Fl.pft. - Intermediate-Advanced - Digital Download SKU: F2.FM448 Composed by Geoff Warren. Flute and Piano. Score and part. 30 pages. Forton Music - Digital #FM448. Published by Forton Music - Digital (F2.FM448). ISBN 9790570483471.I wrote these pieces towards the end of summer 2014 at the request of various flautist colleagues who were telling me I should get back to writing for flute and piano. Five of the six pieces are dedicated to musician colleagues; all flautists except Walter the percussionist. The sixth is to myself, perhaps a portait of the artist as a young boy. These compositions, however, are not really meant to be portaits, just pieces dedicated to people I work with, and to some extent inspired by how I see them, so I have called them Sketches. The Sketches offer short expositions of themes which I hope will be enjoyable to play and to listen to. They offer some technical challenges for the flautist but are mostly in a 'medium difficulty' range, in attractive jazz/pop styles.

Snowball.Text:In the garden, Gethsemane, Jesus wept upon his knees.Sorrowing for humanity, Jesus suffered grief for me.Saving love, the purest love, spared mankind . . . new life to come.Only love, Christ’s perfect love, frees my soul with saving love!On the cruel cross of Calvary Jesus died for all to see.Calling out his whole-hearted plea, Jesus suffered pain for me.Saving love, the purest love, spared mankind . . . new life to come.Only love, Christ’s perfect love, frees my soul with saving love!Though his body inside a tomb laid three days, his Father knewChrist, his Son, would arise anew . . . Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.847962 By Simon And Garfunkel. By Traditional English Ballad. Arranged by Timothy Stapay. Baroque,Contest,Festival,Film/TV,Folk,Traditional. Score. 6 pages. Timothy Stapay #454662. Published by Timothy Stapay (A0.847962). Scarborough Fair is a traditional English ballad. A famous version was recorded by Simon and Garfunkel. The lyrics of Scarborough Fair appear to have something in common with a Scottish ballad titled The Elfin Knight (Child Ballad #2, collected by Francis James Child, which has been traced as far back as 1670. In this ballad, an elf threatens to abduct a young woman to be his lover unless she can perform an impossible task (For thou must shape a sark to me / Without any cut or heme, quoth he); she responds with a list of tasks that he must first perform (I have an aiker of good ley-land / Which lyeth low by yon sea-strand). Dozens of versions existed by the end of the 18th century. A number of older versions refer to locations other than Scarborough Fair, including Wittingham Fair, Cape Ann, twixt Berwik and Lyne, etc. Many versions do not mention a place name and are often generically titled (The Lovers' Tasks, My Father Gave Me an Acre of Land. The references to the traditional English fair, Scarborough Fair and the refrain parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme date to 19th-century versions, and the refrain may have been borrowed from the ballad Riddles Wisely Expounded, which has a similar plot. O, where are you going? To Scarborough fair, Savoury sage, rosemary, and thyme; Remember me to a lass who lives there, For once she was a true love of mine. And tell her to make me a cambric shirt, Savoury sage, rosemary, and thyme, Without any seam or needlework, And then she shall be a true love of mine. And tell her to wash it in yonder dry well, Savoury sage, rosemary, and thyme, Where no water sprung, nor a drop of rain fell, And then she shall be a true love of mine..

Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #3066951. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.533911). Concert Note:The Five Poems of Melissanthi, in the English translation of Diana Maynard, comprise a complete vocal cycle of five poems set to music as a posthumoustribute by the composer to the Athenian poet Melissanthi (1910-1991),in the manner of the old tombeaux of the Baroque era, atradition also used by many composers of the first half of the 20th century. This composer confirms, with reference to his own experience of Melissanthi'spoetry these five from among her many poems have made a such a great impacton my composing that I felt the need to dedicate these musical pages to her.The evocative poetic expressions of Melissanthi, whose real name wasEve Chougia-Skandalaki, and the mysterious atmospheres invokedby David Solomons' music introduce the listener to an ethereal andmetaphysical dimension, allowing us a glimpse into the unknown and the intangible.A recurring theme, which unites the five lyrics by an invisible thread, isan incessant fluctuation between the real and the unreal, between the knownand the unknown and between reality and unreality. The inevitable abandonment of the mind to the seductive charms of thesurreal creates an extraordinary parallelism with lines from a great poet of the past…così tra questa/immensità s'annega il pensier mio:/e il naufragar m'è dolcein questo mare[…so in this/immensity my thoughts drown:/ and to be shipwrecked is sweetfor me in this sea.](Giacomo Leopardi, L'Infinito, 1819).Both the performance and the enjoyment of the Five Poems thereforerequire particular emotional involvement, in an overall picture where everysingle note is a tiny but essential constituent of a larger and more complexmusical architecture. The harmonic structure of the five compositions presentsa substantial homogenity of formulation even within the various rhythmicalsolutions selected, with their repeated returns to themes and chords. This creates an indissoluble unity, such that it would spoil the completenessof the whole cycle of compositions if it were broken.Alessandro BalsiminiTranslation by David W. Choral Choir (TTBB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.928974 By The Beach Boys. By Brian Wilson and Gary Usher. Arranged by Donald A. Mills, 2019. A Cappella,Pop,Rock. Octavo. 3 pages. Donald A Mills #4351149. Published by Donald A Mills (A0.928974). In My Room, by The Beach Boys.  This gentle song may be sung as a prayer, with tenderness. Your audiences will love the melody and harmonies. This arrangement by Donald A. Mills is for barbershop as a quartet or chorus. It is TTBB (TLBB) a cappella, sung softly, sweetly, legato, singing the four dotted quarter notes as a 3/4 time. The Beach Boys have mentioned that they wrote In My Room in 12/8 time because they had tired of the 3/4 time many songs of the day were written in. From Wikipedia, Gary Usher explained that 'In My Room found us taking our craft a little more seriously. Brian and I came back to the house one night after playing 'over-the-line' (a baseball game). I played bass and Brian was on organ. The song was written in an hour... Brian's melody all the way. The sensitivity... the concept meant a lot to him. When we finished, it was late, after our midnight curfew. In fact, Murry [the Wilson brothers' father] came in a couple of times and wanted me to leave. Anyway, we got Audree [the Wilson brothers' mother], who was putting her hair up before bed, and we played it for her. She said, 'That's the most beautiful song you've ever written.' Murry said, 'Not bad, Usher, not bad,' which was the nicest thing he ever said to me. Gary Usher (who co-wrote the lyrics with Brian Wilson) further describes that Brian was always saying that his room was his whole world. Brian seconds this opinion: I had a room, and I thought of it as my kingdom. And I wrote that song, very definitely, that you're not afraid when you're in your room. It's absolutely true. In 1990, Brian wrote, I also enjoyed producing 'In My Room'. There is a story behind this song. When Dennis, Carl and I lived in Hawthorne as kids, we all slept in the same room. One night I sang the song 'Ivory Tower' to them and they liked it. Then a couple of weeks later, I proceeded to teach them both how to sing the harmony parts to it. It took them a little while, but they finally learned it. We then sang this song night after night. It brought peace to us. When we recorded 'In My Room', there was just Dennis, Carl and me on the first verse...and we sounded just like we did in our bedroom all those nights. This story has more meaning than ever since Dennis' death.

The billows are tossing high! The sky is o'ershadowed with blackness. No shelter or help is nigh. Carest thou not that we perish? How canst thou lie asleep when each moment so madly is threat'ning a grave in the angry deep?Master with anguish of spirit I bow in my gried today. The depths of my sad heart are troubled. Oh, waken and save, I pray! Torrents of sin and of anguish sweep o'er my sinking soul, and I perish! I perish! dear Master. Oh hasten and take control!Master, the terror is over, the elements sweetly rest. Earth's sun in the calm lake is mirrored, and heaven's within my breast. Linger, o blessed Redeemer! Leave me alone no more, and with joy I shall make the blest harbor and rest on the blissful shore. The winds and the waves shall obey thy will: Peace, be still. Whether the wrath of the stormtossed sea or demons or men or whatever it be, no waters can swallow the ship where lies the Master of ocean and earth and skies. They all shall sweetly obey Thy will: Peace, be still. Peace, be still. They all shall sweetly obey Thy will: Peace, peace, be still.
