Published by Juan Maria Solare (A0.596625). Ognuno sta solo: a piece for piano in neoclassical or neo-romantic style, which reveals a desolate musical atmosphere. The title quotes a poem by the Sicilian poet Salvatore Quasimodo (1901-1968) about incommunicability: Ognuno sta solo sul cuor della terra trafitto da un raggio di sole: ed è subito sera   Everyone stands alone at the heart of the earth pierced by a ray of sunlight and suddenly it's night.   (an own translation, I do not claim it to be the best)  This prelude for piano was composed in Bremen (Germany) on May 11, 2019. #ognunostasolo #pianomusic  #minimalmusic

Small Ensemble,Strings Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549783 Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Classical,Concert,Sacred,Standards,World. Score and parts. 27 pages. Jmsgu3 #3535793. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549783). Mozart's Romanze from Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, K. 525 for String Quartet and Piano (Piano Quintet). Duration: ca. 7:00. Score: 11 pages. Violin I: 4 pages, Violin II: 3 pages, Viola: 3 pages, Cello: 2 pages, piano: 4 pages. This is one of the most beloved works in all of Mozart's catalog making it a strong choice for a recital, meditation, nightclub, church or wedding reception. Eine kleine Nachtmusik Eine kleine Nachtmusik is also at the same time known as Serenade No. 13. Indeed, we find it listed in the Köchel Catalog as K. 525. With this in mind, Mozart composed the piece by all means in 1787 probably as a commission. To clarify, the title translates as a little night-music. Mozart originally scored the work in particular for an ensemble of two violins, viola, and cello with double bass (optional). In modern times the work is certainly usually performed by string orchestras, though it is often in fact performed by a string quartet – with or without double bass. Publication A point often overlooked is that the name of the work derives from the entry Mozart made in his private journal. He wrote: Eine kleine Nacht-Musik. This explains that Mozart was probably not naming the piece, but only entering a record that he had completed it. Nevertheless, the work was published by and large in 1827. It had been sold to the publisher for the most part in 1799 by Mozart's widow Constanze. Nowadays, it is on balance extensively performed and recorded. Some critics ultimately claim that it is the most popular of all Mozart's works.   Early Years Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756 – 1791), was a productive and significant Austrian classical composer. Mozart displayed unusual musical capability from his earliest childhood. It seems like he was already capable on keyboard and violin at the age of two. He started composing at age five and performed before European royalty. Middle Period At 17, Mozart was working as a musician at the Salzburg Royal court but grew agitated from boredom and traveled to search for a more interesting job. While visiting Vienna in 1781, he was summarily dismissed from his Salzburg job. Nevertheless, he decided to stay in the capital (Vienna), where he achieved much fame but little economic haven. Throughout his concluding years in the Capital, he composed many of his most famous works: symphonies, operas, and concertos. Final Period The conditions surrounding his death have been much the subject of much conjecture and mythology. He composed more than 600 works, many recognized as highpoints of symphonic, chamber, concertante, choral and operatic. He is among the most everlastingly popular of classical composers, and his impact is substantial on succeeding Western art music.  Register for free lifetime updates and revisions of this product at www.jamesguthrie.com

Brass Ensemble,Brass Quintet - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.774915 Arranged by Bill Wilson. Sacred. Score and parts. 18 pages. Alexander Wilson #1932585. Published by Alexander Wilson (A0.774915). Pavel Vorotnikov was a mid-level functionary in the Russian Orthodox church in the mid 1800's. His claim to fame, such as it is, was adding the most compositions to the list of church-approved music during a period of extreme musical censorship. Ironically, the very forces that stifled innovation during this period led to Vorotnikov's success composing gorgeous but unimaginative choral music. It evokes very strong images of dark wood, towering worship spaces, and stained glass. Arranged for brass quintet (two Bb trumpets, French horn, trombone, and tuba).  Visit our website, www.tootsuitebrasspublishing.com, for a catalog of our arrangements available through sheetmusicplus.com.

