SKU: A0.784838

Composed by McCorkle, Dennis F. Broadway,Christian,Jewish,Musical/Show,Rock. 28 pages. DF McCorkle Music and eBook Publications #11767. Published by DF McCorkle Music and eBook Publications (A0.784838).

CUT FROM SHOW: I Can See. The King, by Dennis McCorkle, is a contemporary pop-rock musical of the first two kings of Israel, Saul ben Kish and David ben Jesse and explores the contrasting lives and outcome of each man’s choices in life. [1 Samuel 28:7-18 - Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and inquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at Endor. And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and he went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, I pray thee, divine unto me by the familiar spirit, and bring me him up, whom I shall name unto thee. And the woman said unto him, Behold, thou knowest what Saul hath done, how he hath cut off those that have familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land: wherefore then layest thou a snare for my life, to cause me to die? And Saul sware to her by Yahweh, saying, As Yahweh liveth, there shall no punishment happen to thee for this thing. Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring up unto thee? And he said, Bring me up Samuel. And when the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice: and the woman spake to Saul, saying, Why hast thou deceived me? for thou art Saul. And the king said unto her, Be not afraid: for what sawest thou? And the woman said unto Saul, I saw gods ascending out of the earth. And he said unto her, What form is he of? And she said, An old man cometh up; and he is covered with a mantle. And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground, and bowed himself. And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do. Then said Samuel, Wherefore then dost thou ask of me, seeing Yahweh is departed from thee, and is become thine enemy? And Yahweh hath done to him, as he spake by me: for Yahweh hath rent the kingdom out of thine hand, and given it to thy neighbor, even to David: Because thou obeyedst not the voice of Yahweh, nor executedst his fierce wrath upon Amalek, therefore hath Yahweh done this thing unto thee this day. Also included with your order is our new 20 page catalog of over 150 titles at no additional charge.

By Rascal Flatts. By Kim Gannon and Walter Kent. Arranged by Michael Pilley. Jazz. Octavo. 9 pages. Michael Pilley Music #4849749. Published by Michael Pilley Music (A0.746225).

One of the most loved Christmas tunes made famous by the ultimate crooner, Bing Crosby, I'll Be Home For Christmas resonates with me every year as I have been living in the UK since 2012. It speaks of the desire to return home for the special time of year to share in the celebration with family and friends. But in a small twist, the last line of the song is if only in my dreams, leaving us to consider those around the world who are displaced from their loved ones.

This arrangement is in a simple ballad style and features the melody in the soprano and tenor voices. The harmony is chromatic in parts, but with good voice leading to assist with the learning of this jazz-infused tune. The bass part mainly anchors down the harmony, with a dm consonant aiming to recreate a jazz double bass sound. Soft consonants and sweet do sounds will ensure a smooth ballad style. Ranges are within a standard choir set, so this should be performable by most community choirs with basic reading ability.

Beautifully laid out in A4 size, the score and parts are easy to read and available NOW for digital download. We suggest you print on 80gsm paper, to ensure that the copies last longer in your bands library. If you're printing on letter size paper, please fit to page when sending to the printer.

The musical film of the same name, Singin' in the Rain (1952), was suggested by the song. The performance by Gene Kelly dancing through puddles in a rainstorm garnered the song the third spot on the American Film Institute ranking of 100 Years...100 Songs. The song was incorporated by Michael Kamen into his score for the 1988 film Die Hard, where it is most closely associated with the character of Theo. Diana Krall included it on her 2020 album This Dream of You.

Composed by David Warin Solomons. Contemporary. Score. 33 pages. David Warin Solomons #44013. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.576016).

