Serenity and Dance has many interest for both teachers and student performers. There is a broad range of dynamics, expression, and ensemble balance required. The tight harmonies, changing meter, textures, melodic layering, and intensity are exciting for both conductor and performer. The piece utilizes a variety of percussion instruments (including vocalizations) and every wind/brass line is an important part of the overall performance. I also find that, despite its frequent meter changes, the composition has a catchy melody. Many of the student performers have told me that they’ve gone home after school singing the woodwind melody from the Dance portion (even brass and percussionists!).

How about a simple arrangement with flexible part assignments?JINGLE THOSE BELLS! is a super-easy setting of Jingle Bells. The work opens with the traditional unison rendition of the melody, as found in almost every beginner band method book ever written. But then, after a brief pause, the melody is repeated, but now faster and with the addition of a bass line and rhythmic accompaniment. The rhythmic accompaniment is provided by several of your best clarinet, sax, and trumpet players who play the Advanced Part. And if you are short on bass voice instruments, you can utilize the optional bass parts for Alto Sax. Super flexible and a bit humorous, it takes a little score study to realize how adaptable this piece is. Invocation The guitar introduces the evocative mood of the work, followed four measures later by the oboe, which with its characteristic sound, embraces the guitar into a conversation and at the same time into an invocation.  The second theme, atmospheric, echoing reveals a waiting status. The work is full of fast arpeggios and technical difficulties for both instruments. Gradually increases in dramatic tension and complexity and concludes with the initial idea. The finale is simple, subtractive, allows a feeling of an unfulfilled expectation. Duos for guitar and Oboe are rare and always a challenging task for the composer. That was the primary reason of mine when I started working on this work, to accomplish a match that is unique and wonderful at the same time. Most of my music since that time explores the uniqueness of instruments and their interaction.  Invocation was one of the first and its material used later by me in my First Guitar Concerto (Phygein Adynaton).  Invocation was premiered at the TSAI Performance Center in Boston, MA and it was a prize winner at the Finalists of the 1994 ALEA Composition Competition

As a teenager, I was definitely exposed to a fair amount of their music for some reason. It's not always easy to transform this kind of music into an idiom that sounds good as instrumental chamber music, however, this is part of my quest to develop a broad range of popular music that I can play live with a small group on the horn.This is great for university students and professionals... maybe even high school students. There are not a lot of great, challenging horn quartet arrangements out there, like this one is. This arrangement helps fill a niche for small ensemble in that horn quartet music typically lacks repertoire in most contemporary and rock genres. This one has a kit part included, which isn't necessary to perform this quartet, but might make it easier if a quartet to perform it with drums if they wanted to.The melody gets passed around a bit so it's fun and interesting for everyone. Score, parts and cover arts included. I've arranged it in a sort of Stride Piano style and the introduction owes a lot to Fats Waller and his famous waterfall technique. I don't include dynamics or fingering as no two piano teachers would agree on such things I prefer to leave these to the individual player. This is a really fun piece to play and is a tune of great nostalgic value for me. Also note this is a piano solo and doesn't include notation for the other instruments in my YouTube video but was written as a piano solo and sounds great as such.Hope you get as much fun out of playing it as I have.

Their part doubles the violin/viola parts in most places, but there’s a part near the middle where their part varies to add complexity to the counterpoint. 6.      The foundational violin, viola, cello, bass, guitar, and trumpet parts (normal sheet music) are in unison. They are a mixture of melody/harmonic writing and the bass parts. These parts should be played alongside 2 and 3 listed above.
