Oboe & piano - Digital Download SKU: IZ.IMF1819 Composed by Willard Zirk. Score and Parts. 7 pages. Imagine Music - Digital #IMF1819. Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.IMF1819). 9 x 12 in inches.Prayer originated as an interlude for flute and piano in my choral setting of Psalm 19, Requiem, written in memory of Marie Mountain Clark. She was a friend and former principal flute in the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra (and Congressional Gold Medal recipient for her service as a WWII Women's Air Service Pilot - WASP). Since the premiere of Requiem in 2009, several of my friends have asked me to transcribe Prayer for their instruments. It has been used for weddings, funerals, offertories, and preludes.Prayer precedes the final verses of Psalm 19 in the Requiem, and it introduces the Psalmist's poignant text on the human weakness of willful transgression. Cleanse thou me from secret faults.... Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer (KJV).I think the fact that I had a bad cold while writing this music added to its effectiveness, for I was feeling quite sorry for myself. The melody portrays my prayer rising ever higher, asking forgiveness for my sins. The plagal (Amen) cadence at the end acknowledges God's gracious forgiveness.Difficulty level: College or advanced high school, requiring full control of intonation and long tones in all ranges.Performance Time: 3' 40.

Alto Saxophone Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.971795 Composed by Britt Andrew Burns. Contemporary. Individual part. 14 pages. Indie Classical Publications #41475. Published by Indie Classical Publications (A0.971795). VALOR is one of my very early compositions, yet it remains one of my favorites I have composed to this day. When writing this, I was trying to capture this sense of emotional struggle that we all face at times. The title is a metaphor for the feeling of being intimidated and overwhelmed by the difficulties we face in life, and making the choice of accepting them and trying to work through them. Often times I think people tend to shy away from their problems rather than addressing them. This work is meant to reflect those emotions when we must have some courage. Like most of my works, this is not written intentionally to indicate a specific form, but it does follow an ABA form. The performers may express some rubato throughout, as it is encouraged in this piece. Originally for Horn & Piano, this version is for the Alto Saxophone & Piano. Difficulty: grade 4 (intermediate).

Small Ensemble Alto Saxophone,B-Flat Clarinet,B-Flat Trumpet,Flute,Horn,Trombone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1047346 By Blaze Scheuerman. By Blaze Scheuerman. 20th Century,Classical,Contemporary,Jazz,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 43 pages. Blaze Scheuerman #651904. Published by Blaze Scheuerman (A0.1047346). Through The Years is meant to be a reflection back onto one’s childhood. Inspired by my own upbringing, it is a recollection of past events that came and mindsets experienced. It opens up with a loud and active sound to show the start of the journey. The character begins happy and energetic, going head first with no fear. The dotted quarter note theme at measure 11 then shows the young child’s state of mind. While beginning to understand concepts of anxiety and fear, he is still full of vigor and confidence. Then at measure 26, the main character begins his adolescence. Still fresh and happy, he sees the world in a simple way and that it is actively watching out for him. He is enjoying this passive time of leisure until measure 40, where he decides to actively try to seek out something. He gets carried away however, and tries to return back to his roots, seen in measure 59. Unfortunately he finds himself tainted and unable to return to his go-getting former self. He then does something peculiar in measure 77. Instead of being angered or saddened by this fact, he accepts it and takes a step back to rebuild himself, seen in the fugato section. After a long and detailed remapping, he finds himself back at his desired happy self. However at measure 127, he feels himself changing once again. So through active awareness and will, he prevents himself from changing into something he doesn’t want to be and instead stays as his desired self.

Fact: Domestic violence is appalling and unacceptable, but what can be done to prevent it at the source since so much of it occurs behind closed doors? Sure, people need to be educated about it, but the bottom line is that a change of heart is needed. ... I need to take responsibility for my conduct and radically change my behaviour for the better. This is a song which might prompt someone to re-think their behaviour. Please note that I did say might.Better to write a song to maybe, in some small way, help to address the problem rather than do nothing at all.If anyone wants to perform this song, then go for it!

