Flute Duet Flute - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.757372 By A. Copland, Judy Collins. By Shaker Hymn Hymn. Arranged by Dennis Ruello. Celtic,Easter,Irish,Praise & Worship. Score. 4 pages. Chicory Music #365102. Published by Chicory Music (A0.757372). 'Simple Gifts' was a dancing song. The Shakers called it a quick dance. There are words in the song about bowing and bending and turning, and the Shakers actually did that as they sang those words. The song was both an instruction for dancing as well as an instruction for life. The song was limited to the Shakers until Copland popularized the melody in his 1944 ballet score, Appalachian Spring. In the 1960s, Carter's hymn carried the tune into churches. It wasn't until 1970 that folk singer Judy Collins resurrected the original words of Simple Gifts and performed it nationwide.

Piano Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1277927 Composed by Terry Gilkyson. Arranged by Thomas Gunther. Comedy,Film/TV,Jazz. Score. 2 pages. Thomas Gunther Music Productions #869433. Published by Thomas Gunther Music Productions (A0.1277927). About the arrangement(See also (PopJazzKeys.com/The-Bare-Necessities)This is a relatively easy to play solo piano jazz arrangement of THE BAR NECESSITIES. The song is a traditional jazz tune made famous in the Walt Disney movie THE JUNGLE BOOK. The video and audio recording I posted here features me playing the short version of my arrangement. When played as written (with all the repeats) it is almost 4 minutes long. What's cool about this arrangement is that you can easily add a bass player and even an entire rhythm section while playing it the same way as you would in a solo performance!Who this arrangement is best suited forI think everyone who likes the song except perhaps advanced jazz pianists will have fun learning and playing this arrangement. I arranged this piece originally with my younger piano students in mind, who have smaller hands than most adults. That’s why there are no large intervals or big jumps in the left hand. Something generally found in ragtime and early jazz piano styles. This means that my arrangement is perfectly suited for pianists with smaller hands. Of course pianists with large hands (like myself) can play it too (ha-ha!).I think it is also a great piece for pianists who want to familiarize themselves with playing jazz piano. And since I wrote out every note and articulation, they can play along with the recording and hopefully pick up the traditional jazz feel along the way.Although the arrangement is not very difficult, it poses several challenges for the inexperienced pianist, as explained later. How I arranged itAs I already explained above, there are no large intervals or big jumps in the left hand to be found. Instead, I focused more on polyphonic arranging techniques, in both hands. I also used guide tones and inversions. The left hand imitates the accompaniment style of a traditional jazz guitar or banjo player with added half time bass figures that are typically played by a tuba or upright bass an octave lower. Tips for how to learn this arrangementWhen I teach this song to my students I strongly recommend to them to listen to the original version and my recording a lot, rather than explaining to them how swinging eighth notes and jazz articulation work. By the way, there are a few bars where you hear me playing straight eighths on the recording (as indicated in the sheet music). I decided to add articulations so that pianists who have not a lot of experience with playing jazz will find it easier to play it with the appropriate “touchâ€. It's a good idea to check those out.Should you not be familiar with playing polyphonic passages with one hand, you might want to practice very slowly at first and attempt to balance the different voices appropriately. Listening to the recording will also help with discovering dynamic possibilities. I didn’t want to clutter up the sheet music with dynamic markings, so listening to the recording is really the only way to figure out what dynamics I had in mind.

Full Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.921201 Composed by Carl Van Pevenage. Classical,Folk,Romantic Period,World. Score and parts. 25 pages. Carl Van Pevenage #4325959. Published by Carl Van Pevenage (A0.921201). The chansonnettes are easy songs of different styles (folk, classical, pop, romantic, Christmas carols, etc). They are arranged for Recorder or String Quartets, but can easily be arranged for any group of players. This is an example of what can be done with the songs. It's an arrangement of Chansonnette 141 for orchestra. The sounds are still computer generated. Playing it, will bring the music to live. This song is variation on the old song Pastime with good company (almost identical but not minor), known also as The ballad of the king as it was written King Henry V. So this is about pastime with a good cake in the kitchen.

