The composer is a member of Trinity High School in Louisville's alumni. Loui graduated in 2017 and proceeded to learn music composition. The first idea for him was to write a variation on Trinity's Alma Mater theme. It began as a mere project for his first piano recital. However, the finished product was an amateur composition that was received well by the audience. Finishing it within a week of time, Loui recalls that it could be further improved if he wishes to revise it heavily. But, Loui claims that it is best for the composition to remain as the first attempt for him to compose. Loui appreciates the guidance of his piano professor, Dr. Irina Voro especially, and appreciates his family for their support. He is also grateful for his girlfriend Samantha Koon for her love and support. .

Folk Dance is a lively, fun and easy piece to play by either a string quartet or string orchestra. It has been thoroughly 'road tested' by an amateur workshop group of 25 players (typically UK grade 3-6, with very positive feedback). Folk Dance works well for not only teaching/instruction but also as a short (2 minute) repertoire or encore piece. The opening section features a rhythmic quasi-Eastern European motif, and there is a contrasting middle theme in which the strings imitate rustic bagpipes. There are solos for violas and violins.

Intended to be a festive concert opener, this lively work incorporates motifs derived from the Maryland State Song (Maryland, My Maryland) which itself is set to Lauriger Horatius, a melody better known as O Tannenbaum. The march is dedicated to the musicians of the Londontowne Symphony (an amateur community ensemble in Edgewater, Maryland) and was written for their Season 10 opening concert. Beginning with a lone snare drum setting a simple cadence, the march quickly builds in volume and intensity as different instruments and groups enter and play with the themes. Lesser known American bugle calls such as Church Call and To the Color vie with snippets of a frolic borrowed from a Max Reger piano piece as every player gets a moment in the spotlight, leading to a rousing finale.
