Seen in this way, a concert reflects a value system that pits the individual against the group and poses a struggle of I against you. Surely this vehemence could be explained in a Beethovenian era when the concepts of human rights and individual freedom were fragile ideals. However, it is a different scale of values that my piano concerto tries to reflect: the idea of cooperation, of teamwork and of an orchestra as a living organism whose organs are not superior to one another, more vital than others, but fulfil different functions, qualitatively speaking.Every soloist plays a leading role, but this does not imply either subordination to the rest or denigration or subjugation of the rest. The fact that the soloist is sometimes in the foreground does not imply a victory over the others. The very concept of victory is meaningless here.At times, the soloist will fulfil a leadership role, at others he or she will underpin from passivity what is happening in the orchestra, intentionally from the shadows, as a grey eminence. And at other times - why not - he will question what the majority is doing. It is not a rough relationship of me against you, but there is also a we.The composition and orchestration of this piano concerto was made possible by a grant from the Senator for Culture of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen. This work was funded by an artist's grant as part of the Bremen-Corona-Hilfen programme. The premiere by the orchestra of the Bremer Orchestergemeinschaft is scheduled for the beginning of 2024. This edition: score. Schott Harmony Series. Downloadable, Score. Op. 81g. Duration 5 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q6381. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q6381). At funeral or memorial services and ceremonies, the traditional, slowly marching funeral music, the Tombeau, still plays an important musical role today. In most cases, such musics were created for a specific occasion, like the death of a prince or an artist. That was the case with this Tombeau for wind orchestra, too: Bertold Hummel wrote it after the death of a fellow composer and friend. Hummel was not afraid of expressing his feelings in a wistfully nostalgic funeral music full of tonal beauty which is close to the musical language of the 19th century with regard to form and harmony. In addition to the score and parts, our edition of this moving piece also contains the particell with which Hummel put down the Tombeau on paper in 1998.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.546821 By EnsembleSheetMusic. By Edward Elgar. Arranged by Sjoerd van der Veen. Classical,Romantic Period. 7 pages. Sjoerd van der Veen #156758. Published by Sjoerd van der Veen (A0.546821). Nimrod, variation IX from Elgar's Enigma Variations was dedicated to Augustus J. Jaeger who was employed as music editor by the London publisher Novello & Co. He was a close friend of Elgar's, giving him useful advice but also severe criticism, something Elgar greatly appreciated. Elgar later related how Jaeger had encouraged him as an artist and had stimulated him to continue composing despite setbacks. The name of the variation refers to Nimrod, an Old Testament patriarch described as a mighty hunter before the Lord – Jäger being German for hunter. Piano Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1077326 By Paul Heatley. By Paul Heatley. Arranged by Paul Heatley. Children,Praise & Worship,Spiritual. Score. 3 pages. Paul K Heatley #681502. Published by Paul K Heatley (A0.1077326). I Will Bless the Lord is from a collection of Psalm-based songs composed by Paul K Heatley while participating in an artist residency program run by Fuller Seminary for which Paul was sponsored by his local church in Pasadena, CA. The words (and number) of Psalm 34 inspired a joyful tune in ¾ time, rendered here in a simple piano arrangement, which may be suitable for congregational worship (though it does feature a middle-eight and an instrumental verse since Paul tries to avoid the typical verse-chorus-verse-chorus format).