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.553727 Composed by Charles Hubert Hastings Parry. Arranged by Ray Thompson. 20th Century,Holiday,Wedding. 9 pages. RayThompsonMusic #3583193. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.553727). Sir Charles Hubert Hastings Parry, 1st Baronet (27 February 1848 – 7 October 1918) was an English composer, teacher and historian of music.Parry's first major works appeared in 1880. As a composer he is best known for the choral song Jerusalem, his 1902 setting for the coronation anthem I was glad, the choral and orchestral ode Blest Pair of Sirens, and the hymn tune Repton, which sets the words Dear Lord and Father of Mankind. His orchestral works include five symphonies and a set of Symphonic Variations. The following is taken from All Music....Helen, Countess of Rador was the wife of the Fifth Earl of Longford Castle, Salisbury and was a close personal friend of Hubert Parry. She was unique in many ways, but perhaps the most intriguing aspect of her personality was her insistence upon doing things not normally viewed as acceptable ways for a proper Victorian Lady to entertain herself. One of these activities was commissioning works for a seventy-two piece chamber orchestra which she then conducted in a public performance in London. The Lady Radnor Suite is one such work, and Lady Radnor and her chamber orchestra gave the first performance June 29, 1894 at St. James Hall. Parry patterned the work on the early classical orchestral suite of dance movements, and the six movements all demonstrate the influence of antiquity. Each traditional dance style is preserved with great care, while Parry's own particularly English harmonic language marks them as more contemporary. This movt. is arranged for wind quintet.Other mvts are availableI have also arrangements of another suite by Parry on this site: The English Suite

Medium-High Voice,Vocal Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1049056 Composed by Kevin G. Pace (ASCAP), Mary Ann W. Snowball. Praise & Worship,Sacred,Spiritual. 8 pages. Kevin G. Pace #653450. Published by Kevin G. Pace (A0.1049056). A beautiful vocal solo with music by Kevin G. Pace and text by Mary Ann W. Snowball. Text: Peace is like starlight in the night sky after the clatter of storm. Peace is the melting of snow-capped peaks bringing the whole world it’s warmth. Peace is the blossom in a new Spring bursting its head from the ground. Peace is the falling of autumn leaves, twirling and spinning around. Peace is the music of symphony after much practice and time. Peace is the poet’s stanza and verse, joining each word and each rhyme. Peace is an artist’s palette and shade, covering canvasses well. Peace is a story written of old filled with a dear life to tell. Peace is a baby’s smile once more, after a sickness has passed. Peace is surpassing personal goals, even when coming in last. Peace is like manna feeding a crowd when there is never enough. Peace is accepting those who seem strange, giving them unending love. Peace is our Father’s answer to prayer when trusting faith has been shown. Peace is sure wisdom, finally gained, like a new truth to be known. Peace is our Savior righting each wrong, covering sin through his cross. Peace is our knowing his love will last so we will never be lost.

Assi Rose Methods #703752. Published by Assi Rose Methods (A0.1099867). A Russian folk song from the 19th century. The original lyrics are in Russian , it is about the story of a meeting between a merchant and a girl. This poem is based on an earlier version of a poem by Nekrasov , printed in 1861 on the Sovremennik magazine. The style and tempo of the song led this folk song to become a world wide popular song. Became a world wide popular composition outside Russia in 1989 as The Tetris theme' in the version of Nintendo game, rearranged by a Japanese composer: Hirokazu Tanaka. Korobeiniki ia a name for peddlers with trays ,merchants who sold fabrics, books and other small items in old Russia, before the revolution. Nekrasov's poem is longer, The story is about a young peddler who seduces a peasant girl named Katya in a rye field. He offers her some of his products as gifts in exchange for sexual favours. She rejects all but she ends up accepting a ring he offered. The next morning, he asked her to marry him. The poem ends sadly with the peddler being robbed and killed by a forest ranger.

Published by Sacred Music Press (LX.55-1034S). Holy Week is vividly encapsulated in this remarkable composition. It com-bines narratives of biblical verse and religious poetry, congregational singing, and original choral settings of familiar hymns to dramatize Jesus' final days and hours. The work is conceived to enhance the preparatory celebration of Easter The music is, by turns, reflective (THE CALL), introspective (O LOVE, HOW DEEP, HOW BROAD, HOW HIGH), commanding (RIDE ON RIDE ON IN MAJESTY), gentle(LET US BREAK BREAD TOGETHER), dramatic (GO TO DARK GETHSEMANE), and ultimately, life-accepting (WERE YOU THERE?). This noteworthy musical achievement enhances the most important celebration of the Christian year.