This is a suite of 5 organ pieces composed by David W Solomons originally performed by David Carlston Williams on 17 August 2014 on the organ of St Paul's Springfield Road, Sale (Cheshire, UK) Registrations are as suggested by the performer. (the sound sample is a recording of Passacaglia from the subsequent CD recording performed by David Carlston WIlliams in June 2015) The suggested order for this suite is: 1. Passacaglia: based on an ostinato passage in 3 time. The idea behind the passacaglia relates to the origin of the word, it is basically a gentle stroll down the street (pasar la calle in Spanish, which was converted into Passacaglia in Italian) 2. Dorina: a descriptive piece in Dorian mode based on a song about a cat, from the aptly named village of Chattevoix, who stalks, but never catches, a little bird. 3. Playtime: also about a cat, the composer's own cat who is playful and rushes around the house but occasionally stopping to pummel the soft furnishings. 4. Early Evening in Camden Town: a more serious and sad piece - in 3-3-2 time. It is an evocation of the poor folk in Camden and their dreams of what could be, if only….. It was originally a song, which the composer wrote when he was living in London, based on a poem by fellow Londoner Sandra Erös The streets are part of a toy town, waiting to be played with…. 5. The Bishop's Dance: a curious and comical piece in 11 time (3, 3, 3, 2). It comes from the legend of Robin Hood, in which Robin meets the bishop of Hereford, who had hoped to get the better of him, but Robin prevails and forces him to dance. The clumsy attempts of the ungainly Bishop to obey Robin's commands cause great merriment among the merry men To quote our vicar, Rev Barbara, after the recital For me music paints a picture, and, for that, I have got this picture of someone going for a stroll in their village and then they came across a very old cat wandering down the street imaging it could catch birds but never catching them. And then it would lie down for a sleep and dream of the days when it was a kitten.... It was a very reflective programme and turns our mind about What for the Autumn, what do we need to do next.. it really did fit in with the mood of the year, as we turn towards building up the programme for next year... So thank you, it gave us time to reflect in a very beautiful manner.... The suite is also available as separate pieces (with performances by David Carlston Williams).

Composed by Britt Andrew Burns. Contemporary,Halloween. Individual part. 25 pages. Indie Classical Publications #41347. Published by Indie Classical Publications (A0.971794).

THE MANSION was composed in 2011. The inspiration for the work came from a reoccurring dream (or nightmare) I would have about being lost in a large, haunted mansion. The mansion would be abandoned, yet would be full of unexpected noises and surprises around every corner. Because of this, the music is intended to sound a little haunting, yet adventurous at the same time, because both of these emotions were strong in the dreams. I no longer have this reoccurring dream, and I have never come to understand why I used to have this dream. I have been a student of the guitar for over 18 years, and I wanted to write a concerto-like work for the nylon string guitar and orchestra. Because an orchestra can be overpowering to the acoustic guitar, I have suggested that the guitarist use an acoustic guitar amplifier. The volume can be adjusted to the performers discretion, but the guitar needs to always be heard. Although the work is also technically challenging, I tried to write something that would still be accessible for the audience. Almost all of the thematic material comes from a simple 5-note motive that can be heard at the beginning of the piece in the piano and guitar. This work does not follow a specific form, although many of the sections do repeat. Originally for guitar and orchestra, this arrangement is for guitar and piano.

Composed by Aaron Fonzi. Christmas,Contemporary,Folk,Standards. Score and parts. 25 pages. Aaron Fonzi #4834971. Published by Aaron Fonzi (A0.998359).

This lyrical piece is a delightful way to introduce your young band to ballad style. Exploring slurs, accents, dynamics, caesuras, ritardandos and more, you'll be shocked by how sophisticated this beautiful piece sounds while using only a limited number of notes.

Written to convey the playful innocence of a child dreaming, In Your Slumber balances the calm of a starry sky with the imagination and adventure of a child's mind at rest. Simple and elegant, the lullaby played by the flutes in the beginning gives way to an imaginative variation on the theme by the trumpets and clarinets at B. Gentle, pulsating tenutos in the harmonizing chords underneath are symbolic of relaxed, rhythmic breathing underlying the musical thoughts flowing by above them. Just as in dreams we seldom have control of which direction the story may go, D takes us somewhere else musically and implies a build to a false climax. At E, we are greeted with the quiet sounds of the night once more, but this time our imagination runs wild as the music builds to the climax of the piece at F. This powerful proclamation of the melody is concluded with a gentle final statement in the flute and clarinet, and the piece concludes with the final twinkle of the stars as the sun rises for a new day.

