Large Ensemble Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Clarinet,Flute,Oboe,Soprano Recorder,Soprano Saxophone,Tenor Recorder,Tenor Saxophone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.842537 Composed by Various (Collection). Arranged by B. Brennan. Concert,Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and parts. 24 pages. Bl_music #5290007. Published by bl_music (A0.842537). Calisthenics for Recorders in C 15 Solo-Etudes, Gallops, Polkas, Variations (notation: treble clef) 15 entertaining solo-etudes: Rondos, Polkas, Gallops, Variations….. all suitable for intermediate to advanced students as well as professionals; as exercises for the fingers, just for the fun of it or as (shorter) concert /contest pieces or encores. What are Calisthenics? You’ve all come across them in one form or another….mainly probably in caricatures of Victorian or Edwardian men in boldly striped sportswear lifting heavy weights or Victorian ladies elegantly waving their arms around(see photo) We found the idea of daily exercises in combination with utterly lovely tunes so intriguing that we decided to call our latest publication Calisthenics The music combines training of speed, thumb technique, interpretation. Short: another great fun and educational publication. The word calisthenics is derived from the Greek, kalos, beautiful; and sthenos, strength; the object of calisthenic exercises being to secure physical beauty by developing the limbs and muscles of the human frame, and making the joints flexible, thereby giving strength and power, and ensuring a graceful carriage, erect bearing, and freedom to the figure. In the words of the old Victorians: The highest refinement of that beauty is unattainable without splendour of activity and delicate strength. Exercise is now recognised to be as great a necessity in woman's education as in man's we are learning that many bodily defects and much of her weak health is attributable to the want of it; more especially in youth, when the frame is growing. Such exercises must, however, be carried out under a system; irregularly conducted, they do more harm than good. The constitution must be coaxed, not strained; the strength not unduly taxed, no over-fatigue ensuing; for exhaustion makes people look worn and old. The exertion must not be too violent, and the health and physical development of each pupil must be specially studied. Early morning or evening are the best times to select, but on no account immediately after a meal. The clothing should not be too warm, nor interfere in any way with the action of the limbs. A musical accompaniment will best preserve the necessary rhythm - the time, four or eight beats to a bar; failing this, the pupils should be taught to sing or count in concert, thereby keeping up their interest and zest. A castanet will, failing better means, help to mark the time with or without music. One of our aims is to revive these compositions and bring them to the attention of players and audiences.

Horn choir - Digital Download SKU: IZ.IMF1813 Composed by Daniel Baldwin. Score and Parts. 53 pages. Imagine Music - Digital #IMF1813. Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.IMF1813). 9 x 12 in inches. The Yosemite Firefall was a summer time event that began in 1872 and continued for almost a century, in which burning hot embers were spilled from the top of Glacier Point in Yosemite National Park to the valley 3,000 feet below. From a distance it appeared as a glowing waterfall. This exciting work for horn choir, premiered at the 2015 International Horn Symphosium in Los Angeles, is a musical representation of this event. You can hear the hot embers rushing toward the cliff and then fall. The inspiration behind this tour de force for horn choir, it is by turns lyrical, rhythmic, and dramatic rushing toward an energetic conclusion.

String Ensemble - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1039005 Composed by Pierre Phalèse Jnr. Arranged by Colin Kirkpatrick. Renaissance. Score and parts. 17 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #644005. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.1039005). These two dances are taken from a collection entitled Recueil de danseries, contenant presque toutes sortes de danses (“Collection of dances, containing almost every kind of danceâ€) published in Antwerp in 1583 by Pierre Phalèse Jnr (c.1545-1629). He was continuing the work of his father Pierre Phalèse the Elder (1510-1575) the most important publisher in the Low Countries during the 16th century. The piece known as Schiarazula Marazula appears towards the end of the collection and is rather a curious addition because it evokes the sound of street music rather than that of the court. However, it was an immensely popular dance during the 16th century and possibly written by Giorgio Mainerio, an Italian musician and composer. This music was meant for dancing and entertainment and musicians would often combine several dances to make a more substantial piece. In this arrangement, Schiarazula Marazula is paired with Ballo Anglese which appears near the beginning of the original publication. The music would have been played by any instruments that happened to be available. The dances still retain their freshness and charm today and are sure to be popular at any concerts, public recitals or end-of-semester events. This arrangement is for virtually any string ensemble and the single PDF file includes a full score and parts for violin 1, violin 2, viola (violin 3), cello and bass (combined), keyboard and simple percussion. Two additional melody part are provided in the treble and bass clefs and the chords (for optional guitar) are shown in both keyboard and cello-bass parts. In the spirit of the original publication, you can add to the melody line any other C-pitch instruments that happen to be available. Even the additional of a couple of recorders will enhance the sound. Alternatively, you can do opposite and create a pleasing contrast by omitting various instruments for certain sections. The audio demo will give you an idea how this might be achieved. The keyboard part is intended as a guide and when possible, the keyboard player should feel free to improvise around the part and the chords shown. A digital or acoustic harpsichord sounds more authentic than a piano. Most electronic keyboards have a harpsichord option. The optional percussion instruments used are similar to those found in elementary school music rooms and usually include a tambour or hand-held drum, antique (finger) cymbals, wood-blocks and tambourine. Two or three players can be used (but feel free to add more) and the parts can be interpreted quite freely. Dance music is intended to be fun, and we hope that this arrangement brings you just that.

