B-Flat Trumpet,Piano - Level 1 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.1080679

Composed by Alex Lewis and Eddie Lewis. Classical,Multicultural,World. Score and part. 9 pages. Tiger Music #684898. Published by Tiger Music (A0.1080679).

Southwest Sunrise Trumpet Solo Eddie Lewis and Alex Lewis MTR P111 4137 Southwest Sunrise is a trumpet solo for beginner trumpet students that has a more complicated piano part. I often get requests for music for students of different skill levels. And in fact, that’s what of my strengths as a writer, is that I can blend parts across skill levels that way. In this case, Alex and I were striving for something that would be interesting for the pianist, but not overly challenging for the beginner trumpet student. The Process The inspiration for this piece came to me on a morning walk in Chandler, Arizona. Chandler is a suburb of Phoenix. I was walking east, into the rising sun. It was a very simple melody. It was a very simple blues melody that I immediately recognized as something that would work in our series for beginner trumpet students. This was during a time when my son, Alex, and I were already collaborating on some other projects. For this piece, I gave Alex the melody and gave him a general description of what I was hearing. Then I gave him his space to create what sounded good to him. The next stage was me editing some of his creativity. At this point we went back and forth on a few issues until we agreed on the final results. SKILL LEVEL The skill level for Southwest Sunrise is Trumpet Pioneer (we don’t have skill levels for piano parts yet on this website). Trumpet Pioner is the first of seven levels in our system. These are absolute beginners who have only been playing the trumpet for a few months. Our Trumpet Pioneer level limits the range to C in the staff. We also limit rhythms to nothing smaller than quarter-notes, and key signatures are limited to one flat or sharp. Practice Recommendations While it is obvious and I don’t normally list it as a point in this practice recommendations, but the rhythms are very different between the trumpet part and the trumpet part. So it is even MORE important to spend time listening to the composition long before you begin practicing it. As I said, this is a good habit for working on all performance pieces. There is research that proves that students learn their music best when they recognize their mistakes soonest. When you listen to the music repeatedly before you practice, it goes a long way towards helping you recognize your mistakes. This is one of the most important reasons for listening, but there are others that I won’t go into here. Assuming the pianist is far more advanced than the trumpeter, the pianist should assume a patient, educational role.

SKU: A0.1163847

Composed by Traditional/Anonymous. Arranged by Socrates Arvanitakis. Classical,Early Music,Folk,Traditional. Individual part. 46 pages. Socrates Arvanitakis #764199. Published by Socrates Arvanitakis (A0.1163847).

This is the twenty-ninth volume of an extensive collection of folk songs arranged for the classical guitar mostly in two-part counterpoint. The arrangements are of moderate difficulty and the aims of this publication are to familiarise, entertain and educate guitarists (and other musicians) with a melodic repertoire of lasting aesthetic value, under the light of contrapuntal treatment. The thirty five volumes of this collection can certainly be printed on paper if so desired and there are a few pages in each volume, either blank or with photographs of various musicians, which can be inserted at will in any place for the correct ordering of left and right hand pages so that page turns can be avoided. The principle of avoiding page turns has been maintained in all  volumes, but this edition is also designed with mobile electronic devices in mind such as tablets etc, using the environment and facilities of a score reading application, towards a paperless world, at least in music. Therefore the size of the staves is bigger than usual for ease of reading on a small screen but not big enough to exceed the limit of a two-page view.
Active internal links for navigating from thematic indexes to particular songs and back to indexes have been added, and also external internet links to sites that give further information for the 945 songs of this first collection for classical guitar.

SKU: A0.1502478

Composed by Cecil Frances Alexander. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. 19th Century,Chamber,Christmas,Historic,Traditional. 16 pages. Jmsgu3 #1078262. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1502478).

Once in Royal David's City is an essential and beloved Christmas carol for several reasons:

Historical significance:
The hymn was written in 1848 by Cecil Frances Alexander as part of a collection called Hymns for Little Children.

The traditional opening of a famous service:
Since 1919, this carol has been prominent as the opening processional hymn for the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, held on Christmas Eve at King's College Chapel, Cambridge. The BBC World Service and American Public Media broadcast this service worldwide, giving the hymn global exposure.

Unique performance tradition:
At King's College, the first verse is traditionally sung as a solo by a boy chorister, chosen by the choirmaster just moments before the service begins. This adds an element of anticipation and showcases young talent.

Theological content:
The hymn tells the story of Christ's birth and childhood, emphasizing His divinity and humanity. It connects the nativity story to broader Christian theology, making it both a narrative and a teaching tool.

Musical qualities: The tune IRBY, composed by Henry John Gauntlett, is widely regarded as beautiful and memorable. Despite its relative simplicity, it has been praised for its intimate scale and inspired melody.

