Acoustic Guitar,Instrumental Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1162569 Composed by Traditional/Anonymous. Arranged by Socrates Arvanitakis. Classical,Early Music,Folk,Traditional. Individual part. 43 pages. Socrates Arvanitakis #762940. Published by Socrates Arvanitakis (A0.1162569). This is the twenty-sixth volume of an extensive collection of folk songs arranged for the classical guitar mostly in two-part counterpoint. The arrangements are of moderate difficulty and the aims of this publication are to familiarise, entertain and educate guitarists (and other musicians) with a melodic repertoire of lasting aesthetic value, under the light of contrapuntal treatment. The thirty five volumes of this collection can certainly be printed on paper if so desired and there are a few pages in each volume, either blank or with photographs of various musicians, which can be inserted at will in any place for the correct ordering of left and right hand pages so that page turns can be avoided. The principle of avoiding page turns has been maintained in all  volumes, but this edition is also designed with mobile electronic devices in mind such as tablets etc, using the environment and facilities of a score reading application, towards a paperless world, at least in music. Therefore the size of the staves is bigger than usual for ease of reading on a small screen but not big enough to exceed the limit of a two-page view.Active internal links for navigating from thematic indexes to particular songs and back to indexes have been added, and also external internet links to sites that give further information for the 945 songs of this first collection for classical guitar.Volume 26 (Songs 676-702)Once a Farmer and His WifeOnce I Loved a LassOnce I Loved a maiden fairOne man went to mowOne More RibberOrientis PartibusOrphan Girl (the)Ould John BraddlumOur Captain cried All Hands 1Our Captain cried All Hands 2Our Captain cried All Hands 3The Outlandish KnightOwl (the)Oxen Ploughing (the)Paddy on the RailwayPainful Plough (the)Parson HoggPaul JonesPay Me My Money DownPeace O’er the WorldPeggy BondPenny Wager (the)Pine Tree (The)Piper o’ Dundee (the)Plains of Waterloo (the)Ploughboy’s GloryPoacher’s Song.

Instrumental Duet,Piccolo,Tuba - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1366758 By Earl Scruggs. By Arthur Smith. Arranged by Cascia Talbert. Comedy,Country,Film/TV,Folk. 10 pages. Cascia Talbert #951086. Published by Cascia Talbert (A0.1366758). Dueling Banjos is a bluegrass composition by Arthur Guitar Boogie Smith. The song was composed in 1954 by Smith as a banjo instrumental he called Feudin' Banjos; it contained riffs from Smith, recorded in 1955 playing a four-string plectrum banjo and accompanied by five-string bluegrass banjo player Don Reno. The composition's first wide-scale airing was on a 1963 television episode of The Andy Griffith Show called Briscoe Declares for Aunt Bee, in which it is played by visiting musical family the Darlings (portrayed by The Dillards, a bluegrass group), along with Griffith himself. The song was made famous by the 1972 film Deliverance, which also led to a successful lawsuit by the song's composer, as it was used in the film without Smith's permission. The film version was arranged and recorded by Eric Weissberg and Steve Mandell, but only credited to Weissberg on a single subsequently issued in December 1972. It went to second place for four weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1973, behind Roberta Flack's Killing Me Softly with His Song; it topped the adult contemporary chart for two weeks. It reached No. 1 for one week on both the Cashbox and Record World charts. It reached No. 5 on Hot Country Singles. It was nominated for the 30th Golden Globe Awards as Best Original Song. The success of the single led to an album of the same name released in January 1973.This instrumental makes use of the quoting of the first 12 notes of Yankee Doodle. This arrangement is for tuba and piccolo.

Large Ensemble Cello,Clarinet,Double Bass,Guitar,Soprano Saxophone,Viola,Violin - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.942105 Composed by Apostolos Paraskevas. 20th Century,Contemporary,World. Score and parts. 122 pages. Silver Sickle Publications #6332819. Published by Silver Sickle Publications (A0.942105). A Night with The Aristocrats (a concertante work of plucking, blowing and bowing)Versions for Clarinet/SopranoSax/Violin with Guitar and Strings The guitar part came inspirational first to me as one of my 24 Studies that I wrote few years ago.  For a while though I wondered if a melodic part should be added to this part and form eventually a duo.  A request from my dear colleague Corey Whitehead, for a duo plus strings led me to orchestrate it in this version. The work starts with a meditative introduction before the main part unfolds a dance idea between the two instruments and the string orchestra, almost humoresque which hands over a pensive thought in the soprano sax/clarinet/solo violin that repeats itself almost as an unanswered question. Could please anyone answers?  The Strings do play an important part in terms of balance and the one of an extra third corresponding force. My composition language is sometimes folklorist around my Greek heritage, sometimes around tonal centers, and sometimes simple within a few key notes, evolves around programmatic ideas that I get from every day living.  Apostolos Paraskevas

It has since been beaten senseless by just about every conceivable recording artist, from Doris Day to John Travolta. (Really!) In rendering it for brass quintet, I've attempted to cause no further damage. If you would like alternative instrumentation, I'm happy to accommodate. Contact me at wilcor@aol.com.

The song was originally entitled Never No Lament and was first recorded by Duke Ellington and his orchestra on May 4, 1940. Don't Get Around Much Anymore quickly became a hit after Bob Russell wrote its lyrics in 1942. Two different recordings of Don't Get Around Much Anymore, one by The Ink Spots and the 1940 instrumental by Ellington's own band, reached No. 1 on the R&B chart in the US in 1943. Both were top-ten pop records, along with a version by Glen Gray. The Duke Ellington version reached No. 8 on the pop chart. This arrangement includes the lyrics.
