Concert Band - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1152527 Composed by Hector Berlioz. Arranged by Guilherme Ribeiro. 20th Century,Classical,March,Opera,Romantic Period. Score and Parts. 103 pages. Gui Ribeiro #752748. Published by Gui Ribeiro (A0.1152527). Symphonie fantastique is a piece of program music that tells the story of an artist gifted with a lively imagination who has poisoned himself with opium in the depths of despair because of hopeless, unrequited love. Berlioz provided his own preface and program notes for each movement of the work. Convinced that his love is spurned, the artist poisons himself with opium. The dose of narcotic, while too weak to cause his death, plunges him into a heavy sleep accompanied by the strangest of visions. He dreams that he has killed his beloved, that he is condemned, led to the scaffold and is witnessing his own execution. The procession advances to the sound of a march that is sometimes sombre and wild, and sometimes brilliant and solemn, in which a dull sound of heavy footsteps follows without transition the loudest outbursts. At the end of the march, the first four bars of the idée fixe reappear like a final thought of love interrupted by the fatal blow. Berlioz claimed to have written the fourth movement in a single night, reconstructing music from an unfinished project, the opera Les francs-juges. The movement begins with timpani sextuplets in thirds, for which he directs: The first quaver of each half-bar is to be played with two drumsticks, and the other five with the right hand drumsticks. The movement proceeds as a march filled with blaring horns and rushing passages, and scurrying figures that later show up in the last movement. NOTES: - The two timpani part can be played by only the 2 pairs of timpani. - Measure 93 and 100: Clarinet 1, 2 and 3 play one octave lower as written.

Instrumental Duet Clarinet,Instrumental Duet,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.588657 By The Beatles. By John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Arranged by David McKeown. Rock. Score and parts. 4 pages. David McKeown #5324713. Published by David McKeown (A0.588657). In My Life by the Beatles, was released on the 1965 album, Rubber Soul. It was chiefly written and sung by John Lennon, who claimed it was his first serious attempt at personal song-writing. The song features a baroque style piano solo by George Martin. The tempo was too fast for him to perform it, so he played it at half tempo and layer doubled the tape speed. The resulting tinny sound gave rise to a host of copycat harpsichord solos on contemporary pop songs. This version of In My Life is arranged as a duet for one Violin and one Clarinet. Musicians at an intermediate level will find In My Life ideal for formal and informal concert performance. Most of the duet is straightforward though the transcribed piano solo is difficult for both players; these eight bars can be skipped without affecting the overall structure of the song. The overall performance time is around two and a half minutes. The full YouTube performance above is the Clarinet Duet version of In My Life.Teachers will enjoy using this arrangement as a fun way to help with ensemble skills and syncopated rhythms. There are many more top quality arrangements and compositions by David McKeown for you to browse at http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/publishers/david-mckeown/6203

Dury Loveridge #3564193. Published by Dury Loveridge (A0.752614). Guitar - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1326035 Composed by Unknown. Arranged by Edina Balczo. Christian,Christmas,Classical,Holiday,Spiritual. Guitar Tab. 2 pages. Edina Balczo #914234. Published by Edina Balczo (A0.1326035). Away in a Manger is a Christmas carol first published in the late nineteenth century and used widely throughout the English-speaking world. In Britain, it is one of the most popular carols. Although it was long claimed to be the work of German religious reformer Martin Luther, the carol is now thought to be wholly American in origin.[1] The two most common musical settings are by William J. Kirkpatrick (1895) and James Ramsey Murray (1887). Arranged for classical/fingertsyle guitar.

Instrumental Duet Clarinet,Flute,Instrumental Duet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.956621 Composed by J Strauss II. Arranged by Catriona Melville-Mason. Concert,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and parts. 7 pages. C Melville-Mason #6481195. Published by C Melville-Mason (A0.956621). An intermediate-level arrangement of a Strauss march, for mixed woodwind duet of flute and clarinet in B-flat.In his lifetime, Austrian composer Johann Strauss II (1825 – 1899) was dubbed ‘The Waltz King’, reflecting his prolific output of this type of dance music.  He also composed polkas, quadrilles, marches, operettas and a ballet. During the 1848 upheavals in the Austrian Empire, Johann II opted to side with the revolutionaries.  This allegiance had an adverse effect on his career, as well as deepening the rift between him and his father, so in due course Johann wrote several marches with titles that might encourage the establishment to forget his past pro-revolutionary sympathies. The Ottinger Reiter-Marsch was first published in 1850.  Strauss claimed that the work had been commissioned for a regiment who specifically requested the dedication to General Franz von Ottinger.  At the time, Ottinger was not very popular, largely because of his punitive attitude towards former revolutionaries.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Oboe - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1127840 Composed by E Elgar. Arranged by Philip Le Bas. 19th Century,Chamber,Classical. 26 pages. Philip Le Bas #728449. Published by Philip Le Bas (A0.1127840). An arrangement by Philip Le Bas of a very early wind quintet written by Edward Elgar while still based in Worcester in 1878-9, entitled Harmony Music No.1, after the German Harmoniemusik, meaning music for wind instruments. His quintet group (in which he played the bassoon) consisted of two flutes, an oboe, a clarinet and a bassoon, which by modern standards is rather unusual (omitting the usual French horn). He agreed to write a quintet for the group once a week, and he claimed to have written most of them during the 25-minute sermons at St. George's R.C. Church, where he had taken over the organ-playing from his father (and where the arranger ministered for three years in the 1990s!) It is a wonderful, cheerful, tuneful short piece (4-5 minutes long), but the original version is rarely performed, perhaps because of its difficulty on several fronts. First it is very fast, challenging performers' ability to tongue rapidly. Secondly, it repeatedly leaves no time to breathe, especially for the flautists (meaning that it has to be performed even faster, in order to get through it.) Thirdly, Elgar's oboist must have been extremely versatile, as its part is very low indeed in places (several low B's played pp at speed.) Finally, published copies seem to have rather a lot of editorial errors... This arrangement was therefore created in the hope that the piece might become more accessible and be more frequently performed. Although the bassoon part remains Elgar's, the other four players are used imaginatively to overcome many of the difficulties of the original. For example, the original low oboe parts are here played by one of the clarinets instead, and the severe breathing problems are solved by sharing repeated quavers between the four higher instruments.

