Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1035856 Composed by Traditional French Carol, James Chadwick. Arranged by Jake Smolowe. Christmas,Jazz. Score. 2 pages. ArrangeMe #6904239. Published by ArrangeMe (A0.1035856). This is the lead sheet version of Jake Smolowe's recording of Angels We Have Heard on High, from his 2021 album Christmas Solo: Informal, Improvised. The chart includes the lead melody line, detailed chord symbols throughout, and a notated piano intro/interlude. Length: 2 pages Notes from Jake: This arrangement of Angels We Have Heard on High is kind of an ode to Brad Mehldau’s many jazz waltz arrangements over the years (for example, She’s Leaving Home, from Day is Done). I wanted to capture the feel of Mehldau’s classic trio waltzes, not just the piano but the drums and bass too. The A sections feature a constantly rising chord progression, with slight differences in chord quality between the first two A’s, and then the B sections highlight some more dramatic reharmonizations as well as a dichotomy between straight-eighths/behind the beat melody and swung accompaniment. The intro, which also serves as the outro vamp as well as an interlude between choruses, includes a bell-like theme that I hope instantly conjures up the Christmas/holiday spirit. Tips for Performance: The intro/interlude/outro can be tricky! I encourage watching the YouTube video and or/listening to the mp3 to get a sense of the timing for the fingering switches and pedaling. Also, in the B sections, the LH is often swinging while the right hand plays straight eighths; as with the intro, the best way to lock down this feel is to check out the YouTube video.------Visit me on the web: http://www.jakesmolowe.comYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/jakesmoloweInstagram: http://www.instagram.com/jakesmolowejazz Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/jakesmolowejazz

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1325492 By Stephen R Dalrymple. By Charles Wesley & Felix Mendelssohn (WH Cummings). Arranged by Stephen R Dalrymple. Advent,Sacred. Score. 17 pages. Stephen R Dalrymple #913719. Published by Stephen R Dalrymple (A0.1325492). Hark the Herald Angels Sing♫ by Charles Wesley (1739) and Felix Mendelsohn (adapted by W H Cummings (1857) ♫ with  Δόξα á¼Î½ ὑψίστοις θεῷ (Glory to God in the Highest) ♫ original song © 2023 Stephen R Dalrymple♫ piano solo arrangement by Stephen R Dalrymple♫ performed by the arranger♫ music © 2023 Stephen R Dalrymple ♫ recording â„—  2023 Stephen R Dalrymple ♫ presentation © 2023 Stephen R Dalrymple ♫ Charles Wesley started his poem with ‘Listen to the angels !’ This started me wondering, what did the angels’ voices sound like ? ♫ Prosody is study of the intonation, stress, and rhythm of the speech of a language (contrasted with the sounds of the vowels and consonants.) Could I replicate the angel’s basic speech patterns? My study of Greek in seminary has given me a pretty good idea of how to pronounce the consonants and vowels of the Greek language. But I would want to listen to someone who actually speaks Greek as their mother tongue to have an idea of the prosody. After further study, I have rewritten the angels’ music; this update represents my latest understanding.♫ Although Latin was the language of the Roman conquerors, Greek was the lingua franca of the Mediterranean world of the first century. Some scholars want us to believe that most of the Jews were not erudite enough to speak Greek. ♫ Yet those of us who have travelled to countries like Haiti, are not surprised that many people there speak Kreyòl, French, English and Spanish!♫ I began searching for someone who actually spoke Greek conversationally to pronounce Luke 2 :14 in Greek. After I found a reliable source, I reduced the rhythm and the accented sylables to simpified music notation. I pulled from my knowledge of ancient modes and used my imagination to add pitches and repetitions of phrases. The melodic and harmonic result is completely inventive, but I believe the basic rhythm of the speech is fairly accurate.♫ This .pdf file includes 2 files: 1) Letter size piano score 2) Small page piano score for performing from a 10 inch tablet♫ (Tell your computer which pages you want to print. There are programs online that will allow you to split pdf files so that you can choose the correct part of the pdf for your tablet.)♫ A duplicate YouTube Video is available in French (Écoutez le chant des anges) https://youtu.be/9_equasuWR4YouTube Channel: @DalrympleDesigns.

Full Orchestra - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1040096 Composed by An-lun Huang. 20th Century,Contemporary,Multicultural,Traditional,World. Score and parts. 424 pages. DoReMi Edition #644919. Published by DoReMi Edition (A0.1040096). One of the Masterpieces of Chinese Music of 20th Century The magnificent cave art at Dunhuang, in Western China sets the stage for the ballet, “Dream of Dunhuangâ€. In the middle of the vast wastes of Western China, lies the oasis of Dunhuang, situated in today‘s Gansu Province. Since the Western Han Dynasty(202BC-8AC), Dunhuang was an important trading and cultural center on the famous “Silk Road’, the ribbon of communication which fostered the historic ties between East and West. In the East was China, source of treasured trading articles such as silk; in the West, the â€road“ branched to Venice, and north to what is today‘s Russia. The mural led caves at Dunhuang, which were begun the Northern Wei dynasty(336AD), and developed over one thousand years into the Qing Dynasty, re presents one of the world‘s richest cultural treasures. Drawing on bothn Western(Indian and Persian) as well as Chinese tradition, the caves, of which 492 remain intact, were decorated as a mines of religious devotion, with the initiation of Buddhism into China. The subjects of the murals, such as devise, demons, apsaras and bodhisattvas, represent the entire pantheon of Buddhist mythology, yet are also significant in their representation of muti-racial and muti-cultural influences, standing as an important testament to the age old exchange between East and West. A fabricated fantasia, the story of the ballet was inspirited by the famous artist, maestro Chang Shu-hong, who dedicated his whole life to Dunhuang. One of the Huang An-lun‘s major compositions with the play written by Xu Qing-dong, the score of “Dream of Dunhuang†was completed in mid-1979. The ballet has been dedicated to the composer‘s closest friends, Canadian writers John Fraser and Elizabeth MacCallun. Up to the date this CD being released, the ballet has never got a chance to performed in mainland China. Nevertheless, its music has been wildly performed and warmly received around the world. The Singapore premiere of its suite No.1 was performed by the SSO, conducted by Maestro Lim Yao. It has been also chosen as one of the “Master Piece of Chinese Music in 20th Century†in 1993. The world premiere of the complete ballet was performed successfully by the Russian State Ballet of Moscow, directed by its artist director, Vyatcheslav Godeyev, in 1994. Choreographed by Chen Min, it was took place in Taiwan with the Taiwan Symphony Orchestra, conducted by maestro David C.H.Chen. Before this recording conducted by the composer himself, the entire score was also performed by the Bolshoi Symphony Orchestra of Moscow in1995. The YouTube video was the World Premiere in Taiwan by the Russia National Ballet with the Taiwan symphony Orchestra, conducted by David Chen in 1994. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.554044). Leopold Mozart’s collection of little keyboard pieces are well suited for woodwind duet.