Easy Piano - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.553074 Composed by Scott Camp. Halloween,Instructional,Standards. Score. 2 pages. Scott Camp #3239017. Published by Scott Camp (A0.553074). 2nd and 3rd year piano students get to have fun with Halloween music, and prepare to play classical repertoire. This piece introduces techniques used by Dmitri Kabelevsky in his well-known Toccatina. Kabelevsky's Toccatina exploits 1st inversion triads, and this piece creates the perfect opportunity to introduce the concept of triads and triad inversions. As a teacher, I propose that successful performance of triad inversions is likely the difference between students who will succeed and those who won't. These individual songs are also available in collections:Best Halloween Piano Collection for First Year StudentsBest Halloween Piano Collection for Second (and 3rd) Year StudentsBest Halloween Piano Collection COMPLETE for First, Second (and 3rd) Year Students Traditional piano pedagogy allows the possibility of playing the correct notes, but with incorrect fingering. The best piano teachers have never allowed this, but in many cases, so much time is wasted discussing and fixing these problems that all enthusiasm and momentum is lost for the student. What's needed is a new symbol that communicates clearly and immediately to the student what is being demanded by the music: not just notes, but also fingering. Elementary students who grow with the V system of hand positions move more quickly through their repertoire, because they don't waste as much time fixing problems, or worse, arguing with their teachers about why an awkward fingering is not allowed, even when they have correctly figured out the correct notes.     .

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1303796 Composed by Joshua Bickford. 21st Century,Classical,Folk. Score. 10 pages. Joshua Bickford #893330. Published by Joshua Bickford (A0.1303796). A piano sonata for Fall based on an ancient melody.  Two of the movements are connected to the ocean and the coast. I consider them to be fallish because one of them is a lament.  The other one is about the bones of the earth (the rocky coast.) The third movement is about the play of light through barren tree branches.  It is called The Haunted Sonata because the melody that the sonata is based is practically invisible. It is there, but it is just like a ghost, you hear it out of the corner of your eye.

Small Ensemble Timpani,Trombone,Trumpet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.977354 By Foster & Allen. By Burt Bacharach and Hal David. Arranged by Des McNutty. Contemporary. Score and parts. 20 pages. Des Press #6438147. Published by Des Press (A0.977354). Part of the series: A Pulchritudinous Posy of Pleasing Party-PiecesA few fancies for five-part natural trumpet ensemble with optional timpani. Plus three trombones. At last: Some new repertoire for the historical natural trumpet! This one-handed instrument was familiar to composers such as JS Bach, Handel, Telemann, Purcell, Vivaldi etc., but was largely neglected after the invention of valves in the early 19th century - and the subsequent invention of the nodal vent-hole systems in the late 20th-century - until recently, when the elusive lost art of clarino playing (in the fourth octave and above) was cracked by dedicated optimists such as Don L Smithers and JF Madeuf. These arrangements are a stylistic departure from the trumpet's golden age of Baroque repertoire, featuring works well known in the 20th century, and provide excellent training for rhythmic precision, style, pitching and team playing. They're also fun, if you like that sort of thing. Advice on tuning up the differently-pitched instruments and a technical tip are included. The current regulations on SMP mean us little guys can only publish in-copyright works one at a time. So, you can collect them all and make yourself a tome!  These arrangements were originally written for Lunchtime Tower Music (weather permitting), at the Dartington International Summer School between roughly 2000 and 2010, for courses led by Michael Laird and David Staff. Such performances from the mediæval clock tower involved the various brass and other wind classes playing seriously with an informal atmosphere. Logistical issues, a narrow staircase and the ubiquitous Health-and-Safety regulations prevented the use of timpani on the tower but sometimes larger groups, and those involving vertigo sufferers, played in the courtyard instead. These pieces are the opposite of playing Baroque music on modern, or postmodern instruments. Get them all now and enjoy a refreshing change!

Published by Wold Meridian (A0.1440285). Renaissance Dance music provides some of the most simple yet satisfying pieces to play in ensemble on a wide range of instruments.  They are suitable for recorders, modern strings, woodwinds or brass, or where available, reproductions of 16th century instruments, such as crumhorns, viols or shawms to name but a few. Also appearing in the publication Chording to the Consort,  this individual piece is presented in full score and with separate parts for each of the lines.  Wold Meridian editions of these pieces have been created to make performing them as accessible as possible.  Chords have been provided so that the piece can be performed with just the melody line and a simple accompaniment.  Each piece can be heard in a video on YouTube with illustrations and historical background information.  Even more helpful for players who are less experienced in reading harmony lines, there is a YouTube video link featuring each part, where it is heard initially on its own with the chords, on repeats with the melody line added and finally together with all the parts in the whole ensemble.  If you have not had the pleasure of playing in consort with other people, you could not do better than start with these Wold Meridian editions. You can hear the piece in a linked YouTube video at   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VipjPuu4WToAs a help for players who are not so familiar with playing harmony and inner linesLine 2  is featured at   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmxAjTG-nHsLine 3 is featured at  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQUtXtn5SWILine 4 is featured at  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNLFDyE7xv0Line 5 is featured at  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxTp5wPC2Qw
