Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1311786 By The Monkees. By John Stewart. Arranged by Martyn Clive Johnson (aka Martycli Piano Guy). 21st Century,Comedy,Contemporary,Pop,Ragtime. Score. 6 pages. Martyn Johnson #900732. Published by Martyn Johnson (A0.1311786). This piece should be played with a swing or bounce ie quavers/eighth notes should be played in a ratio of 3:2 to give it a shuffle. I've arranged it in a sort of Stride Piano style and the introduction owes a lot to Fats Waller and his famous waterfall technique. I don't include dynamics or fingering as no two piano teachers would agree on such things I prefer to leave these to the individual player. This is a really fun piece to play and is a tune of great nostalgic value for me. Also note this is a piano solo and doesn't include notation for the other instruments in my YouTube video but was written as a piano solo and sounds great as such.Hope you get as much fun out of playing it as I have.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.987080 Composed by Eric Paul Nolte. Contemporary. Score. 12 pages. Eric Paul Nolte #566749. Published by Eric Paul Nolte (A0.987080). This piece is one of an album of my contemporary classical compositions. Yes, I too wince at offering you something saddled with this oxymoron--contemporary classical--but this phrase is now an irresistible, commercially recognized category defying any principled protest from the ranks of wounded musicological curmudgeons like me.  The style here employs a tonal palette that celebrates the more or less common practice of composers from J. S. Bach to Ravel, Prokofiev, and the 20th century American songbook.  You will see that I reject Arnold Schoenberg's assertion that by 1910 tonality had exhausted itself, and needed to be reinvented according to an aesthetics that dismiss our scales and harmonies as purely arbitrary human conventions with no basis in nature. On the contrary, I believe that we are endowed by our nature to respond emotionally to our traditional materials of music in the same way as nature equips us to respond to the taste of food and drink. We differ in our taste for savory, sweet, and sour, but it is wrong to say that our very capacity to taste is a merely cultural convention. There is biology, and then physics too! By the same standard, it can't be true that one person's taste for arsenic is as valid as another's taste for beer or kumquats. The major triad is a force of nature, like the sun, wind, and rain! I also like big fat juicy 13 chords, and contrapuntal weaving of melody! I believe the purpose of music is to sway us emotionally, and if it can uplift us too, so much the better! While I am not ashamed to write a bare triad, unadorned by chromatic alterations (much less by clusters of chord collisions) I have nevertheless employed much complicated harmony. Moreover, some passages are written in a spiky harmony that might be analyzed as bitonal, as at the meno mosso section, beginning at measure 112, where the mood I wanted to set inspired me to write the theme in C minor while the left hand climbs up from the bottom of the keyboard in a widely spaced, D-flat 13 arpeggio.  I have composed these pieces with the skills of intermediate to early-advanced pianists in mind. This piece demands the ability to play some counterpoint between two voices in one hand. There is a section that requires one to play moderately fast octaves, but nothing as difficult as the G minor Prelude of Chopin (to say nothing of his harrowing octave Etude from Opus 25!) While there are many polyrhythmic passages, none is more complicated than two-against-three notes. All said, there is nothing here to make your hands (or, I dare say, your ears) bleed. The performing time is around nine minutes and a breath or three. I have a number of videos posted on YouTube.com, I have a website under construction, ericpaulnolte.com, and, since 2011, an occasional blog of my ravings on life, love, and the cosmos, at ericpaulnolte.blogspot.com. You may write me at nolte0125@gmail.com.

