This is my version of La Vie En Rose the classic French chanson. I take it through 3 keys - D, Eb and E major. I play it in a moderately upbeat stride piano style and elaborate a little on the melody.It's a lovely haunting melody with a nice chord structure. I include chord symbols which always help me to learn and remember tunes. I don't include fingering or dynamics which you would never get two piano teachers to agree on so I leave these up to the discretion of the individual pianist.Please note this is a piano solo only and I don't notate the other instruments on my youtube recording but I write all my music as piano solos so they sound perfect as such.

It features two players, each with a number of marching percussion (drumline) instruments in front of them. Both players use a snare drum and mounted cymbal while one player plays 5 tonal bass drums and the other plays the tenors (for 5 drums). It is for advanced high school or college level players, and is very entertaining to watch. It includes stick tricks and moves that are neat to see and do. A blend of hard bop and bossa nova, the tune was possibly influenced by Dorham's visit to the Rio de Janeiro Jazz Festival in 1961. The tune has since been recorded numerous times by different artists, making it a jazz standard.

It was written in 1945 with lyrics by Édith Piaf, and a melody composed by Louiguy (Luis Guglielmi).  The song became very popular in the US in 1950, with English lyrics (‘Take me to your heart again’) by David Mack, when seven recordings - made by Tony Martin, Paul Weston, Bing Crosby, Ralph Flanagan, Victor Young, Dean Martin, and Louis Armstrong - all reached the Billboard charts. The song has also been covered by many other artists over the years, including Bette Midler, Donna Summer and a 2018 version by Lady Gaga. This instrumental arrangement makes an excellent recital item or popular encore.
