1920s and 1930s.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.973020 Composed by Francis Kayali. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary,Standards,Wedding. Score. 3 pages. Francis Kayali #3866965. Published by Francis Kayali (A0.973020). Between the time we say goodbye and the time we meet again, music can bring solace. For a moment in Edgar Allan Poe’s poem The Raven, the narrator imagines that the bird is sent to bring nepenthe – a medicine that will enable him to forget his grief at the loss of his beloved. Like the nepenthe in The Raven, music provides only temporary respite. The Time in Between is a perpetuum mobile: a constant stream of notes. Above figurations reminiscent of a Baroque prelude, the melody slowly falls.Duration: 3:30Composed by Francis Kayali (BMI) http://www.franciskayali.com

B-Flat Clarinet,Medium Voice,Piano Accompaniment - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1264319 Composed by Ali Hanna, Madison Julius Cawein, and Mark Twain. 21st Century,Contemporary. 6 pages. Ali Hanna #857172. Published by Ali Hanna (A0.1264319). I wrote this piece as an epilogue (pun definitely intended) to a traumatic religious event that took place in February 2023. I won't go into details so I don't risk triggering anyone, but let's just say it was a lot. This is also the first piece I've written where the text isn't my own because my composition professor at the time challenged me to do so.The text of the first half of the piece comes from Mark Twain's poem Warm Summer Sun. It's intended to be an acceptance of the fact that the singer isn't the same person they once were. As the poem repeats, the singer begins to say goodbye to their old self and lay them to rest. The text of the second half of the piece comes from Madison Julius Cawein's poem Take Heart. I see this part as someone in the singer's life giving them hope to keep on living, and who that entity is can be interpreted in a number of ways. For me, it was the friends and professors around me that helped me keep going. I didn't talk to many people about what happened, but just seeing everyone's faces every day taught me that if they can continue living their lives, then so can I.I ended up adding the clarinet part after a moment of inspiration during my trip to the ICA ClarinetFest 2023 in Denver, Colorado. Voice and clarinet are my two passions, so I thought I would use Epilogue to put them together. This piece has yet to be premiered in its current form, but I hope to someday. If you would like to premiere it, please email me at alisonhanna29@gmail.com.