Organ - Digital Download SKU: A0.828694 Composed by Johann Speth. Arranged by Guido Menestrina. Baroque. Score. 6 pages. Guido Menestrina #115545. Published by Guido Menestrina (A0.828694). Johann Speth (1664-1719) - Toccata Prima oder erstes musikalishes Blumen-Feld Transcribed by Guido Menestrina - youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8huOtZ9bQak From Wikipedia: Johann (Johannes) Speth (9 November 1664 – after 1719) was a German organist and composer. He was born in Speinshart, some 150 km from Nuremberg, but spent most of his life in Augsburg, where he worked as cathedral organist for two years. His only surviving music is a 1693 collection, Ars Magna Consoni et Dissoni, which includes toccatas, Magnificat versets and variations in south German style. Speth was born in Speinshart, Bavaria, to teacher Heinrich Speth and his wife Margareta (née Vichtl). Past scholars established that Speth must have received music lessons from the abbot of the Premonstratensian monastery at Speinshart, one Dominikus Lieblein, however, this has recently been disproven. Nothing is known about his life before 1692, when he applied for the position of organist of Augsburg Cathedral. The application, which contained Speth's compositions, was accepted, and he was appointed organist on 4 November 1692. The music he supplied with the application was published the next year in Augsburg as Ars magna Consoni et Dissoni. In the files of the cathedral administration there is a note from 1705 showing that Speth had also to work in the office of the cathedral chapter. The exact date of Speth's death is unknown, but there is a document that shows that in 1719, he still lived with his wife and a maidservant in Augsburg. The composer's only surviving work is the collection published in 1693 in Augsburg, Ars magna Consoni et Dissoni. The title may be a reference to Athanasius Kircher's famous book, Musurgia universalis, sive ars magna consoni et dissoni (1650). An early description of the work was included by Johann Gottfried Walther in his Musikalisches Lexicon; Walther claimed Speth only compiled the pieces but did not compose. This hypothesis is now generally considered false. Ars Magna contains music intended for organ or clavichord: 10 toccatas (subtitled Musicalische Blumen-Felder), 8 Magnificat settings, and three variation sets. The music has clearly traceable Italian influences, with direct borrowings: one of the variation sets is built on a theme by Bernardo Pasquini, there is also a passage from Bernardo Storace in the Spangioletta variation set, and a verset by Alessandro Poglietti (quinti toni no. 3). The influence of contemporary southern organists is also apparent, particularly that of Georg Muffat and Johann Caspar Ferdinand Fischer. The toccatas are unusually short for the genre; most consist of three (toccata-fugue-toccata) sections. There are some interesting features such as dynamic indications in Toccata quarta. The Magnificat settings are, like similar pieces by Johann Kaspar Kerll and others, short versets for alternatim practice.

Duration 8 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q53928. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q53928). Italian. For my composition Cosa devo fare, I was inspired when I read the text accompanying the picture cycle Books of Venice by the Latvian artist Ilmars Blumbergs, who died in 2016. The Books of Venice, consisting of paintings and photographs, were created by the artist during a stay in Venice and presented in an exhibition in the Oratorio de San Ludovico in Venice two years before his death. In the text, Blumbergs is quoted with an anecdote according to which a sick friend told him that, when in despair, and hoping for recovery, he had asked the Virgin Mary for help: “What should I do?†To Blumbergs’ surprise, the sick friend claimed to have received the answer: “Be as you were when you were in love.†(Pēteris Vasks).

Choral Choir (TTBB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.928966 Composed by Lyrics attributed to Frank H. Maynard, 1853-1926. Arranged by Donald A. Mills, 2018. A Cappella,Concert,Folk. Octavo. 5 pages. Donald A Mills #3544217. Published by Donald A Mills (A0.928966). Your men's chorus or quintet will love this song and its harmonies...and your audiences will as well.  This old standard Cowboy song, also known as The Cowboy's Lament, has been sung for hundreds of years. It has accumulated hundreds of chorus lines, some tame, some ribald. Treat your audience to this new arrangement, to be sung by an a cappella TTBB chorus or quartet plus a bass/baritone soloist. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: Members of the Western Writers of America chose this song as one of the top 100 Western Sonngs of all time.  The song title refers to the city of Laredo, Texas. The authorship of the words were claimed by Frank H. Maynard (1853-1926) of Colorado Springs, Colorado. The song was first published in 1910. The tune appears to be descended from an Irish song from the late 18th century called, The Unfortunate Rake.