String Quartet String Quartet - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.938389 Composed by Colin Bayliss. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 46 pages. Colin Bayliss #6143. Published by Colin Bayliss (A0.938389). This was written in the summer of 2000 for the Lochrian Ensemble who were beginning to plan the recording of the complete string quartets. In the context of the other string quartets, here there is a reversion to the classical form, thus giving a balance between the classical quartets nos. 1, 2 and 6 and the kaleidoscopic quartets nos. 3, 4 and 5. It is in the conventional four movements:- 1. Allegro - This movement is in single subject sonata form using one figure. There is much use of quasimodal writing, especially using the Lochrian and Superlochrian modes, based both on E and C and the Mixolydian mode on E, giving a sort of tonality in which the constructional remainder notes of the serial row can be used sparingly. The pull towards a tonality of F is therefore established quickly. Each section is rounded off by the metamorphosis of the figure into a sentimental tune, but contrary to expectation, it evolves in the coda into something completely different - the opening of Beethoven's F minor string quartet Op. 95. 2. Scherzo - Wobblefunk and Tango After the last movement's ending has dispelled any seriousness, the stage is set for an outrageous scherzo. After the tango, the wobblefunk section is repeated bar by bar in reverse. Why not? It doesn't make any sense the right way round! Historical note: the term wobblefunk was invented by the composer's son Edmund to describe a type of subdued electronic crossover style music which he had written. In keeping with the family sense of humour, the thought of incorporating such a movement into a serious string quartet appealed to both parties. 3. Adagio - This movement is tonal and melodic, but introduced by a discordant motif which re-appears as if to remind the listener of their own mortality. The movement progresses through the cycle of fifths and then dissolves into a sinister coda related to the notes of the discord. 4. Allegro - This movement can be summed up as accepting life's problems but getting on with enjoying the good things as well - in the spirit of the last movement of Beethoven's string quartet Op.135. Must it be? It must be! Even if it includes a textural fugue! The ending, however, is decidedly not as clear-cut as Beethoven's ....... The Score and Parts are available on this site as separate downloads The sound sample is the third movement - performed by the Lochrian Ensemble The complete 6 string quartets performed by the Lochrian Ensemble are available on itunes: see: http://www.dwsolo.com/colinbayliss/ and - for this 6th quartet: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/bayliss-string-quartet-no.-6/id573669350.

Theme and Variations-Accompaniment Track, Dan CutchenTime: approximately 6:00And Can It Be That I Should Gain? is a Christian hymn written by Charles Wesley. And Can It Be was written in 1738 to celebrate Wesley's conversion, which he regarded as having taken place on May 21 of that year. This beautiful hymn has been popular and enduring. And Can It Be That I Should Gain is perhaps one of the most joyfully poignant hymns penned by Charles Wesley (1707-1788). On Whitsunday (Pentecost), May 21, 1738, three days before his brother John experienced his heart strangely warmed,’ Charles was convalescing in the home of John Bray, a poor mechanic, when he heard a voice saying, In the name of Jesus of Nazareth, arise, and believe, and thou shalt be healed of all thy infirmities. The voice was most likely Mr. Bray’s sister who felt commanded to say these words in a dream.Anglican hymn writer Timothy Dudley-Smith, notes that the following then happened:Charles got out of bed and opening his Bible read from the Psalms: He have put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God, followed by the first verse of Isaiah 40, Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God. He wrote in his journal, I have found myself at peace with God, and rejoiced in the hope of love Christ (Dudley-Smith, 1987, 1).The statement from Mr. Bray’s sister sparked within Charles a conviction like he had never felt before. Moved and convicted in spirit, Charles wrestled with these words until he came to rest in his faith, knowing that it is by faith we are saved (Ephesians 2:8).Soon after this conversion experience, he wrote two hymns in celebration of the amazing love he had come to know: And Can It Be that I Should Gain and Where Shall My Wondering Soul Begin? (United Methodist Hymnal, 342)There has been some debate as to which hymn was written first, but most current scholarship accepts the latter as the first hymn written by Charles after his conversion experience. No matter its place in the chronology of Wesley's output, And Can It Be has been and remains one of his most remarkable hymns, expressing like no other the rapturous joy of receiving salvation. And Can It Be That I Should Gain.
