Elizabeth portrays her first meeting of pregnant Mary carrying Jesus, Hannah expresses her prayer to the Lord to have a child, and Jael portrays her victory over Sisera, the leader of the army of Canaan, an oppressor of Israel. In each of the women’s circumstances, she had a choice to act negatively but chose to respond positively. Elizabeth could have shunned Mary for being pregnant out of wedlock, Hannah could have gotten angry with the Lord and refused to talk to Him, and Jael could have let Sisera live.
