This arrangement is in 4/4 with independence in all parts,  the violins need to know low 2’s (1st will play up to high G), ‘cello uses C and C#, the bass plays C# on the G string.  Slurs in all parts except the bass and uses 1st/2nd endings.  Fun piece to perform.  Key of G  Grade 2

Not your typical waltz, this arrangement is based on an English singing game and contains non-traditional counter-lines and phrasing that will keep your performers counting and audience listening. The melody (and variations) passed between both violin and viola sections creating  some interesting harmonies, the accompaniment doesn’t always play on 2 and 3, while the bass never stops keeping some sort of a time!  The suggested tempo is at 124, but feel free to speed it up and really challenge your players.      Key of G  Grade 3 (because of counting and range)

Violin 1 does not go above D while the cello and bass do go down to a C. Uses 2 eighths (detached and slurred), quarter, half and dotted- quarter notes. Suggested tempo is “A walking tempo at 92� and has a suggested grade of 1+.

It is arranged for a standard string orchestra but will really come alive if you can divide your violins into 3 sections and your violas into 2 sections.   Composed in 1950 by one of the early pioneers of country music whose life was tragically cut short.  Vln 1 goes up to high D, L1’s in Vln 2; low 2’s in Vln 1, 2 and Vla 1, H3 in Vla 1, vlc needs to shift up to high E.  Also contains dotted quarter-eighth patterns in vln 1, 2 and vla 1.  Suggested grade 2

A Schottisch (pronounced sha-dish) is a partnered country dance of German origin and was very popular during the Victorian era. Composed in 2/4 time and is known for including a hop at the end of the melodic phrase.This adaptation of a piano piece by Stephen Foster is in the key of C to F, uses hooked bows, sixteenth notes, dotted eighth-sixteenth and double stops in the upper strings.  Suggested grade 2+/3.