Solo Guitar - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1015945 By Carolina Gaitan, Mauro Castillo, Adassa, Rhenzy. By Lin-Manuel Miranda. Arranged by Kevin Wallace (Rossendale Guitar). Contemporary. Individual part. 37 pages. Rossendale Guitar #6711035. Published by Rossendale Guitar (A0.1015945). This is a fantastically fun arrangement of We dont talk about Bruno from the film Encanto. I have arranged it for 4 classical guitars and a bass but it would work equally with a mix of acoustic and classical. Due to the timing involved and quite high positions it does not suit beginners but would be great fun  for an intermediate level ensemble. This song seems to appeal to both young and old alike. I have been nearly deafened by classes of 8 year olds screaming the words at me and had some brilliant sessions with adults playing too.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1194118 Composed by Colin Eatock. A Cappella,Classical,Contemporary,Early Music,Renaissance. Octavo. 58 pages. Colin Eatock Music #793552. Published by Colin Eatock Music (A0.1194118). Four movements; a cappella SATB choir or quartet; ca. 9 min.The composer writes: I almost titled this work “Four Elizabethan Love Songs.†However, while such a title might be appropriate for a group of songs about the joys of loving relationships, the texts I have chosen do not all fit that mould. Of the four, only Christopher Marlowe’s seductive “The Passionate Shepherd to His Love†and Shakespeare’s wise and insightful Sonnet 116 address requited love. On the other hand, John Donne’s “The Message†is a “hate-songâ€, an angry poem about love gone wrong, bursting with bitter recriminations. And Elizabeth I’s “When I Was Fair and Young,†is wistful and full of regret: the Queen realizes that her own youthful pride has obstructed her opportunities for happiness. Together, these poems offer four dramatically contrasting views about love.

Woodwind Ensemble Clarinet - Digital Download SKU: A0.813826 Composed by Antonin Dvorak. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Contemporary,Folk,Romantic Period,Standards. 18 pages. Regis Bookshar #6533907. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813826). Largo (from Symphony No. 9 in E minor) (From the New World) (Db) (Clarinet Quintet) - Intermediate - Digital Download. This marvelous arrangement of the Largo, based on the second movement of Antonin Dvorak's Symphony No. 9 in E minor, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts, recitals and church services, especially Funerals, but would be appropriate any time during the church year. This arrangement is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (18 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from the The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time.Symphony No. 9 in E minor, Op. 95 (subtitled From the New World and popularly know as the New World Symphony), was composed by Antonin Dvorak in 1893 while he was the director of the National Conservatory of Music of America from 1892 to 1895. It premiered at Carnegie Hall in New York City on December 16, 1893 and has been described as one of the most popular of all symphonies. The second movement of the symphony, upon which this arrangement is based, is marked Largo, and begins with a harmonic progression of chords which is then followed by a solo instrument playing the famous main theme.Dvorak was interested in Native American music and the African-American spirituals he heard in North America. While director of the National Conservatory he encountered an African-American student, Harry T. Burleigh, who sang traditional spirituals to him. Burleigh, later a composer himself, said that Dvorak had absorbed their spirit before writing his own melodies. Dvorak stated:    I am convinced that the future music of this country must be founded on what are called Negro melodies. These can be the foundation of a serious and original school of composition to be developed in the United States. These beautiful and varied themes are the product of the soil. They are folk songs of America and your composers must turn to them.He further explained how Native American music influenced his symphony:  I have not actually used any of these (Native American) melodies. I have simply written original themes embodying the peculiarities of the Indian music, and, using these themes as subjects, have developed them with all the resources of modern rhythms, counterpoint, and orchestral colour. In 1893, a newspaper interview quoted Dvorak as saying, I found that the music of the negroes and of the Indians was practically identical, and that the music of the two races bore a remarkable similarity to the music of Scotland. Most historians agree that Dvorak is referring to the pentatonic scale, which is typical of each of these musical traditions.Dvorak was influenced not only by music he heard, but also by what he had seen, in America. He wrote that he would not have composed his American pieces as he had if he had not seen America. It has been said that Dvorak was inspired by the wide open spaces of America, such as the prairies he may have seen on his trip to Iowa in the summer of 1893. Notices about several performances of the symphony include the phrase wide open spaces about what inspired the symphony and/or about the feelings it conveys to listeners. The theme from the Largo was adapted into the spiritual Goin' Home (often mistakenly considered a folk song or traditional spiritual) by Dvorak's pupil, William Arms Fisher, who wrote the lyrics in 1922. Regis Bookshar thought it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could have the opportunity to play this beautiful melody, so, in addition to this version for a Clarinet Quintet, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection which are readily available for a wide variety of instrumenta.