A lovely musical vocal duet between a child and Jesus Christ.  Music by Kevin G. Pace.  Text by Mary Ann W. Snowball.  A musical conversation between a child and Jesus Christ. Text:Child: See me, O Lord. Draw near to my soul. Make my faith stronger than gold. Give eye, and shine forth; let light fill thy face. And comfort me with thy embrace. Christ:When vast darkness masks the sun, do not be afraid. I'm in the heavens, yet this earth I made. I created hearts to see, even through each cloud. I'll also help grow faith when one does not doubt. Christ:Some long trials hide my face, though I see you still.I've perfect vision, and hope to instill. Temporal spheres are not to keep; this life's not your own. Trudging through mortality readies one for Home. Child:Some long trials hide your face, though you see me; see me still. You've perfect vision and hope to instill. Temporal spheres are not to keep; this life's not my own. Trudging through mortality readies one for Home. Christ:Even I felt Father gone on my lonely cross, He'll never leave you, for I paid that loss. Come and claim God's promises; His gifts are in store.Love and light will shine bright through heaven's door. Child:See me, O Lord. I am near to thy soul With sure faith stronger than gold. I look and see pure light in thy face, Then I feel thy warm embrace.Christ:I give you pure light, my pure light, Then you feel my warm embrace.

Clarinet,Euphonium,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1422688 Composed by Frank Pleyer and Johann Hanns Schrammel. Arranged by Willi Schmidt-Petersen (Arranger) Peet du Toit (Orchestrator). March. 14 pages. Peet du Toit #1004039. Published by Peet du Toit (A0.1422688). Johann Schrammel, (22 May 1850 – 17 June 1893), was an Austrian composer and musician.Johann was the illegitimate son of the clarinettist Kaspar Schrammel and his late wife Aloisia Ernst; his younger brother Josef Schrammel was in a similar situation. He also had an older half-brother named Konrad Schrammel (1833–1905), who had a less prestigious livelihood as a barrel organ player as he was forced to retire as an invalid from military service. In his first musical lessons Schrammel got together with his brother, with assistance from his father. With approximately six years, Johann Schrammel could sing in the church choir in his home town Neulerchenfeld. His father had helped him receive violin lessons from Ernst Melzer despite a poor financial position. On 6 January 1861, Johann Schrammel debuted along with his brother and father at a concert at the local inn Zum goldenen Stuck at the Neulerchenfelder Straße. From 1862 to 1863 he and his two brothers studied music at the Vienna Conservatory. In addition to singing lessons, the violin was taken up by Josef Schrammel. In June 1865 Johann Schrammel left the Conservatory, and unsecured sources claim that he was at that time already a member of the orchestra of Danzers Orpheum, Harmonietheater. In 1872 he married Rosalia Weichselbaumer and had 13 children with her; 9 of which survived childhood. In 1878 he founded with his brother Josef Schrammel and Anton Strohmayer a trio; they were later joined by the clarinettist Georg Dänzer to form the famous Schrammel Quartet.Johann Schrammel died at age 43 and was awarded an honorary grave in the Hernalser Cemetery.Info Source: Wikipedia.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.828261 Composed by Anonymous. Arranged by Paul Thurmond. Christian,Gospel,Sacred,Spiritual. Score. 4 pages. Paul Thurmond #4969095. Published by Paul Thurmond (A0.828261). Tune: LET US BREAK BREADUse: Prelude, Offertory, CommunionThis song is an African-American spiritual. Some of the text may date back as far as the 18th century. Although it has been used in communion since at least the Civil War, that may not have been its original intent.I have heard lectures given by researchers who claim that many African-American spirituals contain coded messages, intended for slaves, about secret meetings, clandestine worship services, and escape plans. Some songs are even said to contain maps. The texts are innocuous on the surface, so as to not alert the slave owners. Some of the double meanings seem obvious in retrospect:When Israel was in Egypt land,Let My people go.Oppressed so hard they could not stand,Let My people go.And:Steal away, steal away, steal away to Jesus!Steal away, steal away home. I ain’t got long to stay here.In Let Us Break Bread Together, this curious line may have a double meaning:When I fall on my knees, with my face to the rising sunCommunion needn’t take place at daybreak, nor while facing east. The lyrics could be a pointer to a specific time and place for a prohibited meeting.Whatever its original meaning, this and many other African-American spirituals are now an important part of many worship traditions.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.942857 Composed by James W. Knox. Contemporary. Octavo. 9 pages. Knox Music #4268673. Published by Knox Music (A0.942857). Mary Elizabeth Frye (1905-2004) The poem that Mary had written in 1932 depicts the story of a young Jewish girl, Margaret Schwarzkopf, who had been staying at the Frye’s household and was unable to visit her dying grandmother in Germany due to anti-Semitic unrest.  Mary Frye made several copies of the poem and circulated them privately and among her friends. She never published or copyrighted the poem and so it remained unknown until Frye revealed that she had written it.  Her claim was confirmed in 1998 after research by Abigail Van Buren.