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.980449 Composed by Gary Noland. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary. Score. 39 pages. Freeland Publications #3246459. Published by Freeland Publications (A0.980449). Duration: ca. 15-20 minutes. Lush extended tonal language. Highly chromatic and contrapuntal. An innovative fugue unlike any other in the literature. This work was begun in 1981 and underwent revisions on and off for 28 years until it was finally completed in 2009. This piece is intended only for first-rate virtuoso pianists. Written comments: Gary, this is wonderful! I am a Bach freak ... clearly you are as well (meant as a big compliment smile emoticon ). Love the title too heart emoticon.-Kurt Werderman. Completely charming. I get the Liebes part, but the other half seems entirely too much tongue-in-cheek fun for Schmerz. smile emoticon You wrote a brilliant piece that sounds so spontaneous it is hard to believe it had such a long gestation period as 28 years.-Rodney Punt. Here is to me really deep music of very high quality. I listened three times. The fugue has the kind of complexity and positive ambiguity which awakens my curiosity to listen again and again. The episodes are for me personally something of the most beautiful modern music written for piano I remember just now.-Frank David. Brass Ensemble,Trombone Trio Trombone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.811132 Composed by Brian Pappal. Contemporary. Score and parts. 13 pages. Gordon Cherry #5316249. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.811132). Here is a description of the work IN MEMORIAM by composer Brian Pappal. In Memoriam: A Chorale After Bruckner was composed in memory of Murray Crewe, former Bass Trombonist with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Murray was my private trombone teacher at Duquesne University where he maintained a large studio of private trombone students and directed the trombone choir. During my lessons with him and in trombone choir rehearsals, Murray was contagiously positive and encouraging with a sense of humor all his own. He was also an artist of immense depth and sensitivity who daily sought to create and encounter moments of beauty in the world. Some of my greatest musical memories of Murray are of his leading the trombone choir in playing transcriptions of Brucknerâ??s choral motets. There are obvious parallels between the voice and the trombone, and Murrayâ??s artistry combined with Brucknerâ??s profound compositions created a deeply moving experience for me as a young musician. I wrote this piece with those memories in my mind. The sonorities are intentionally vocal, and performance of the piece should be approached in a similarly sustained and expressive style. The first trombone part remains rather high without rest; it may be played by either a tenor or alto trombone depending on player preference.

Piano,Voice Duet Piano,Voice - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.534403 Composed by Jacques Leguerney. 20th Century,Christian,Concert,Sacred,Standards. 15 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #3457407. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.534403). This is one of two duets that Leguerney wrote for Geneviève Touraine and her brother, the famous French baritone Gérard Souzay. It was completed on 21 January 1950. The first performance, with Souzay and Touraine, was 21 June 1950 in the Parisian Salle Gaveau with Jacqueline Robin (Bonneau) at the piano.  Previously unpublished, De l’abîme profond, was first recorded by soprano Danielle Borst and baritone Philippe Huttenlocher with Mary Dibbern at the piano. This was for the CD 50-9618, 28 Mélodies issued by Claves Records-Radio Suisse Romande: Espace 2 in 1996. The recording was recognized with the Grand Prix du Disque de l’Académie Charles Cros. The US premiere performance was by soprano Jill Pearon and baritone David Pittman-Jennings, accompanied by Mary Dibbern, during a recital at the Crane School of Music, SUNY-Potsdam, New York, 23 October 2007. The vocal range for the soprano line is C1-G#2 and for the baritone line is B-F1. The text’s poet, Jean de La Céppède (1550-1622), was born in Marseille and spent most of his life working as a lawyer and magistrate in Aix–en–Provence. His principal work, Théorèmes, consists of 515 sonnets dealing with the life of Jesus Christ and the “sacred mysteries of our redemption.†La Céppède’s poem is a translation of a psalm by David from the Old Testament of the Bible. Leguerney also set a psalm of David for medium voice and chamber orchestra, which was premiered by Gérard Souzay in 1954. This orchestral Psaume LXII de David is also published by Musik Fabrik. The French author Jean Roy, reviewing this duet in Le Monde de la Musique (January, 1997), wrote: “There is a grandeur and a dramatic sentiment that surpasses [a] work that one might dismiss as minor.†For a detailed discussion of the music and both a word-by-word English translation and International Phonetic Alphabet transcription of the French text, see The Songs of Jacques Leguerney: A Guide for Study and Performance by Mary Dibbern, Carol Kimball and Patrick Choukroun.