Concert Band - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1518069 Composed by Edward Elgar. Arranged by James Symington. 20th Century,Classical,Film/TV,Historic,Patriotic. 29 pages. James Edward Ernest Symington #1092231. Published by James Edward Ernest Symington (A0.1518069). The name of the variation refers to Augustus J. Jaeger, who was employed as music editor by the London publisher Novello & Co. He was a close friend of Elgar's, giving him useful advice but also severe criticism, something Elgar greatly appreciated. Elgar later related how Jaeger had encouraged him as an artist and had stimulated him to continue composing despite setbacks. Nimrod is described in the Old Testament as a mighty hunter before the Lord, Jäger being German for hunter. In 1904 Elgar told Dora Penny (Dorabella) that this variation is not really a portrait, but the story of something that happened. Once, when Elgar had been very depressed and was about to give it all up and write no more music, Jaeger had visited him and encouraged him to continue composing. He referred to Ludwig van Beethoven, who had a lot of worries, but wrote more and more beautiful music. And that is what you must do, Jaeger said, and he sang the theme of the second movement of Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 8 Pathétique. Elgar disclosed to Dora that the opening bars of Nimrod were made to suggest that theme. Can't you hear it at the beginning? Only a hint, not a quotation. This variation has become popular in its own right and is sometimes used at British funerals, memorial services, and other solemn occasions. It is always played at the Cenotaph, Whitehall in London at the National Service of Remembrance. A version was also played during the Hong Kong handover ceremony in 1997 and at the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games. The “Nimrod” variation was the final orchestral composition (before the national anthem) played by the Greek National Orchestra in a televised June 2013 concert, before the 75-year-old Athenian ensemble was dissolved in the wake of severe government cutbacks. An adaptation of the piece appears at the ending of the 2017 film Dunkirk in the score by Hans Zimmer. This arrangement for Flex-Band has been adapted to suit the instrumentalists. The key has changed and this makes it much more playable and more secure.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1043401 By Eleonor Sandresky. By Eleonor Sandresky. Classical,Contemporary. Score. 17 pages. Varsa Publishing #648077. Published by Varsa Publishing (A0.1043401). The inspiration for this piece has been the year 2020 itself. So many unusual circumnstances to take in and somehow navigate as individuals, a society and a people. The title refers to the end of the year, we are closing this chapter. It is in fact December 18th, 2020 as I write this. The instability and desire for certainty in the piece are very much intended. It is an emotional and searching work that hopefully captures what I, at least, have been feeling for much of the year of loss and reinvention. That my mother commissioned this piece is a tribute to her belief in me, her desire to support me as an artist, her need for something to work on as a pianist and her curiosity. The subtitle, Mom's notes is a shared secret between us.

Full Orchestra - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1365197 By Alicia Domínguez Arcos Sonay. By Alicia Domínguez Arcos. Arranged by Alicia Domínguez Arcos. Classical,Contemporary,Instructional,Multicultural,Traditional,World. 82 pages. Alicia Dominguez #949514. Published by Alicia Dominguez (A0.1365197). The charm lies in the fact that complete silence does not occur, where there is an audience you can hear the ambient sound: The sum of the breaths, the small movements, coughs... The sound qualities of the air itself and the reverberation of the room. The spectator suddenly discovers that the piece of music is composed of the sounds that surround him and of which he is not usually aware, including his own breathing, the beating of his heart or even the plaintive sound of his own shoes. In society, noise, as in this case, sound in music is present in our daily lives, forgetting to appreciate and the importance of silence. Silence does not have to give a feeling of fear. Appreciate silence, giving it that perception of inner peace and balance, equally linked to perseverance, that perseverance that occurs with music, with its constancy and persistence making it flow. Thus, just as each musical figure has its corresponding silence representing its same value and duration. Although the painter Pablo Picasso said that you have to learn the rules like a professional to be able to break them like an artist, reaffirming what Don Blas Infante, father of the Andalusian homeland (Spain), said: any paper on the ground must always be read , since any role can be important. Music scores and the time spent making them do not take the degree of value in human beings of this century. When they own it for themselves.https://youtu.be/GvEx1Bn2HS8?si=IW1ZUw1yFcJzz0uf

