I discovered this ancient Greek hymn from the year 296 and was inspired to create music for it since there was none, and ended up adding original lyrics for a third verse along the way. This song features lilting, minor melodies in a Celtic style, with a flowing piano accompaniment for an altogether ethereal piece of music, perfect for special music during a church service or even congregational singing led by a small choir or lead singer. The main melody is kept very simple and singable to make it easy for a congregation to learn quickly and sing along right away, while the descant and piano part add deep richness and complexity to support the beauty of the lyrics.

This is a good song for Trinity Sunday or any evensong or funeral service, as it references evening light and the sun descending, while praising the Father, Son, and Spirit.

Although the original was recorded in F# minor, this version is in G Minor for more playability. As of this publishing, over 135,000 people have found my one video collection of funeral hymns on YouTube, not including separate postings of each individual song. Because of this it's been on my mind for a long time to write a funeral song, but it was somehow just never the right time until just a few weeks ago when this one came pouring out in 5 minutes flat [which does not happen often, I can assure you!]. The culmination of years of playing for funerals, a bachelor degree in theology and sacred music, and many more years of writing and playing music through good times and also times full of grief, Lord of All Our Days is my very best and heartfelt attempt to serve those who are also dealing with the absolute heartache of loss, be it the acute, fresh grieving of just losing someone or the flashbacks that come time and time again, years and even decades later.

This song carefully and tenderly handles the true earth-shaking grief that it is to lose someone you love, while holding out a strong hope of the life to come for those who trust God. I had a very difficult time recording it without being moved to tears over and over, and I pray it will reach many in need of comfort, being of service to anyone who is looking for a Christian, Biblical funeral hymn for a memorial service or a celebration of life service. 

This is the full piano vocal arrangement in C major, a better key both for playing and for most singers' vocal ranges than the original version in B flat major.

Here is the full piano vocal sheet music for When My Love to Christ Grows Weak, as heard on my YouTube channel with all the other classic, beautiful hymns from the Lent collection. The lyrics are from a traditional hymn but I've written new music for it in a minor key to match the sombre mood. This piece is a perfect song for either a moving, beautiful solo during a church service or for a congregation to sing along with, led by a singer who has heard the recording and knows the song. This rare hymn is wonderful for Ash Wednesday or any time during the Lenten Season or even Good Friday, contemplating Christ's betrayal by Peter and all who give in to sin. Although it is very solemn and touches on many points about our need for repentance and Christ's suffering, it ends on an uplifting note and leads us on to stronger faith in Him.

Here is the full lead sheet version in an easier key of my arrangement of Round Me Falls the Night, as heard on YouTube. This beautiful evening hymn is a perfect pairing of a solemn, contemplative melody with uplifting, scriptural lyrics that remind us of the hope we have in Christ, in this life and the next. I found this song in a very old hymnbook, so old that you could feel the raised print on the page, and loved the lyrics so much! However, I felt that a minor melody would suit it in a really special way, so I rewrote it with new choral harmonization using a mixture of minor modes to match the evening mood of the song. This piece works well as a choir anthem for evensong, funerals, or for any more contemplative, low-key service, and is written in a comfortable, singable range for everyday singers. It works well either with a soft organ or keyboard/pad accompaniment or a capella, to showcase the rich vocal harmony reminiscent of Elaine Hagenburg or John Rutter.

Here is a beautiful, simple advent song I wrote to serve churches through the season of Advent, particularly during the candle lighting portion of each Sunday the weeks leading up to Christmas. I recommend singing verse 1 on week 1, verse 1 and 2 on week 2, and so on, but you can also just use a different verse each week depending on your service needs and time constraints. There are recordings available of each of the weeks on all streaming platforms as of November 1, 2024, in case that is helpful to your service preparation or to choirs who are learning the song.
