Alhambra is an Islamic palace located in the Andalusian province of Spain. This piece is the third in a set inspired by the history and beauty of Alhambra. This download includes both the full score and a separate trumpet part. The Alhambra Suite was written to provide a first collaborative playing experience for students. Both the trumpet and piano parts are written at the intermediate level. The trumpet part features techniques such as quick changes of articulation, repeated notes, and bel canto style playing. As a younger music student, I played Classical Guitar and always wanted to play this but for whatever reason I just could not master the tremolo effect needed. It has been arranged here for String Orchestra using various techniques to try and conjure up the famous tremolo effect, along other bowing techniques to add variety to this orchestration.Â

A little information about the piece: Recuerdos de la Alhambra (Memories of the Alhambra) is a classical guitar piece composed in MÃ¡laga by Spanish composer and guitarist Francisco TÃ¡rrega It requires the tremolo technique and is often performed by advanced players.

The piece was written for and dedicated to TÃ¡rrega's patron ConcepciÃ³n GÃ³mez de Jacoby in 1899, commemorating their visit to the Alhambra palace and fortress complex in Granada, Spain. It was originally titled ImprovisaciÃ³n Â¡A Granada! Cantiga Ãrabe. It became known through an early 20th-century publication edited by TÃ¡rrega and dedicated as an homage to the French guitarist Alfred Cottin.

This is my arrangement for orchestra of Francisco TÃ¡rrega's masterpiece for guitar. Francisco TÃ¡rrega wrote his guitar piece in 1896 while staying in Granada. He named it after the 13th century Moorish palace in that city. The title means Memories of the Alhambra.
The original masterpiece for guitar of TarrÃ©ga is also famous beacuse of technical skills. The orchestral version focus not so much on technical skills but more on expression of the beautiful melodie of this song.
