Published by J Garratt Composer (A0.1029072). 'The Hammer & Anvil' is the piece that adorns the balustrade of the band stand in Parade Gardens, Bath, UK. The band stand was forged by the National Heritage Ironwork Group as a gift to the city during their 2018 'BathIron' festival. The piece is written for 2 treble clef parts and a bass clef part and can be performed by any group of instruments. For the original performance it was performed on 2 Bb Clarinets and a Bass Clarinet.About the piece:'The Hammer & Anvil' is derived from the melody of an English folk song about a blacksmith (ironworker) which has been adapted and augmented to be used as a melodic foundation throughout the piece, similar to an isorhythm in medieval compositions. The piece is in two sections: the A section where the folk melody is confined to the bass and the B section where the melody is split between all three parts. A repeated rhythmic motif, representative of an ironworker using his hammer and anvil, is used to accompany and/or decorate this melody.

Instrumental Duet English Horn,Instrumental Duet,Oboe - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.588927 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by David McKeown. Jewish,Wedding,World. Score and parts. 4 pages. David McKeown #6020753. Published by David McKeown (A0.588927). Hava Nagila is a Hebrew Folk tune, often performed by Klezmer musicians. This version is arranged as a duet for one Oboe and one Cor Anglais, (or English Horn).Hava Nagila was originally a Nigun melody thought to have originated in the Ukraine. In 1918 a professor and musicologist at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Abraham Zevi Idelsohn, set the tune to words adapted from Psalm 118. Hava Nagila was first performed at celebrations at the end of the Great War and quickly spread throughout the Jewish diaspora. In the fifties and sixties, performances by singers as diverse as Harry Belafonte and Bob Dylan popularised the song far beyond its original Jewish audience. Hava Nagila remains one of the best-known and loved Klezmer standards today, traditionally performed at Jewish celebrations.Hava Nagila is simply arranged in a key and range best suited to the instruments. After a steady beginning, the melody gradually increases in tempo, with constant variations in the accompaniment. Hava Nagila is suitable for players at an intermediate level and above. With a performance time of around two and a half minutes, this version of Hava Nagila is perfect for celebrations, weddings and concert performances, both formal and informal. Instrumental Duet Guitar,Instrumental Duet,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.577470 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by David Warin Solomons. Contemporary,Folk,Romantic Period,World. Score and parts. 10 pages. David Warin Solomons #1921289. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.577470). This arrangement of an English folk song follows the words only in that there are seven verses (one for each day of the week as in the song) and the music slows to a respectfully slow pace on wearing of her linen oh as the lady gets ready for church on the final day, Sunday, followed by a jolly ending. Each verse provides variations on the tune and gives the other instrument a chance to play the melody in turn. The piece modulates to various related major and minor keys finally ending on the original D major. The sound sample is an electronic preview.

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.955796 Composed by Music: Luigi Denza, Words: Peppino Turco/Edward Oxenford. Arranged by Scott S. Stewart. Folk. 15 pages. Scott S. Stewart #6036809. Published by Scott S. Stewart (A0.955796). This popular Neapolitan song was composed in 1880 for the opening of the funicular railroad - that cabled cars up Mount Vesuvius. It instantly became a hit on the streets of Naples and soon spread around the world.  This arrangement uses both the original Italian text and the traditional English words, making it an excellent study in Italian pronunciation and good English diction - probably well suited for Italian Immersion school programs.  It is scored for 4-part SATB chorus and piano.