Full of imagination, beauty and teachable moments throughout, I hope that you and your students can enjoy and appreciate this piece for it's simple beauty as I do. Onward!

~Aaron Fonzi

REHEARSAL NOTES:

1. The clarinet part should be a very light drone creating atmosphere at the beginning- the same goes for the clarinet and saxophone at rehearsal E.

2. It's easy to get too loud too soon in this piece, so remind your students to have patience. F is the climax of the piece, but many young students will want to play C as if it is. Similarly, be sure to balance the trumpet/ clarinet and the flute/ oboe/ bells at C so both lines come out evenly.

3. Take your time in measure 48- we want to naturally fade away and pause before going on at rehearsal E. This increase and decrease in energy is a characterization of the ebb and flow of the piece.

4. At F, there are 3 important parts that must be balanced: flute/oboe/bells; trumpet/clarinet; alto saxophone/horn. For best results, balance these 3 parts, and encourage the alto/horn line to play out a bit more than they think they need to. They are the new part which must be heard here.

5. Have fun and use your imagination in terms of expressing the music- ask your students what it makes them think of and create a story to go along with it. Let this ultimately guide your interpretation. I am consistently impressed with the creative ideas my students come up with, so let them decide how the music should sound with their own stories. In your slumber, anything is possible!

The alchemist

Flames in the dark sparkle

voice whispering echoes

They say about you

Sell useless dreams

they say about me that I’m too much frail

You are shutting down the day of this city

the lights switch on of different realities

and time dilates , begins another life

It is tacit ritual of a sad tribes

You firefly who shine

can you tell me where he is?

I seek the alchemist , you see yourself

from my eyes rimmed

on the nothing  wide open

they are full of fears and resemble your

And here it is your circus , you wait me already

not much has changed from a lifetime ago

you do not, you are not aged

a Peter Pan sick , who deduct his sins in the lives of others

clown you always have so many , acrobats tired

poised always between dream and reality

and as a cat, I also see in the dark

and over the waste to me slowly and then die

the crises, then anxiety , that imperfect woman

I do not stand me  anymore

I who have never been a daughter , your promise of another family

and this need for love, that torture and kill me

While you brush my long hair , from your hands give off crystals

bright lights exploding inside

as if by magic now I belong to you

snakes tattooed lean on your hips

we float in the sea of time

how does I exist? always or yesterday

I do not remember but only mysteries

You adult  man and I young girl

abracadabra, as all before

I tired and old and you still a child

us travelers in a bogus time

and while I explore the emptiness I have inside

Nothing is sweeter than this torment

You prepare the potion , the right proportion , the antidote and poison

but you put more passion , My animal instinct

and add a little 'of gall for those who have hurt me

Mix all right , only you know what to do

you seals good my heart , can not serve me

evil plots to good , with fumes and vapors , ampoules almost full ,please ... let me drink ...

But you can not , and I stay here , prisoner of your invisible world

We like vampires , breath broken by sighs , arms forward, off eyes

alchemist turn off my complaints

You like a zombie , ready to sink your teeth ,that fascinates me and scares

alchemist dissolve my torments ..

but you can not .. and I stay here

I'm looking for the courage to live

It is being born on the day of this city

Milano  colored yourself with its activities

shorten the shadows , the sun shines and a veil hiding now all his vices

and my pace is tired , my face a bit 'more haggard  ,emptiness inside me and where are you?

I run always and do not know where I go

I look back , I stumble and then I fall

Slow walk among the tired souls

alive but in a state of apparent death

rips in the soul and on my clothes

I have no tattoos, scars only

and as the salt do  on the wounds

I burn at the memory of bad choices

Iron bars are closed . echoes of voices  deafen

They say about you that you no longer have a tear

they say about me that I’m free woman ...