String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.749223 By Duffy. By Aimee Duffy and Stephen Booker. Arranged by HELEN MARPLE-HORVAT. Contemporary. Score and parts. 20 pages. Helen Marple-Horvat #4967545. Published by Helen Marple-Horvat (A0.749223). https://youtu.be/RYUY5j3rGmE Mercy was a massive hit for Duffy in 2008, topping the UK charts for five weeks, earning a grammy nomination and establishing her career as an artist.   It is one of my favourite songs and I really loved arranging this one! The video shows my arrangement of Mercy for String Quartet but without voice, to give you an idea. Many things about it are similar to this version for voice and quartet but the voice carries the tune so it is not so demanding for the first violin. There are some excerpts to listen to in the 30 second sample of the quartet with my daughter singing. This is more difficult to play than some of my other arrangements as it is very syncopated and it is important to feel the stresses on the off beats. As far as possible I have written these as down bows which I hope will help the players to lean into the groove! The pizzicato baseline will need to be prominent, but the inner parts very light, and played near the end of the bow so that the singer can be heard. I have added lyrics to some of the lines to help with the rhythms. I hope you have as much fun playing this one as I did arranging it. Send me any phone recordings on Facebook as I love to hear from people who have tried my arrangements. Please visit my channel on Youtube at Helen Marple-Horvat, Songwriter, Arranger and Composer to find lots of music that I have arranged for Quartet. Most of it is available from Sheet Music Plus.

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1211943 Composed by Elizabeth Borowsky. 20th Century,Classical,Contemporary. Score. 5 pages. Piano Prodigies #809493. Published by Piano Prodigies (A0.1211943). A single light bursts across the night sky like the streak of an artist's pen. A second joins, darting across an abyss of black in a wink of pearly light. Dozens of shooting stars join the first, the sky alight with dancing beams. They fall like tears across a celestial page, jumping, dancing, and disappearing across the horizon. Soon though, the meteor shower must end, the last spark blazing across the night sky in a solitary pin prick of brilliant light. The sky is dark again, not a single sign that shooting stars had ever brightened its marbled dome.

Her earliest memory was watching her mother play classical piano. She began piano lessons at the age of 8, and started composing shortly thereafter.Stevens approaches her compositions as an artist. She paints musical portraits of the things that bring meaning to life: relationship to living things, emotional healing, discovering what matters most and honoring that as best we are able. Stevens' beautiful piano-based music aligns one with their own heart. Although some of her music can be described as New Age, her roots are heavily based in classical and jazz. Her study of classical composition makes her music more complex than some New Age music. Her music has been likened to the impressionistic composers such as Claude Debussy. Sydney's formal training is also reflected in her ability to compose for orchestral instruments. Her latest release, Cycles of Life, was solely recorded and produced by Sydney, programming all of the virtual instruments.Sydney has a great love for jazz. Keith Jarrett was an influence on her with his innovative and improvisational piano recordings and performances. She was particularly impressed with the freedom of style he portrayed in his performances. Bill Evans was something Sydney heard played as a young child. Where her mother was a classical pianist, her father was a jazz pianist. Perhaps that's why some of Sydney’s music can be described as a crossover between classical and jazz--remnants from those early years. Joni Mitchell and Judy Collins were big inspirations for Sydney's songwriting. She was especially drawn to the deeply emotional lyrics in many of their songs.Cycles of Life, the title track from Sydney's current release, was composed for her late step dad. The song is about the cycle of birth and death: Cycles of life go on, yet we carry all that we've known and loved through the ages. Time, another track on Sydney's current release, is a song about how time passes more quickly when we are doing something we cherish. Brian's Song, inspired by the loss of her father-in-law, reflects: All that really matters is the way we fill our heart, and the ways that it has loved. Dawn, a track from Sydney's album Seasons, is a beautiful piano-based instrumental with light string background. It portrays that very peaceful hour as the sun slowly lights up the world -- the hour of dawn.Sydney is a poet. She sees the world through a heart that feels the joy and sorrow of the world and those she meets. Her gift is the ability to transfer that emotion into music. Listening to her music is like taking a journey. She delves into depths of emotion, often taking the listener to places that can be difficult to go without the comfort of a beautiful song to accompany them.In addition to being a prolific compose.