Widespread use:
Beyond its famous use at King's College, the hymn has become popular in churches of various denominations worldwide, especially during Christmas services.

Cultural impact: The hymn has become deeply associated with Christmas in many English-speaking countries, evoking nostalgia and religious sentiment for many listeners. In essence, Once in Royal David's City is essential not just for its content but for its role in Christmas traditions, its educational value, and its ability to connect people to the holiday's religious aspects through music.

SKU: A0.1034046

Composed by Angela Salvaggione. Classical. 24 pages. Angela Salvaggione #639373. Published by Angela Salvaggione (A0.1034046).

This set of four short pieces consists of one movement for each of the year’s seasons: 1. Springtime Swing 2. Hummingbirds 3. Ghost Story 4. Toboggans Suitable for high school groups, only the first part uses any tenor clef, and goes up to a high Bb. Each part has melodic interest. Springtime Swing is just a happy, bouncy tune in rondo form. Hummingbirds has all three parts flitting about, darting here and there. Ghost Story should be played as spookily as you can. Toboggans is a race down a steep, snow-covered slope. Hold on tight! Total playing time ca. 5 minues.

SKU: A0.844495

Composed by Robert Schumann. Arranged by Phil Beaman. Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards. 6 pages. Phil Beaman #3452983. Published by Phil Beaman (A0.844495).

In 1849 Robert Schumann completed a set of Romantic character pieces for piano which he named Forest Scenes. One of that set was called Roadside Inn, which I have arranged for Instrumental Trio. In keeping with the characteristics of the Romantic period my arrangement is full of contrasts and constant shifts between dynamics, articulations, and themes. There are interpretive marks in every measure as each part independently adds to the stunning polyphonic weaving. Not too difficult to play but sounds quite advanced when all details are observed. A great piece to show your musicianship as a group. To be played warmly and with passion to welcome people to your Roadside Inn.

Composed by Arthur J. Michaels. Fusion Series. Score. 19 pages. Imagine Music - Digital #CBS159-S. Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.CBS159-S).

9 x 12 in inches.

Tomorrow's Hopes and New Horizons is a grade 3 concert band piece that captures both the excitement and the
hesitancy of growing and taking on new challenges. The theme and variations suggest life's varied paths. Similarly,
throughout the piece the different harmonies of the main theme's phrase endings remind us of our wide-ranging
choices as we grow. The piece is meant to
be performed with full concert band. However, the arrangement's flexible scoring provides the most performing
opportunities for smaller ensembles of all sizes and configurations, as long as all four voices are included.
Furthermore, the arrangement's solo and soli passages provide varied sound textures in the context of this
flexible scoring. The piece's ample yet judiciously placed cues allow instrument combinations other than those
written. Directors may use discretion in assigning solo passages as solos, as section solis, or either as solos or
solis from cued parts. Tomorrow's Hopes and New Horizons provides excellent opportunities to teach lessons in balance, blending,
independence, intonation, and maintaining a steady tempo. This stirring work is suitable for any concert venue,
and it is sure to please players and audiences.

SKU: A0.1164828

By Judy Garland. By E.Y. Yip Harburg and Harold Arlen. Arranged by Thomas Gunther. Film/TV,Jazz,Standards. Score. 3 pages. Thomas Gunther Music Productions #765152. Published by Thomas Gunther Music Productions (A0.1164828).

This is my (Thomas Gunther’s) Solo Piano Arrangement of Over The Rainbow.
(Also see PopJazzKeys.com/Over-The-Rainbow).
I believe the arrangement is suited for intermediate to advanced players. There are different technically demanding elements to it, from polyphony (which require great finger independence), to the techniques associated with the Romantic period (like the ability to work the sustain pedal, arpeggios, and playing thick chords).
The video below shows me performing it (with close-up of hands and sheet music), followed by important practice tips!)

WHO IS IT FOR?

I think classical and jazz pianists will both love it for different reasons.
Classical musicians might like to play something more contemporary with a jazzy touch.
And jazz musicians might like to studying it for inspiration, or to improve their sight reading and technical skills, or simply because they love it.

ABOUT THE SONG

Over The Rainbow is one of my favorite classic jazz standards. Most of you might know it from the classic movie The Wizard Of Oz, for which it was actually composed (and sung by Judy Garland).
I love everything about this song, it’s melody (which is so cleverly based on a descending diatonic stepwise motion during the [A] section), the harmony, and of course the lyrics that inspire us to believe there might actually be more to life than what we are experiencing day in and day out, well worth dreaming about and searching for.

ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF LYRICS

To me it is important to study the lyrics of a song before I start arranging it. The lyrics guide me in my search for how I want the arrangement to impact the listener emotionally.