Brass Ensemble E-Flat Cornet - Digital Download SKU: A0.1047820 Composed by Buddy Bernier and Nat Simon. Arranged by Bud Caputo. Jazz,Traditional. Score and parts. 22 pages. Bud Caputo #652253. Published by Bud Caputo (A0.1047820). A Drum set is optional but will add to the Latin flavor. The song has been identified as a development of a Cuban folk song entitled La Canción del Ãrbol whose title translates as the song of the tree, the royal poinciana being a favorite Caribbean flowering plant.[1][2] However composer Nat Simon would claim the song's tune came to him while he was dining at Manhattan Theater District restaurant Leone's, and that he jotted down a rough draft of the melody on his table's cloth which - with Leone's permission - he took home to work out the completed melody at his piano. Lyrics for the song were completed in about thirty minutes by Buddy Bernier, who cited as his inspiration a postcard of a royal Poinciana tree he'd recently received from Florida.[3].

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1083332 By Idalmo Santos. By Francisca Gonzaga (Chiquinha Gonzaga 1847-1935). Arranged by Idalmo Santos. Latin,Multicultural,World. Score. 4 pages. Idalmo Santos #687534. Published by Idalmo Santos (A0.1083332). One of the most famous Brazilian songs and one of the best known compositions by Chiquinha Gonzaga, the modinha Lua branca has a history surrounded by mystery. It was written for the burleta Forrodobó, performed at Teatro São José in June 1912, as a modinha for the characters Sá Zeferina and Escandanhas, whose original verses maintain the caricature spirit of the play. In 1929, this romantic version appeared with the title Lua branca (White Moon), recorded by the singer Gastão Formenti, without the authorship of the verses and the new title being known to this day. Between the two versions, there was an arrangement on disc with the title Lua de fulgores by the singer R. Ricciardi, pseudonym of the paulista Paraguassu, but it was the version recorded by Gastão Formenti, accompanied on the piano by professor J. Otaviano, and the Irmãos Vitale edition with harmonization by the pianist that became famous. Chiquinha Gonzaga had to claim authorship of the modinha, denouncing plagiarism and obtaining victory through Sbat, an entity she founded. The original version was recorded as a comic scene by Pinto Filho and Maria Vidal, in 1930, with the title Sá Zeferina. Also the original melody with verses by Paulo César Pinheiro, entitled Serenata de uma mulher (A Woman's Serenade), was recorded by Olívia Hime in 1998. The version canonized as Lua branca has numerous phonograph records by singers and instrumentalists such as Paulo Tapajós, Paulo Fortes, Rosemary, Vânia Carvalho, Maria Bethânia, Verônica Sabino, Leila Pinheiro, Joana, Alessandra Maestrini, Antonio Adolfo, Eudóxia de Barros, Rosária Gatti, Marcus Vianna, Maria Teresa Madeira, and Leandro Braga.

Bassoon,Clarinet,Double Bass,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1126904 By Philip Le Bas. By M Ravel. Arranged by Philip Le Bas. 20th Century,Chamber,Classical. 38 pages. Philip Le Bas #727553. Published by Philip Le Bas (A0.1126904). An arrangement by Philip Le Bas for double wind quintet and double bass of Ravel's short masterpiece, originally for piano and then - brilliantly - orchestrated by him. However, Ravel's horn part presenting the melody at the start is notoriously high and exposed, so the arranger has taken the liberty of giving this to the oboe, instead. Ravel's oboe part, in turn, is very low and exposed in places, and the arranger has once again taken the opportunity to rescore this, along with many other parts. Not that this is any claim to be improving on the master's orchestration, but simply in order to make this beautifully simple piece more accessible, without losing its almost universal appeal!

String Trio Cello,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1491668 By The Killers. By Brandon Flowers, Dave Keuning, Mark Stoermer, and Ronnie Vannucci. Arranged by Homco/Crinion. Rock. 7 pages. Homco/Crinion #1068345. Published by Homco/Crinion (A0.1491668). Smile Like You Mean It is a song by American rock band The Killers. It was co-written by their lead vocalist and their bassist in 2003. They claim that the song was written in just 8 minutes. (?!) Several years ago, this song was the special request of a potential groom who was throwing a surprise birthday party for his girlfriend - with the intent of proposing to her during the party. He had hired our String Trio to provide the background music for the celebration, and specifically wanted to propse to her during the playing of this song. Hesitantly, I agreed to write an arrangement  of this song for String Trio - and much to my surprise and delight, the translation worked out rather well.  ...And she said, Yes!.
