String Ensemble - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.785969 Composed by Music by F. Gruber Words by J. Mohr, 1818. Arranged by Adapted and arranged by Andrew R. Guarrine. Christian,Christmas,Romantic Period,Sacred. Score and parts. 12 pages. GuarrineMusic #3627523. Published by GuarrineMusic (A0.785969). Another revision of an arrangement that I did about 10 years ago that is more playable for younger groups.  Re-named, written in the key of G, simplified rhythms, (no eighth notes at all) low 2’s in the upper strings (2nd fingers in the lower strings) that are marked PLUS it is written for either a 3part orchestra (vln.1, vln.2/vla and cello/cb, piano) OR 4part (same as above with an added, independent viola part).  How neat is that? Also can be performed as a trio or quartet. Very versatile arrangement. Grade 1+ (fingerings) ALL PARTS ARE INCLUDEDThe audio sample is of the 4 part arrangement.

Instrumental Duet Bass Clarinet,Instrumental Duet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.591330 Composed by David McKeown. Blues,Easter,Hip-Hop,Pop,R & B,Rock. Score and parts. 3 pages. David McKeown #6292143. Published by David McKeown (A0.591330). The Tulip Ch’Boogie is a fun and original duet written by David McKeown for one Clarinet and one Bass Clarinet. The Tulip Ch’Boogie is one in a series of ten Easter-themed duets each written in a different American dance style. Boogie originally referred to the piano style found in Southern State bars where the driving swung bass-line, often double in octaves, cut through the noise. These bass-line patterns were adapted by Big Bands in the ‘30s, and later by Jump bands like that of Louis Jordan. Later still Boogie was quickly incorporated into Rockabilly and Rock’n’Roll. The Tulip Ch’Boogie is suitable for players at an intermediate level and above, with the accessible key and range balanced by the fast tempo and syncopated rhythms and accidentals. With a playing-time of around one and a half minutes, The Tulip Ch’Boogie is a perfect upbeat addition to any performance program, formal or informal. Piano,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1382422 Composed by Philip R Buttall. Children,Classical,Romantic Period,Traditional. 9 pages. PRB Music #742662. Published by PRB Music (A0.1382422). After being locked down by Covid, I had almost lost the will to live, let alone go on holiday again outside the UK. Two years before I had had a lovely time in Italy, visiting Rome, Pisa, Puccini's House, Florence, Sienna, and more. Almost at the end of the trip I stayed a couple of days with my dear musical friends in Perugia, where their then 8-year-old daughter, Martha, was making great strides forward on the violin (mum is a concert pianist and teacher, similarly dad, but on the clarinet. I had booked to stay in Cesena where they had moved two, and I had a lovely time here, two, adding Bologna, Rossini's Museum, Rimini and some of the Adriatic coast to my list of places visited. They, too, had had lockdowns, and cancellations, but quite by chance, the weekend I had planned to be in Cesena, was the rearranged date of a special outside concert in the imposing surroundings of Rocca Malatestiana, a medieval fortress than dominates the town. Martha was going to be performing a violin concerto by Rode, and her dad had adapted the orchestral accompaniment, so that the large clarinet ensemble could take its place on the night. It was a wonderful, moving evening, and Martha played so well. I don't think there was a dry eye in the house! When I knew I was visiting them this year, I wrote Martha a little fun piece, with piano accompaniment, that she might have been able to play while I was there. But because of the rescheduled concerto performance, there just wasn't enough time for her to learn and practise the piece with her violin teacher in Bologna. I even added an optional part for clarinet, so dad would not feel left out. Hopefully, one day, I might still hear Waltz for Martha played by its dedicatees! It's a kind of schmalzy Viennese Waltz, in the style of Kreisler and others! You can purchase the piano score and violin part here. The optional clarinet part is available FREE OF CHARGE - by emailing info@philiprbuttall.co.uk.

String Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1314447 Composed by Samuel Bagnall. Arranged by Joel R Hobbs. 19th Century,Classical,Folk,Romantic Period,Standards. 28 pages. Hyoshi New Media, Inc. #903199. Published by Hyoshi New Media, Inc. (A0.1314447). Starry Night for a Ramble was popularized in Victorian London by singer and Shakespearean comic Samuel Bagnall in 1873.  Although an earlier edition from Scotland exists suggesting it was written earlier and perhaps by someone else. Later it was adapted as a popular fiddle tune which is still heard at contra dances today, either as a jig or a waltz.  This arrangement for mandolin orchestra incorporates the salubrious tune as both a waltz and a jig on a meandering ramble through various keys.

Brass Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.808694 Composed by Alexander R. Reinagle (1799-1877). Arranged by F. Leslie Smith. Christian,Easter,Holiday,Sacred. Score and parts. 22 pages. Sweetwater Brass Press #4798569. Published by Sweetwater Brass Press (A0.808694).     British composer Alexander Robert Reinagle wrote this melody about 1836 and named it after the church where he was organist, Oxford's St. Peter-in-the-East. First published as a musical setting for Psalm 118, it was adapted to John Newton’s How Sweet the Name of Jesus Sounds in 1861 and then to the hymn by John Oxenham (William A. Dunkerley), In Christ There Is No East or West, in the early 20th Century.    While some sources specify that the St. Peter melody should be played without any festive fanfares, this brass quintet version does contain a few ceremonial flourishes.    Most players will have little or no difficulty with this piece. The andante moderato tempo should be interpreted as somewhere in the vicinity of quarter note = 92. Most of the rhythm patterns involve quarter and eighth notes, with a few 16th-note passages scattered throughout. Trumpet 1’s highest note is its high A; tuba’s lowest is G below the staff. Otherwise, the music remains well within the normal playing range of all instruments.     This arrangement was completed in 2019, and performance time runs about 4 minutes, 13 seconds. The arranger, Les Smith, will be happy to provide substitute parts (for example, treble clef baritone for trombone) at no charge; contact him directly at lessmith61@bellsouth.net. For more arrangements by Les, enter Sweetwater Brass Press (without the quotation marks) in the SheetMusicPlus search box.
