Piano,Violin - Digital Download

SKU: A0.497962

Composed by Alexander Glazunov. Arranged by Pietro Prugna. Classical,Film/TV,Romantic Period. 8 pages. Published by Pietro Prugna (A0.497962).

This is a very cinematographic and poetic piece of music. It was originally written for cello and orchestra, and arranged for cello and piano by Alexander Glazunov. However, as with all beautiful melodies, a different feel is achieved with another instrument. I have transcribed it for violin and piano. With the violin, it is technically easier as the original required very high positions on the cello, which is easily played with the E string of the violin. Also, it was originally in tenor clef, which may be challenging for some. In this transcription, it is in treble clef instead. It can also be played with viola (which will be 1 octave higher than the original cello version). This pdf includes Full Score for Violin and Piano and Set of Parts (Violin and Piano).

Composed by Alexander Glazunov. Arranged by Arkady Leytush. Romantic Period. Score and parts. 82 pages. Arkady Leytush #6599291. Published by Arkady Leytush (A0.1008425).

Glazunov's orchestral repertoire includes two famous waltzes op. 47 and 51. Big concert waltz op. 41 was written exclusively for piano. I had a great desire to change the salon scale of this work, moving it to the concert stage, making a transcription for piano with a large symphony orchestra. The structure and periodicity of the musical form allowed me to realize this idea as a dialogue, a duet of a soloist and an orchestra. In some episodes, only the orchestra or only the solo piano sounds, while a number of other places are more like a typical concert for piano and orchestra. I hope this new transcription should be of an interest for  both, pianists and conductors. Considering the compactness of the sound (7 minutes), this piece could, for example, decorate a concert program after performing a concert for piano and orchestra as an encore.

Brass Ensemble Horn - Level 2 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.931260

Composed by A. Glazunov. Arranged by Alessandro Macrì. Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and parts. 22 pages. Music Macri Editions #5798447. Published by Music Macri Editions (A0.931260).

As a composer, Alexander Glazunov was as at home in the late Romantic symphony as he was in chamber music forms. His shorter solo pieces impress on account of their enchanting melodies and their attention to detail, which is also true of the Rêverie for horn and piano. Glazunov was himself a good horn player and played in several orchestras as a young student. It was at this time that Glazunov composed this highly romantic work in which he showed off the melodious qualities of this instrument to their best advantage. It is an effective recital piece, even for advanced pupils, and is being published for the first time as an Urtext edition; alongside the first edition we also consulted Glazunov’s autograph in the National Library of Russia in St Petersburg for the first time.
